Coming towards what most likely is the end of my tennis career, I have begun to reminisce on how I have adapted and grown as a player. I think one of my biggest growth periods in my game came after I really started to focus more on my mental tennis. It is one of those things that you don 't think about much when you are just learning the game but becomes an essential part of developing into a better player.
I think my uncle, Vic Braden, explained mental tennis best in his book, Mental Tennis: How to Psych Yourself to a Winning Game. He separates mental tennis into four concepts which include mind-body connections, psychological states, intelligent tennis, and strategies. To be honest I haven 't read the entire book yet but I think I have a good grasp of what Vic was trying to say. The mind-body connection is the part of tennis that deals with the different parts of the body working together to hit the ball. It is how your brain reacts with your body to help you hit a certain ball or anticipate a shot. Psychological states are probably what is thought of most when thinking about mental tennis. This is how your attitude and nerves can affect you

I know that only through practice will I develop my toss again. I also remember reading in Vic 's book about how a new concept can take two months before it starts to feel natural. That 's one reason I think so many people quit tennis so quickly. I think for someone who doesn 't know anything about tennis has an idea of how to hit the ball which is completely wrong but since that 's how they mentally imagine it that 's what feels natural. Then they get on the court and sail balls over the fence and when you try to fix their strokes they think it feels weird and unnatural. Then they usually give up before the two months is over because they are getting too frustrated because it still feels foreign to
Jimmy worked like a demon to make up for the difference. By age 8, Jimmy was skillful enough to enter into tournaments, and he made a good showing in them. Jimmy did not win his first tournament until he was in the ten-year-old competition. The losses only gave him determination and the wins only gave humbleness. Jimmy Connors, a paragon of all sorts, had an unconquerable spirit. Jimmy knew that he had to be himself out on the tennis courts if he wanted to succeed. At times in Jimmy’s career, he was known as a spoiled brat for his cocky attitude. He was often called “mouth”. He had this spirit ever since he was a young boy. Being the smaller kid of his age group, he had to have something to hold onto.
I earned a spot on varsity. Being on varsity gave me my first taste of truly competitive tennis. Usually during practices, we would be separated from the other girls not on varsity, and our coach would run special drills with us. Tennis is an energy demanding sport. Matches usually started around 8, although sometimes I had to wake up at 4 because of a long drive, and depending on how many teams were at the tournament, could end late in the evening, one day we didn’t finish until around 9pm. By this time in my tennis career, I knew all the rules of tennis inside and out. I would frequently help the players on the team newer to the sport with scoring, knowing where to stand to serve, and what grips to hold their rackets in. It was fun to teach them because they never would have guessed that there could be so many different ways to grip the racket, or angles to hit the
Tennis is cruel and challenging, it’s a sport of variety. Tennis is a component of ranking, trust, partnership, teamwork, hardworking and much other knowledge. It teaches me how to build up trust with my partner, and also, recognize the dark side of this world, countless competition in everyday life. Everyone is trying to take your position, and only thing you can do is let them take it or fight for it.

When my brother introduced me to water polo the summer before high school, I knew right away this sport would become part of me. With my previous athletic endeavours, practice was always dreaded, games were just kind of fun, and I never really got too competitive. Water polo was different. I lived for practices and games. On weekends when there were no tournaments, I’d have to wait from Thursday till Monday to play again, and I’d often sit at home just thinking about in-game situations. This sport became an essential part of me, and likewise I became very good at it.
I 'm going to compare tennis to golf to reveal the similarities and differences between the two sports. I think you will be surprised how similar they are. They both depend on the swing of your body; grips of your hands, the strike zone of the ball and both are a mental game. Tennis and golf are also very different in many ways. The types of balls used to play the game, materials used to make the balls and equipment used to hit the balls. Tennis is a team sport and an individual sport. But golf is primarily a single player against the golf course. The exertion level differs by sport. Both sports are challenged by weather and attire. I 'm writing this essay because I had played golf for many years before I switched
Sports psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise and physical activity. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals use exercise and sports to enhance people’s lives and well-being. While finding ways to help athletes is certainly an important part of sports psychology, the application of exercise and physical activity for improving the lives of non-athletes is also a major focus.
Tennis is a sport that many people love to play. It is not the hardest sport in the world to learn. When playing against someone, it is called a match. Tennis can be played one on one or a doubles match. The main object of the game is to hit the ball over the net, inside of the lines so that the opponent can't get to it. There are two lines about two feet parallel to each other that outline the court. In a singles match, the inner line is the out of bound line, while the outer line is out of bounds in a doubles match. If you want to play, take a look at my two favorite tennis players because they are masters at serving and scoring, a few key aspects of the game.
Sports are a great way to bring people together and encourage friendly competition among people from all walks of life. In general, a sport is usually some form of physical game or activity performed by two or more people. One such example would be golf, often dubbed the "rich man 's sport" throughout its history. Golf has undergone many changes since its creation in the early 15th century, but has remained one of the more expensive sports as far as equipment costs go. When discussing the impact that different technological advancements in the materials used in golf have had, I 'm mainly looking at how these adjustments have improved performance.
Once people start to learn how to play the game, they can become much more aware of their surroundings. Tennis not only requires one to watch the ball constantly, but also watch for other balls that may come onto the court. Playing tennis also requires the individual to practice. Similar with starting any new sport or club, many people are given the chance to meet new people who share something that they are both passionate about and can relate to. People are also given a chance to become more physically fit. Tennis requires many short sprints from one end of the court to the other, as well as constant conditioning to build up one’s strength, physically and mentally.
