After having my interview with Dr. Lucido about his knowledge on medical marijuana I’ve noticed some pros and cons. After the interview I could really tell he has extensive knowledge about this topic. He really knew a lot of the details on marijuana, as I’m sure he does about everything he prescribes. He was aware that sometimes people take advantage of the health care system and get their hands on medical marijuana, but he stills stands up for its use in the medical field. I decided to look more into the subject and ran across “An Extension Approach to Drug Legalization”, by Martin Levinson. This discusses medical marijuana’s laws and uses. It also cover’s the positives and negatives that are associated with medical marijuana.
When Dr. Lucido was asked if marijuana should be legal he replied, “if marijuana was legalized there would be more people using it for the wrong reasons, but he thought that there would be a lot less death and crime out on the streets.” Many people would agree with this statement. Other’s would argue with it because they believe marijuana use would go down. Some think that if marijuana was legal less people would use it. A lot of youth wouldn’t think it was cool because it wasn’t illegal and there for adolescents marijuana use would decrease. This question is the basis of the paper, should medical marijuana be available? This paper will show you the positives and negatives of medical marijuana.

George W. Carver’s birth does not have an exact date and there are conflicting reports about his date of birth. Most sources believe he was born into slavery around 1864(CBN News). In his words’ though, “I was about 2 weeks old when the war closed” ( National Park Service), this statement refers to the Civil War which concluded in 1865. Carver might not have a concrete birthdate but the start of his life had a unique and somewhat blessed start. George Washington Carver was born on a small farm to slave parents near Diamond Grove, Missouri, but soon was kidnapped at an early age along with the rest of his family (Bagley). His owners at the time found and took him back home and raised him and his brother as one of their own since the Emancipation Proclamation had set all slaves free. G.W.C didn’t really know his biological parents since his mother had not been recovered from the kidnappers and his father’s possible farming-related death before he was born. He might have had a weary beginning, but his adoptive family gave him the first tidbits of knowledge and the taste of
Segmentation variables can be classified into four major classes; geographic, demographic, psychographic and behavioural. The use of these categories either individually or in combination assists companies to identify and establish market segments which is relevant to the product or service they are offering. This in turn helps these organisations to evaluate the relevant segments to choose the pertinent target market.
Many factors should be addressed when defining a target market. These factors include market segmentation, product life cycle, and the four "P's" that make the marketing mix. Market segmentation is the process of dividing a total market into market groups consisting of people who have relatively similar product wants and needs. There are four major segmentation variables: geographic, demographic, psychographic, and behavioral. Geographic segmentation includes world region, country region, city, density, or climate. Demographic segmentation can consist of age, gender, income, occupation, education, race, religion, or nationality. Social class, lifestyle, and personality fall into the psychographic segment. The behavioral segment divides buyers into groups based on their knowledge, attitudes, uses, or responses to a product (Bethel, 2007). Once the market segment is identified, that market can be targeted.

Introduction The legalization of marijuana is considered a controversial issue, something that can benefit people for medical purposes, but what about recreationally? Marijuana has been illegal since 1937, but there’s never been a bigger push for legalization. There are several reasons why it is illegal, because of government propaganda and big industry not wanting to lose money, but this will be discussed later. The purpose of this paper is to educate, theorize, and discuss various aspects of marijuana, such as its history, development, and the advantages and disadvantages of marijuana legalization. Finally, my personal reflection on legalization and marijuana in general will be discussed.

Segmentation is the process of determining the breakdown of the target market into smaller specific variables that make it easier to evaluate. Gabbott M (2004, p 159) describes the consumer related segmentation variables as being Geodemographic, Psychographic and Behavioural.
Medical marijuana has been used for centuries to combat pain, weakness, anxiety, insomnia, female problems and nausea. Today it is commonly used by cancer and AIDS patients to stimulate hunger, combat nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy or other drug therapy and reduce pain. It has also been shown to be effective in reducing eye pressure, especially in the cases with glaucoma. Medical marijuana, or cannabis, is derived from the Cannabis sativa plant and there is some evidence of cannabis being used medicinally for over four thousand years. Many believe that medical marijuana is a healthy and natural alternative to dangerous and toxic pharmaceuticals that often have side effects worse than the original condition. The United Sates declared marijuana a narcotic and declared it illegal with the passing of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937.

Here, the segmentation is done on the basis of the consumer’s knowledge about the product and his attitude towards the usage of the brand. Behavioral variables include benefits, occasions, user status, loyalty status, usage rate, buyer readiness stage and the attitude. Consumers can be categorized as those who purchase the product occasionally, those who purchase products because of the benefits derived, ex-users, potential users, and first time users.
