Introduction-
Many scientists today operate under the construction of Scientific paradigms. Scientific paradigms are explanations of phenomena that give a understanding of the process that underlie a science. These are built from multiple hypotheses in which they are ruled out as these paradigms, specifically toward science. Medieval science had the construct of the scholars depending on the paradigms such as astrology, folk belief and alchemy. This report will include the uses of these paradigms that was conducted in this lab, “Medieval science”. In this report,
The explanation of these paradigms will be included in this report such as, “What significance does astrology has on medieval science?” and “How does Astrology, folk belief and Alchemy

Alchemy had a mystery notion to it, however, it gave rise to modern day chemistry by being disproven. Historically, Alchemy refers to the investigation of nature and philosophical discipline that combined chemistry with metal work. It began as a pathway to learn what is around. Although alchemy did not survive the Enlightenment, it served as an influence today by chemical industries such as; metalworking, production of inks, paints and cosmetics. These advancements proved valuable to the society to the renaissance and medieval proving to be valuable to the advancement of …show more content…
If the null hypothesis is rejected this will falsify the predicted above. This null hypothesis is for part three of the experiment.

This experiment was observational in a sense where it is being tested whether the subject is psychic by determining the correct symbols that is not shown to them. In this part of the observational study medieval alchemists believed that there are powers such as clairvoyance and telepathy. The purpose of this observational study was to test if the subject possessed such ability with an experiment.
This experiment is observational by determining the horoscopes for each scenario that was given to the subjects. If there is any validity between these horoscopes, there should be a similarity between groups and accuracy in which horoscope is right to the corresponding scenario.
Today, alchemy is mostly use to change one element into another such as lead and mercury into gold and silver for undiscovered material. In Frankenstein, it tells about alchemists that who want to discover the mystery of life and the creation of inanimate objects. By look at these alchemist, Victor wants to use the alchemy that he learns from his teachers to creating life from death and he thinks it will benefit for the people.

The horoscope at birth could subsequently be followed by ‘annual revolutions’, in which the astrologer calculates the individual's prospects for the coming year.... ... middle of paper ... ... Pictures of the sun and moon were found in several Suffolk churches and the churches themselves were built to face the rising sun.
Alchemy is a theoretical and prescientific tradition practiced throughout Egypt and Eurasia which is designed to purify, mature, and perfect some objects. Alchemy was practiced in Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Persia, India, Japan, Korea, China, Classical Greece, and Rome, in Muslim civilizations, and in Europe up to the 19th century in a network of schools and systems that span at least 2,500 years (McMahon Bronwyn). In the history of science, alchemy refers to both an early form of the investigation of nature and an early philosophical and spiritual discipline. Both forms combined elements of chemistry, metallurgy, physics, medicine, astrology, semiotics, mysticism, spiritualism, and art as parts of a greater force (Royal Society of Chemistry).
The aim of this essay is to provide a summary and critique of Thomas S. Kuhn’s groundbreaking thesis ‘The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.’ This will be done by analyzing his concepts of ‘paradigm’, ‘normal science’ and ‘scientific revolutions.’ Following the overview I will present the example of ‘The Copernican Revolution’ to empirically show a paradigm shift. The rest of the essay is concerned specifically with critically examining Kuhn’s notion of a paradigm and the incommensurability between them. I will show that to define paradigm is a never ending task however this should not hinder the usefulness of the concept itself.
Because other metals were thought to be less perfect than gold, it was reasonable to believe that nature created gold out of other metals found deep within the earth and that a skilled artisan could duplicate this process. It was said that once someone was able to change, or transmute a "base" chemical into the perfect metal, gold, they would have achieved eternal life and salvation. In this way, alchemy turned into not only a scientific quest, but a spiritual quest as well. Although the purposes and techniques were often times ritualistic and fanciful, alchemy was in many ways the predecessor of modern science, especially the science of chemistry. The birthplace of alchemy was ancient Egypt, where, in Alexandria, it began to flourish during the Hellenistic period. Also at that time, a school of alchemy was developing in China.
The aspects and details of astrology are very scientific and interesting. These are things we cannot figure out without scientific reason and investigation or study.
Alchemy is the medieval forerunner of chemistry, based on the supposed transformation of matter. It was concerned particularly with attempts to convert base metals into gold or to find a universal elixir in the Middle Ages. It is very different from today’s chemistry for Alchemy is not real, it was a misunderstanding of basic chemistry and physics. Alchemists based their theories and experiments on the Aristotelian assumption. They thought that the world and everything in it were composed of four basic elements; air, earth, fire and water.
No matter what beliefs one may have, there are many different variables that could not only affect one’s views on astrology, but may change one’s opinions on
Over the course of the years, society has been reformed by new ideas of science. We learn more and more about global warming, outer space, and technology. However, this pattern of gaining knowledge did not pick up significantly until the Scientific Revolution. In the sixteenth and seventeenth century, the Scientific Revolution started, which concerned the fields of astronomy, mechanics, and medicine. These new scientists used math and observations strongly contradicting religious thought at the time, which was dependent on the Aristotelian-Ptolemy theory. However, astronomers like Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, and Newton accepted the heliocentric theory. Astronomical findings of the Scientific Revolution disproved the fact that humans were the center of everything, ultimately causing people to question theology’s role in science and sparking the idea that people were capable of reasoning for themselves.
History of Alchemy Alchemy has a long history that’s full of legends, mysteries and romance. When we think of alchemy, we picture eerie laboratories with alchemists hunched over glowing furnaces and cauldrons, mixing unknown chemicals and powders together. These otherworldly scenes are what attract us to alchemy’s mysteries. Its
Even other astrologers struggle to repeat the findings of their colleagues. So long as astrologers’ findings cannot be reliably repeated, they cannot claim that these findings are consistent with reality; this would then mean that it is impossible to prove astrology as
Divination is the same thing as fortune telling. Divination was popular in Europe during the medieval times. There were many different methods of divination in the middle ages. They could tell the future by looking at the spots on livers of animals, casting lots (dice made out of animal bones), or looking at how birds fly, which is known as augury. They also often relied on the position of stars.
The Egyptians became the first group of people to come up with detailed horoscopes by inventing the twelve houses of astrology (Hand 6). Based on Earth’s orbit around its axis, the wheel of houses contains twelve different sections each representing a part of life. The twelve areas of life in the house are the following: self, possessions, communications, home, creativity, health, marriage, business, spiritual exploration, career, community, and self undoing. Furthermore the order of the houses follows the path of human development. The position of the sign and degree starting in the first house of the house wheel depends on the part of the ecliptic positioned on the eastern horizon during someone’s birth (Corrine Birth Chart Layout 3).
