The United States of America and Mexico have been trading partners since the late 19th century. Throughout time, the culture and everyday lives of American citizens has changed because of the influence of Mexican culture through trade. When trading with Mexico, the U.S. imports and exports more than just goods, but also ideas. So, how does trade lead to cultural change? When you think of Mexican culture, you probably relate the idea to how it is resembled in the United States- for example, Mexican restaurants. Hispanic and Latin American cuisines are very popular in the U.S. and have had a significant influence on American cuisine and eating habits. Throughout the U.S., there are over 60,000 Mexican restaurants as of 2017; not to mention that Mexican/Hispanic food was rated the third most favorable menu type in America. …show more content…

Futbol, (or soccer, as we call it in the U.S.), is a highly popular sport in not only Mexico, but Hispanic culture. In 1967, two professional soccer leagues were established in the U.S., and since then, soccer has became more and more popular. Mexican culture has also influenced American culture by encouraging young, American adults to learn Spanish. According to a recent survey, Spanish is the second most used language in the United States; currently in the U.S., there are far more than 40 million Americans who can speak Spanish. Trading with Mexico has not only persuaded Americans to learn Spanish, but has helped the learning process as well.
