The main point of this informative speech was how Medical Robots are changing modern medicine. The first point the speaker showed the audience is how the Medicial Robots help Maurine get a new kidney. The next point he tells the audience is how orderly robots are suppose to transport medicine, food and lab supply. The next robot he tells us about is the remote present robot. Remote present robot helps the doctor be with the patient even if they are not in the same hospital. The last robot he tells us about in his speech is the surgical robots. These robots are used in operating rooms around the world. The speaker did a great job of not speaking to fast or too slow, and he also made eye contact with his whole audience instead of looking down
or only looking in one direction
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a non-profit organization that has three pillars that they strive to achieve every day, as well as give everyone the opportunity to help out these sick children and their families.
Well have you ever wonder what Multiple Sclerosis? Today i'm going to explain to what MS(Multiple Sclerosis) is so I hope that you enjoy.
(Attention getter) Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. That’s a lot of blood. Blood is scary, and blood always seems to make situations worse than it really is. Trust me, it happened to me personally. But if you think about it, blood is everything. There are many things about phlebotomy, yet not a lot of people know about them. (Thesis) Coming from a family with a bit of history in the medical fields, this topic easily made me curious and I wanted to know more. (Preview three main ideas) And now, I want you guys to know a little bit as well, as I will explain a brief history of phlebotomy. Second, I will share how phlebotomy is today. Lastly, I will share some education courses that would be helpful to become a successful phlebotomy technician. But don’t worry; there won’t be any blood in this speech, so there’s nothing to worry about.
Lupus is known as “the cruel mystery” in the world of disease/medicine. 1.5 million Americans are currently diagnosed with Lupus, with the number possibly being a lot higher since it is one of the most difficult diseases to diagnose in the WORLD (5 Million some form of Lupus)
Introduction Peritoneal dialysis is a procedure that filters your blood. You may have this procedure if your kidneys are not working well. You can perform peritoneal dialysis yourself, or a machine can do it for you at night when you sleep. Tell a health care provider about: Any allergies you have.
If I could have everyone's attention. Good-morning ladies and gentlemen. For those of you who don't know me my name is Jasmine Davenport. Today I’d like to discuss traumatic brain injury also referred to as TBI. I chose this topic because traumatic brain injury is a serious and complex injury with a broad spectrum of symptoms and disabilities. Traumatic brain injury effects people of all ages and is a major cause of death and disability worldwide. A traumatic brain injury can be caused by a blow or jolt to the head that disrupts normal functions of the brain Also, traumatic brain injury can cause physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral affects.
On average, one American dies from stroke every 4 minutes. Every year, more than 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke. Stroke is one of the top leading causes of death and long-term disability in the United States. Stroke kills almost 130,000 Americans each year—that’s 1 out of every 20 deaths. On average, one American dies from stroke every 4 minutes. Every year, more than 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke. With proper care and awareness strokes can be prevented because you can identify signs of stroke, take medications, and live a healthy lifestyle.
Technology allows people to view the subject in different way because it soaks through the human beings’ lives deeply. As the technology is developed, it offers more opportunities and approaches to experience the ‘thing’ that they never can experience in the past. Turkle demonstrates an example how technology is absorbed into human being’s lives and offers new experience in contemporary society. In her article, she explains Miriam and Paro’s story which is about the relationship between human beings and robot. When Turkle illustrates the situation that Miriam shares her sad emotion with the therapeutic robot named Paro, she mentions “[…] people willing to seriously consider robots not only as pets but as potential friends, confidants, and even romantic partners. […] At the robotic moment, the performance of connection seems connection enough”
In addition to using language understood by many, the author introduces a significant figure who creates robots by explaining that he invented the Roomba, a household appliance that has become popular around the world. While the Roomba has become a household name, Robert Brooks is also responsible for creating a lesser known success, the first commercially available human like robot obtainable to companies by offering an affordable price point. Brooks is a credible source in the world of technology due to the success of his creations, so his opinions can have a greater impact on the population. The reader is led to view the idea of robots in the workplace in a positive light when Brooks points out the fact that when the PC was introduced, it did not eliminate the need for office workers, it simply changed the type of work that they are required to do. The Roomba and PC are valid examples of humans currently choosing to coexist with machines, but the article had the opportunity to resonate on a deeper level with the reader had it mentioned the fact that robots are responsible for many luxuries that relied on every day. Furthermore, while one may cringe at the thought of a robot in their home, he or she may fail to see that they already coexist with many and depend on them to help
The expert systems that are created to help in the medical field have been programmed to help in one specific area of medicine (Masci). This is a good strategy to slowly introduce robotics into the medical field. If each robot is specially set up to help with, for example, kidney transplant, the robot would be capable of being an expert and learning how to make these procedures more efficient. Some may argue that robots would be inadequate in the operating room because they may not recognize certain situations. How will we know what these systems can and cannot handle until we try? Scientists now are formulating a plan to program these machines with knowledge that would easily be retrievable. The scientist will word situations in a certain way so the robots can easily identify the information they need to solve the problem (Masci). In an article about this topic, t...
In, “The Robot Revolution is Here,” by Katherine Mangu-Ward, she discusses what service is like from such a machine. The text states, “It turns it’s black face plate to the humans, makes an open handed gesture, and asks if they want anything to drink” (Mangu-Ward, 1). It then goes on to explain how it is able to take all the orders at once, and is capable of face recognition. While this may be fascinating, the machine is taking the place of a job that could’ve been used to fund a human’s necessities. In addition to replacing a human, robots decreases social interaction. The various people you come in contact with each day, whether it be when ordering lunch, purchasing clothes, or at the supermarket, will be replaced by robots. Usually, one gets into discussions with the individuals they come in contact with at these places, possibly even a heated debate, however, such interaction is impossible with robots. They posses no emotion, and are unable to be passionate towards something. This will negatively affect humans ability to communicate properly. Since we will constantly be surrounded by these machines our normal social skills will decrease, leaving us incapable of carrying a simple conversation
Have you ever had the fear of not being able to breathe while sleeping? Well, many Americans have to deal with this every single night. Many people are undiagnosed and unware that they even have this condition. If untreated, sleep apnea can cause people who have it to do poorly in everyday activities (“Sleep Apnea”). Today, I am going to be informing you about sleep apnea. I chose to research sleep apnea because I had never heard of it before and I didn’t know it was as common as it is. I also love researching new topics and discovering things that I don’t know much about. I’ve prepared for this speech by researching my topic and using many websites and sources for finding information about sleep apnea. First, I will be talking about what sleep apnea is, the two types of sleep apnea there are, and the symptoms and effects of it as well. Second, I will be talking about what causes sleep apnea, and the treatments for it. Finally, I will be telling you about
This essay will show how common the robot will become within the next decade. It also shows how far computer technology
...ings to ignore. For example, they affect the manner in which the brain functions. Robots also affect the social life of people, in society, which has become an ethical issue among many researchers. On the right side, robots also offer security to families and companies and perform duties that are dangerous to human beings. In addition to that, robots are of benefit in the medical field especially to students with disabilities and those awaiting organ transplant procedures. This is where robots help them remain in touch with their friends. However, there are many security concerns in regard of robotic objects, especially when people use them in place of human interactions. However, the coming days may produce advanced robots with sensor-based, animated devices that use expressive sound, light, movement a screens to praise, encourage, advice and comfort human beings.
The second article, “My Friend the Robot”, Kathleen Richardson states that robots will be the emotional support for humans in the future. People now a day can live longer, also the elder population are continually growing up. There is a need for elders to have a robot that can take care of themselves, such as medical care, loneness. Robot can have more progressive systems and software to lower their owner’s stress. The researchers haven’t figure out the best way to make this happen yet.
