From Math Major to Mechanical Engineer
When visiting ETSU during my senior year in high school, the support shown by the math department faculty and their interest in me were impressive. Since math and engineering go hand in hand, I decided that the receipt of an applied math and statistics B.S. from ETSU was the first step necessary to achieve my goal of becoming a mechanical engineer. Some major contributing factors that made me decide to pursue a math and statistics degree from ETSU were that this path would provide me with the aptitude to manipulate scientific data, the ability to communicate with a diverse population, and a broad liberal arts education, ultimately resulting in receipt of a M.S. degree in mechanical engineer and attainment

A degree in mathematics can actually land a job in an engineering field in some specialized roles. Math graduates, being proficient in solving mathematical problems, are extremely good at helping to solve real-world, difficult problems, and can be found working in mechanical, structural, aeronautical and many other categories of engineering (“What Can You Do With a Mathematics Degree?”). A B.S. degree in mathematics can be utilized to shorten the time that it takes to obtain a second B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering by utilizing all of the similar course requirements (“College of Engineering”). By getting my B.S. in mathematics prior to procuring my mechanical engineering M.S., I acquired an intellectual and a competitive edge over others when applying for jobs because of my enhanced mathematic education and abilities. ETSU helped me secure the critical thinking and communication skills needed to become a great mechanical engineer. My ultimate educational goal is to secure a second B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering which gives me the options of obtaining a job in industry or allowing me to teach at the college level in the future. With a M.S. in mechanical engineering, I am giving myself more opportunities to find a good job to provide for my
As I mentioned previously, math and science are my primary academic interests, and I can see myself in a future career related to either of those subjects. In the past, I've shown interest in a career in engineering, and have since taken two PLTW
I have multiple dreams for my future. I hope to enter a superior college that is not too expensive or far away from my home, like Caltech, Stanford, or Berkley. I would like to graduate from college with a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in biology.
The day to day duties of a mechanical engineer are at first repetitive, but over time and with advancement work varies. The average mechanical engineer works anywhere from thirty-five to fifty hours a week. If the engineer is ahead of schedule the hours may be less. Depending on which type of engineer you want be, you will either wear a uniform or semiformal clothing. Usually mechanical engineers work in an office or at a desk, their clothes are semiformal. Mechanical engineers are mainly designing equipment, so the outside work is minimal.
I also learned that mathematics was more than merely an intellectual activity: it was a necessary tool for getting a grip on all sorts of problems in science and engineering. Without mathematics there is no progress. However, mathematics could also show its nasty face during periods in which problems that seemed so simple at first sight refused to be solved for a long time. Every math student will recognize these periods of frustration and helplessness.
As an accomplished Senior Administrative Assistant and Office Manager with over five years of support and leadership experience including medical office, human resources, health and wellness; I hold myself to a high standard of professionalism, accuracy and efficiency. My proven success in developing rapport with internal and external stakeholders demonstrates my proactive, collaborative and enthusiastic personality; as well as my strong communication, organizational, research and problem solving skills. As your reliable Office Manager my goal would be to actively represent your interests at all times, independently demonstrate sound judgement, and go above and beyond to contribute to the long term success of the business, clinicians, team
The company that I would be interested in working in is Advanced Medical Transport. They are the ambulance company in Peoria. Your day to day work is you and your partner running calls. You are working under many people, but do not necessarily see them every day. There are people in charge in the overall medical system, like the medical director. There is also the operations manager or supervisor. These are the people who manage daily detail like where everybody is going and teaching continuing education for the employees. Last semester I did a 12-hour ride along with the company and I got a look into their daily tasks. The day starts with checking medication and equipment along with fluids, lights and sirens on the vehicle. Then they
Appling best practices should be the addendum within all organization. As problems arise within an organization it is up to the organization at that time to update, seize the opportunity, improve quality, and challenge conflicts. However, the hospital in question is the District hospital where W. G. Lester is the Chief Executive Officer. The hospital is experiencing a vast of problems. For example, staffing, complaints, conflicts, not offering training programs, revenue, staff not meet patient satisfaction, admission and visits decreasing. Also, within the paper decreasing admission, problem-solving is discussed, control mechanism and training for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is discussed. The overall goal for the hospital is adopting
“Sound Engineer Technician?” “Bro, what interests do you really find in that?” “Like, what do they do?” A sound engineering technician sets up, operates and maintains special equipment used in stage, television or motion picture productions according to instructions. In other words I can be one of those guys who gets to go out and find substitution sounds for the common things people may hear everyday or stuff people never had the chance to hear before. A couple classic examples would be a sheet of hard plastic making the sound of thunder when you shake or wriggle it, or the sound of nails on a tin roof creating the sound of a hail storm. But that’s not all there is to it.
Due to the same affinity towards Mathematics, Science and research in general, I have opted for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects in high school (XII th standard), where I have scored the top marks with 91%. I have secured State 340 Rank among the 250,000 students in the Common Engineering Entrance Exam (EAMCET), it’s the only Entrance Exam for admissions into the undergraduate colleges in the state. I have also secured All India Rank of 107 ...
I am applying for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Solid Mechanics to expand on my study of and experience with materials. I have thoroughly enjoyed studying Materials Science and Engineering as an undergraduate at UCLA. I now look forward to moving into graduate study in a field of engineering with a related, but different perspective. Materials Science and Engineering has allowed me to explore both materials and other fields within engineering, contributing to my strong interest in combining my study of Materials Science and Engineering with Mechanical Engineering. I have completed basic coursework in most areas of engineering, learning statics, thermodynamics, basic programming, and circuit design. This has provided a strong foundation to continue graduate study in other engineering disciplines. I
Banking on an excellent academic record coupled with a keen interest in the ever-growing field of science and technology motivated me to take up engineering. In school, I consistently secured one of the top positions of the class. I have always been attracted towards subjects that draw upon one's analytical abilities. Thus, Mathematics and Physics were my favorite subjects and I secured 89% marks in my 12th class. I am among the top 3 percent in Engineering entrance test to UG schools out of two and half lakh students and I could get into the top ranked college of the state and one of the most reputed universities in the country, K L Uni...
I am currently taking Maths, Chemistry and Biology to Advanced Higher, all of which are challenging and stimulating subjects. They have all influenced me in different ways and were integral in my decision to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. They have also helped me obtain a foundation of core skills and extended knowledge to hopefully prepare me undertaking my desired degree. There is no doubt that Maths and chemistry have helped fine tune and advance my problem solving skills and think in a more logical manner, all of which I believe to be essential for this degree.
Generally, the factors that affect the course preference of a female engineering college undergraduates are personal characteristics (Admissions Education, n.d.), career influences (Michigan Tech, 2013) and limitations. The results in the first question are very close to each other. Even though the overall tallies are near to each other, the career influence is dominant among the other choices. This result is similar to the researched study; According to James et. al the field of study preferences, course and institutional reputations, course entry scores, easy access to home and institutional characteristics significantly influenced applicant’s choice of institution (1999). It also has the similarities on Foskett et al.’s (2006) findings that students consider more carefully economic fa...
