The humble pinkish house that my grandparents moved into back in the 80s. They built his dream job right next to their house in Coral Way. From the squeaky chair swing you can see people yelling at each other or hear them talking so loud. When you look to the left you can see where me and my cousins would play freeze tag on the cut green grass, of course no one could ever catch me cause I will hide in small places in the backyard. Every time I laid in bed for a long time I will start to hear my grandmother's heavy feet running down the hall opening the front door. The door made a squeal almost a wine, Im pretty sure that door was reason why I barely had the chance to sleep in. Her feet will always stomp as she rushed back to the kitchen with the clothes she had hanging up to dry outside. When we arrived in Texas, we had to drive all the way to Austin in order for us to get to my grandfathers hotel. When we got there and I saw the hotel, I thought to myself that it was the most beautiful hotel in the world. It had color stained windows and when the sun shined through them, you could see a rainbow. The hotel looked like a catholic church with all of the breathtaking colors. My grandfather said that he loved living there because it made him feel rich.
As I walked through the door of the funeral home, the floral arrangements blurred into a sea of vivid colors. Wiping away my tears, I headed over to the collage of photographs of my grandfather. His smile seemed to transcend the image on the pictures, and for a moment, I could almost hear his laughter and see his eyes dancing as they tended to do when he told one of his famous jokes. My eyes scanned the old photographs, searching for myself amidst the images. They came to rest on a photo of Grandpa holding me in his lap when I was probably no more than four years old. The flowers surrounding me once again blended into an array of hues as I let my mind wander……
