The gruesome nature of the attacks by the lions frightens many of the workers when they come across the bloody remains of usually only a head and some bones. It is discovered that there are two lions responsible for the deaths. Patterson, an experienced big game hunter, begins to hunt the lions and thinking that the "Reign of Terror" will end soon. What Patterson doesn't know, is that this hunt for the man eaters won't come to an end for 10 months. Initially, stalking the lions proves the be very difficult in that worker camps cover about a 30 mile stretch of railroad, thus giving the lions a wide territory to hunt and avoid being stalked by Patterson. Bewilderment hits Patterson in that the lions seem to always know where he'll be waiting, and decide to attack a different camp. The man eaters manage to escape every trap set up to kill them.
There's a great deal of symbolism through out the story given: through the culprit's (Montressor) family crest;"A huge human foot d'or, in a field azure; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel." a foot in a blue background crushing a snake whose fangs are embedded in the foot's heel, with the motto Nemo me impune lacessit (No one attacks me with impunity). The nam...

Kill Bill starts off at our hero, Beatrix Kiddo, is attending her wedding rehearsal in El Paso, Texas. Before this Beatrix was in an assassin group, known as the Deadly Viper Assassin Squad (DVAS) that consisted of six members. These five members are highly elite and some of the deadliest assassins: the lead Bill (Snake Charmer), Beatrix Kiddo (Black Mamba), O-Ren Ishii (Cottonmouth), Vernita Green (Copperhead), Elle Driver (California Mountain Snake), and Budd (Sidewinder). Kiddo left the DVAS to start life over and have a child. While she is at the little chapel in El Paso Bill arrives with the DVAS and performs an all out massacre upon everyone that resides within the chapel, they even kill the pianist. At the end of the massacre the assassination squad hovers around Beatrix and send a bullet into her head, thinking that she will be killed. This is where our hero’s journey begins.

In two years, they defeat the whole band of Shrikes and capture several of their leaders, and when Tanus presents them to the Pharaoh, Tanus’s sentence is lifted. Rikki Tikki Tavi demonstrates many acts of bravery to show that he is the one true hero in the story. For example, the narrator states that “...Karait had lunged too far, and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi had sprung, jumped on the snake’s back, dropped his head far between his forelegs, bitten as high up as the back as he could get hold, and he rolled away. The bite paralyzed Karait,” (Kipling 133-134). This was an important act because this is when Rikki not only killed the dangerously fast and small snake, Karait, but also saved Teddy’s life. Teddy would have been killed or seriously injured by the snake, but Rikki was brave and went in for the kill, which ended with
Bravery was revealed all throughout The Snake Charmer and to Joe Slowinski “... to be afraid: It just wasn’t in his nature.” (James 13). Periodically throughout the book, Slowinski experiences scenarios of great stupid, but extreme, bravery. An example of this is his constant use of bare snake wrestling, not using his snake grappling hook. Surprisingly so, even with a snake bitten infected right hand, Joe “...still managed to catch another Copperhead, left handed.” (52). Joe Slowinski was a brave man, even if it came at the worst of times, such as the time he “... absentmindedly thrust his right hand into the sack to extract a snake…” (8) which ultimately lead to his sad, yet ironic death.
... He saves her from harm and delivers her to the shore where he is verbally attacked by her quite worthless guardian. As he attempts to flee, he is shot in the chest and when he eventually recovers his pity and love for humans is absent to his impulses. This is an extremely moving scene because it shows the passage of his soul from good to evil for the final time.
