Personal Qualities
I am interested in pursuing a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in addiction because my personal objective is to help and improve the lives of others. Counseling helps individuals with emotional, physical, and mental health issues and increase their well-being. I believe in giving back to the community and helping to find or develop more resources that these individuals may not have access to. I am interested in counseling individuals of all ages and who have a wide variety of addictions. Upon receiving my Masters of Science, I hope to purse a doctorate degree in clinical mental health counseling while working as a substance abuse counselor. This is the right time to further my education because I am more knowledgeable and self-aware. I have matured throughout my undergraduate academic years and have found a passion in helping individuals.
Academic Experience
I attended Southeastern Louisiana University from August 2007 to May 2010. There I was pursing a degree in kinesiology until I decided that I had no desire to become a physical therapist. I was very indecisive and had little knowledge about what I wanted to do the first few years of college. I then decided to transfer to Southern University

For the past three years, I have been an emergency room technician at Baton Rouge General Hospital. There, I assisted patients with activities of daily living, assist nurses and doctors with procedures, and assist with resuscitations. I also provided continuous observations for at-risk patients. Currently, I work for a non-profit organization as a community living supporter in the state of Texas. This program offers services to at-risk youth while collaborating with their families, agencies, service providers, and communities. I have the privilege of facilitating empowerment sessions with youth of various ages and mental
I was born in a small town of -----------of underdeveloped country of Bangladesh. I grew up speaking Bengali, wore traditional clothes, created intricate henna designs on women’s hands, and performed classical Bengali music. Since childhood, thought other than becoming a doctor never registered in my mind. My high grades in high school helped me to obtain admission in one of the most desirable place to learn Medicine, Mayemen Medical College.
Christine’s current position requires a bachelor’s degree in a health related field, although she noted other counselors at her place of employment have master’s degrees. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in the State of New Jersey. Certification involved verifying education and experience, completing an exam, and paying a fee. Christine is also a member of the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC). Membership in this organizat...
My passion for people continued through high school, as I stayed involved with youth group. After high school, I continued my education at Azusa Pacific University. I entered into the University undeclared, but I had been strongly considering Social Work as my major due in part to my experiences. Once I made the decision to move forward and select Social Work as my major, everything clicked and I felt as though I was right where I was supposed to be.
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
My interest in pursuing a doctorate degree in counseling psychology has been influenced by a combination of life experiences and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Though the path which has led me to this destination is complex, the journey has provided me with the clarity and insight necessary to understand human behavior from a holistic perspective. As I approach the completion of my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I am faced with the unsettling realization that I have more questions than I do answers. This has fueled my innate desire and motivation to continue challenging myself by attaining a doctorate degree from the University of North Texas.

People’s lives are changed every day by their actions and experiences. This past summer, I participated in a community service project, an experience that opened my eyes in many ways. I was a volunteer at the County Memorial Hospital. In my time as a volunteer at the hospital, I was able to meet patients and staff members from all over the world and learn about their life experiences. Listening to all of their stories has made me truly appreciate everything which I have.
Another experience that has shaped my decision to become a school counselor has been my continuing work with VCU’s Addiction and Women’s Health: Advancing Research and Evaluation (A.W.H.A.R.E.) Research Team under the direction of Dr. Dace Svikis. With the A.W.H.A.R.E. Research Team, I work with at-risk pregnant women. I have had the opportunity to inform women about our studies, conduct interviews, and enter data into the SPSS dataset. However, more importantly I have witnessed the struggles faced by people with limited resources. Through my experience, I know that my interest lies in directly influencing individuals to b...

The subject came so naturally to me and I decided to continue my enrollment in sports medicine courses throughout my high school education. As my senior year of high school concluded, I explored the idea of a career in physical therapy by job shadowing at the Idaho Sports Medicine Institute (ISMI). After observing the PTs at ISMI, I was immediately drawn to a career in physical medicine. A few months later, I started my education at Idaho State and felt exactly like I did when I started sports medicine in high school. I was absolutely enthralled with my classes, naturally excelled in all of my coursework, and always had PT school in the back of my mind. I knew I would have to work extremely hard to develop a strong undergraduate transcript and build a competitive application. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have worked relentlessly to maintain academic excellence and currently have a 3.91 GPA. I have also succeeded in making the College of Education’s Dean’s List for five semesters. Unfortunately, I did not receive the honor of making the Dean’s List on one occasion, as I was .02 points below the minimum
I have gained great insight into the roles of services that help people going through a crisis. I work as part of primary working team and my role is to help the primary worker and the associate worker in coming up with a treatment plan for our allocated patient. I regularly attend multi-disciplinary care review meetings where we decide and carry out present care needs, plans, and wishes and identify future input and support, goals and any desired future outcomes for our service users. I work with the other members of staff and outside agencies to promote empowerment, individuality, rights as enshrined by the law, personal responsibilities, self-identity and self-esteem. I work as part of a team including an occupational therapist that puts care plans and assessments into action to help people with basic life skills.
Whoosh!A bed whizzed by, surrounded by about 6 medical personnel. “What’s going on?” I thought immediately with apprehension. I knew whatever was happening it was not ideal. Ensuring I was not in the way, I stood on my toes to see what demanded so much attention. To my astonishment, I saw a coin sized hot-pink little girl. She could not have been bigger than two quarters lying side by side. She was struggling! Even with all the procedures the doctors were executing to save her life, she was performing the most work.
While volunteering there, I was placed in a local long-term care home for the elderly. This experience was highly beneficial. Working along side, nurses, care aids and other health care professionals was my first view inside the “system”. Volunteering at the Care Home, did not necessarily make up my mind on the field of social work but solidified my desire to work in the field of human services. I learnt from this experience at the hospital how profound my compassion for others truly was. It was not until my first year of college, that I started to volunteer with an organization that I am still with today and absolutely adore volunteering with. That organization is the Vernon Women’s Transition House in Vernon BC. I started off by filling in for employees who met in weekly meetings. While on the floor, I met many women who were in a place of ‘in-between’ and safety. This experience was eye opening. After a brief stay out-of-town, I returned to Vernon and again volunteered with the transition house – this time in another program: Support to Young Parents. This is an incredible housing program where young mothers who have fled abuse (potentially without the resources or parenting skills they truly need) can live long term. This apartment consists of 6 units, with the 7th unit converted into a resource and common space. The program
I received Principal’s List awards in elementary school, participated in the International Baccalaureate magnet program in middle school, and graduate in the top ten percent of my high school class. College was personally mandatory for me. If my mom didn’t encourage me to go to college, I had the drive and determination within myself to attend college. Attending a Historically Black College/University (HBCU) was definitely a desire of mine, and I knew I wanted to attend a school in Georgia in order to receive HOPE scholarship. I originally choose Albany State University because it was the only HBCU in Georgia to have an accredited Forensic Science degree program. Soon after I got here, I decided to change my major to Psychology. The reason for this was the realization of not enjoying lab work, and I was also more interested in the science of arts rather than natural sciences. Psychology is a very interesting and intellectual field of study and I enjoy the opportunities to observe and interact with others who have the same interest. Once I receive my B.A. in December, I plan on attending graduate school for the study of marriage and family therapy, and I would like to receive a Ph. D in Clinical Psychology. I have yet to decide on a school, but I am working on making my decision at the moment. My long-term career goal is to become a marriage and family psychologist and own my own practice. I would also like to work
I am writing this letter because I am highly motivated to do the Health Psychology master’s program and I want to be considered as a candidate. I have a Bachelor’s Degree of Psychology from Budapest, Hungary with the highest grade 5. My qualification has already been sent to UK NARIC and the Statement of Compability will arrive to you shortly at the beginning of September. I am applying for this course because I have always wanted to be a psychologist and the Cardiff Metropolitan University can provide my next step to do so.
