COMMUNICATION 101
• The title communication 101 means the basics of communicating, it means learning the basic skills and necessities in order to communicate with some, it is the beginning steps in communicating.
• Melinda tries to communicate with Rachel and talks her about the plans she has with Andy, they do so by passing a note book back and forth until Melinda writes that she was raped by Andy. This is the climax of the story because Melinda is finally releasing what is on her mind and breaking the silence. It is the first time Melinda opens up to anyone about being raped by Andy Evans.

Melinda sees on the wall all these people speaking their opinion and feels through the wall. Some of the comments say, “He should be locked up, He’s a creep” and “call the police.”
• After reading the long list of comments Melinda says, “I feel like I can fly”. She says this because once she saw that there are people out that there who may have gone through the same situation she has, most of the guilt, self-hatred and pain is removed from her chest.
• All these people who wrote on the wall expressed their feelings about Andy Evans while remaining unknown which could be why they chose to communicate through writing on the

• Andy tries to rape Melinda again but this time she is able to find her voice and shouts “NNNOOOO!!!”. When Melinda found her voice, she was able to speak up against Andy and defend herself.
• Andy is held to the wall and Melinda is holding a piece of glass to his neck just enough so that some blood comes out. “His lips are paralyzed. He cannot speak” this shows how Melinda took Andy the guy who had all the social power took his ability to speak just as he did to her.
• I have noticed that Andy’s name changes throughout the story. At first, he is “Beast and IT” to show how he is a complete monster and then he becomes “Andy Beast” to show how he is half human and half beast. After Melinda defeated Andy she took away all his dominance and power that he just became “Andy Evans” a disrespectful guy with no value for
