On September 14, 2016, I went to observe the Mermaid Song. The Mermaid Song is the WonderQuest directed by Gay H. Hammond and the rehearsals was in Pearce auditorium on Breanu campus. The Mermaid Song is adapted from The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson. The rehearsal started at 6:30 pm but I was there at 6:15 to observe what the job of the stage managers. The rehearsal was “blocking” and this terms means that the director decides when and where the performers should move and position themselves on the stage ( ). The performers were divided into three groups and since the group three were assigned to perform off stage, they were not in the rehearsal that day. The rehearsal started with a song. After the song, the little mermaid goes
Zimmerman refers to it as ‘devising a performance’ not directing, and “the piece is made and shaped by the digging itself: it is both unpredictable and utterly preordained.” It is also fast, she always has an opening date prior to starting the four week rehearsal process before any words are typed. The speed – consider four weeks of rehearsal when you do not have a text – and the ‘digging’ method create a personal workspace for both the actors and Zimmerman. Her ‘non-hierarchical’ directorial style, as noted by Andrea Nouryeh in "Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses: Storytelling Theater as Feminist Process.", generates an ensemble work process that embraces personal investment. It is this personal investment that frees the ensemble’s “unconscious and conscious” impulses that lay unpredictable and preordained moments on the stage.

The size of the painting is 34 3/8 x 45 3/4 in. (86.5 x 115 cm). The height in proportion to the width shows that the painting is not proportional but it is not far off from forming a perfect square. The frame does not cut-off any of the people in the painting. The composition is centered and zoomed in to show what is going on. The composition is not simple but it is not complex either. The composition is not geometrically ordered. The people seem to be free and in motion. There is asymmetry throughout the painting. In the organization of the painting the objects appear to be crowded. There is not a lot of space between the people who appear to be fighting. The shapes of the people show that the mermaids are fighting a big guy and the placement of them shows unbalance. There are a couple objects presents. A total of three mermaids are presents including a triton and some objects are in the background represented by shadows. The sizes of the objects in the center of the composition are big compared to the ones in the background. A lot of emphasis is present in the center of the painting. The forms of the mermaids and triton are volumetric and a nice scenery is present in the background. The mermaids and trition are formed by contoured lines. Some of the lines are sharp and defined to show the natural curves on the human body and there is blurred out lines in the water to show waves and movements. The lines help give the painting a realistic feel to it. The lines are active in the reflection of the water. The color pallet present in the painting is soft with neutral warm colors. Only a couple different colors were used and the red color on the mermaid stands out the most. The neutral skin color is dominant because it is the color mo...

Manatees, also known a sea mermaids or cows, are on the brink of extinction with funding and environmental protection required to save these amazing animals. Humans are the biggest threat to their existence. Humans have carelessly injured and killed thousands of manatees by slicing and dicing them with boat propellers, all in the name of entertainment. Other negative factors include pollution, environmental reduction due to human encroachment, and poaching with manatees consumed as food. The existence of red tides is another factor posing a natural threat. While manatees may be viewed as large animals in the way of boaters with no real purpose, manatees serve a major purpose by eating vegetation and weeds that cause damage to underwater pipe systems in larger cities. Without them, the removal of this vegetation comes at a huge cost. The existence of one of the most gentle mammals in the world is being threatened. Action needs to be taken now to prevent brutal injuries or death by boat propellers, habitat loss, poaching, and other careless actions that threaten the manatee population.
A group of people in the backstage, doing various things is shown in the piece of The Rehearsal. There were three relatively young girls, holding the masks and practicing on the stage. Girls that were older and look more mature can be seen sitting around, talking and also joking with each other. Older girls can be seen as very relaxed, carefree with no anxiety seen. A few older girls can be seen siting around with big smiles on their face. This makes them look very relaxed and carefree

Its success was backed up with many award nominations at the Tony’s, such as best musical, best book of a musical, best original score and best costume design to which it won. It could be said that this achievement inspired The making of more Disney musicals to follow such as The lion king, Der Glockner von Notre dame, Aida, On the record, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, The little mermaid and most recently Newsies. It has been implied that Disney’s...

In addition, the composers, Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, created witty songs that fully enhanced the movie.
There are many legends about mermaids, but does anyone believe in any of them? Most people are skeptical, but there are some people who truly believe that they exist. Mermaids are said to have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a fish. They are also said to have been circulating the oceans as far back as 5,000 B.C. They are also thought to play musical instruments. There are many versions of different sightings and legends from all walks of life but it remands to be seen whether or not they are true, as no one has ever actually caught one.
In most to all folktales and fairy tales there is always someone who wants or needs something and is on a mission to achieve what they desire (Ingwersen). Of course the authors of the stories are not just going to come right out and give them what they want. There are always some complications and test that the character or heroine must pass to achieve their goal. The Little Mermaid short story is a perfect example of this. The little mermaid is on a mission to gain the love of the prince and an eternal soul and she has a series of test that she has to go through in order to achieve that goal.
