Mechanical engineering technicians work under the direction of mechanical engineers to design, build, maintain, and modify many kinds of machines, mechanical devices, and tools. They work in a wide range of industries and a variety of specific jobs within every industry. Mechanical engineering technicians review mechanical drawings and project instructions, analyze design plans to determine costs and practical value, sketch rough layouts of proposed machines or parts, assemble new or modified devices or components, test completed assemblies or components, analyze test results, and write reports. There are approximately 48,000 mechanical engineering technicians employed in the United States.

I know I will probably need to take advanced math and science classes. I am a more hands on type of person and it easier for me to understand. I like fixing things and working with my hands. This career interests me because when I was younger, I used to always try and fix things. Sometimes, my dad would start to fix his car and I would go out and try to help him because it was fun learning how the car worked and how he would fix it. The skills that I am already good at are math and science, which, are highly required when trying to become and engineer.
A drawback of this career is that it requires a lot of education and only 48,000 people are accepted in engineering jobs which is a small amount of how many people are trying to become an engineer. In all honesty I do not know what makes me qualified to pursue this career because liking the job will not get me qualified. The amount of schooling required for you to become and engineer is quite a bit considering that you have to study beyond the normal four years. So, I am pretty sure I can make it through college, but at the same time I am not sure if I have the dedication it would
