Mega yachting is a life style that can be used by only very few people. The yachts that people live on are custom designed to fit their individual lifestyle and include many intricacies. Though they boats may very in exterior design and size they all contain relatively the same main components that drive and power the vessel although those can very as well. (Thesis) Mega yachts are constructed in many places and though they are capable of serving themselves they are also in need of exterior vehicles to help them carry the passengers directly to shore and partake in water sport activities. The boats that are carried by mega yachts and super yachts are called tenders by most of the yachting community. These vessels can vary in size from being very short boats of only 17 feet in length to the more typical vessel of a length of around 30 feet. The tenders are launched by a davit, of which an example can be seen on nearly all cruise liners. The tenders may also be launched by an over head crane that is mounted to the super structure of the main vessel and capable of lifting the weight of an entire 10,000 pound boat. Also contained in the main vessel may be other water craft vehicles to the effect of competition PWC’s and double person PWC’s that most people in the …show more content…
Mega yachts tend to be multiple stories tall and because of this they need ways to transport gusts and owners up and down. Some mega yachts have typical stairways but may have the hand rails encrusted in gold or silver leaf and then have an elevator close. Designers choose to give their vessel a spiral staircase to save space. And yet some others use a spiral staircase with a glass elevator in the middle of the stairs. This makes for a neat effect and can be somewhat humorous to children as they chase the elevator up the stairs. One drawback to having a glass elevator surrounding is that the mechanics of the elevator are
There are many instances in Ken Mitchell's play The Shipbuilder, where the main character Jaanus Karkulainen, insists on being called by his Finnish name Karkulainen. In the play, many characters call him Johnny Crook. This situation creates controversy about names and shows how important names are to some people. Jaanus and Jukka create most of this controversy.
The Early Modern Era saw great change in the field of naval technology. Exploration and the desire to expand trade fueled the development of new, more effective naval vessels. These vessels, in turn, contributed to the growth of worldwide trade and interconnection that marked the period.

Conclusion Due to The Titanic's incident engineers have improved on the building of ships with the aid of modern technology and durable materials which is able to withstand hard pressures exerted on it, and it has also enabled them to build bigger ships which has the capacity of caring large number of people, as well as more number of survival boats, and emergency radio communicators, computer and satellite to enable the captain or crew members to get help when faced in trouble in bad waters, etc.
As surprising as it may seem, one of the most common household items, cardboard, can be used to construct a boat. Building a cardboard boat has become a fun activity that anyone can take part in. Towns and schools hold annual cardboard boat regattas, judging the entrants on speed, design, and creativity. In New Richmond, Ohio there is even a cardboard boat museum! These special boats are more than just a box thrown into water; they are designed using elements of engineering and physics to make them not only water ready, but fast and durable. Building cardboard boats is an exciting way to incorporate topics studied in the classroom into an exciting educational experience.
Bjorn Ericksen and his team have embarked on a long and expensive project designed to help them win the next Whitbread World Sailboat Race. Using the above proposed plan, the team should be well prepared to design, build and sail their vessel to victory. Although they are certain to experience setbacks, problems and delays, having a priority matrix, a project network, and a Gantt chart will provide a solid plan that will easily keep their project on track. Once they have finished the race and reviewed their performance, defending their championship will become next year's objective.
Ocean shipping probably will meet with the pirates, which could lead to economic losses. Technology How to make the vessel keep efficiency by using less fuel, so company could cut the cost. Environment Wrecking on a rock, meeting with tsunami or rainstorm and so on when sailing. o Five – Forces • Threat of new entrants Low, because of high capital demand. Power of suppliers High, because of the vessels manufacturing, fuel price, and labor cost because these factors are all have no substitutes.

The keel for the Lusitania was laid in May 1905 to be one of the biggest commercial ocean liners post the RMS Titanic hull. “John Brown and Co Ltd of Glasgow was the winning builders to build this ship. Post the building of the ship, over a 1 year period. She was launched on June 7th, 1906”. (“RMS Lusitania”) Her attraction was the fact that she had seven full decks for passengers compared to the normal four to five that most of the ships carried or housed at that time. The upper class passengers enjoyed their berthing like they always had with all the comforts of home. But now instead of the poor class having to sleep in open air berthing that had no privacy, they actually were able to sleep in 4 or six person to a berthing space or room.

Salvage and Towage are two concepts widely known in the maritime world, nowadays offering employment to many specialized professionals.
Well, I have a good news to share, this is the fact that not all people who choose to cruise are rich. Cruising is designed to be enjoyed by everyone! With adequate planning and proper timing, you too could enjoy cruising within your capable budget.
White-water boating is a major new sport in America, it involves using canoes or kayaks. Both canoes and kayaks have unique American histories. Canoes are sleek boats, they were developed by Native Americans of the Northeast and Great Lakes region. Originally canoes were made of wood their hulls had a deep V-shape. Later, a frame of strong wooden ribs was made, then a covering of scraped bark was laid over the frame. Although modern canoes are made of aluminum or fiberglass, the design has never really changed. A canoe's hull will carry mountains of equipment, but the boat itself is light enough to be carried by one or two people. Canoes are versatile, consequently, they can be used on lakes or in mountain rapids.
Boat Building- Caribs’ canoes might have been up to 6 metres long. It was made out of tree trunks. The trunk was charred then hollowed with stone axes and left to season, after which it was buried in moist sand. Bars were placed across the opening to the force out the sides and it was left in place until wood had dried and hardened. Then triangular boards were wedged at the bow and stern so that the water could not enter the boat, and the sides were raised by fastening sticks bound with fibres and coated with gum to the upper edges.
For islanders boating is a necessity. For sportspersons, vacationers and outdoors enthusiasts, recreational watersports is the reason most visitors come to the area. My observation is that summer boating, and pleasure craft activity has become more popular with each passing year. I’ve not only watched, but I have also been an active participant in exploring the river. I’ve watched fishing boats and pleasure craft darting in and out of the channels between and around the myriad of nearby islands. I have found the constant flow of action to be quite remarkable.
