In this respond module, I would like to focus in three readings that teach me a lot about how women are treated in our society. The first reading is “Men Explains Things to Me”, it is shocking for me to read how men think they are the only one who always have the reason and their take women’s credibility away. The second one is “Feminism” (Pg. 20-22), in this reading I leaned that women are working hard to gain this partial freedom they have now. The third reading is called “Oppression” (Pg. 67-72), in this reading I learned that women are categorized in a group of people and are being oppressed, judge, and restricted by men. Women haven't participate in many social, public, political act as men have. In the reading, “Men Explains Things to Me”, the Rebecca Solnit states, “The battle for women to be treated like human beings with rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of involvement in cultural and political arenas continues and it is sometimes a pretty grim battle”. In the from this section, I learned that women do not have the same opportunities/rights as men do, we are discriminate most of the time, and we get lower pay rates for the same jobs that men do. Women have to fight harder just to get some recognition in a world that belongs to men. The Rebecca Solnit states that, “that keeps women from speaking up and from being heard when they dare; it trains us in self-doubt and self-limitation just as it exercises men’s unsupported overconfidence”. In this reading I learned that most women are living in a world dominated by men and that restricts their freedom to express themselves. This society takes aways women’s credibility leaving them expose to many types of violence and harassment. The book states that, “women realized that males were not the only group in our society who supported sexist think and behavior—the females could be sexist as well—anti-male sentiment no longer shaped the movement consciousness" (Pg. 21). During the reading, I also learned that men weren't the only one who supported sexist behavior toward women. There are group of women who think in a sexist way. The reading also states that, “Sisterhood could not be powerful as long as women were competitively at war with one another” (Pg. 21). These caused a totally breakdown in the movement because it can make it difficult for women to fight for their rights when they have to fight against each other. In the reading “Feminisms”, I learned that any game can be difficult if the players are not working as a team, sisterhood would have been the best weapon to fight sexist among
