Measuring the Tree
I am going to measure the size of various leaves from various trees with different heights and sizes. I am also going to find out the circumference of the tree and the length (measurements) of the branches.
In order to achieve this goal, the use of a Quadrat would be useful. Throw the Quadrant in three different positions; record what species of plants and bugs were found in that certified area of the Quadrant; measure the plants (preferably 10 plants) and count the leaves on each plant's branch.
Prediction ==========
I predict that the parts of the plants will absorb more sunshine, leaving a bigger quantity of leaves and a larger surface area of branches.

Compass: - A special man made device that would show the direction of trees, pointing in a certain direction.
Quadrat: - Another special equipment used in this experiment, which helps identify and clarify the sizes of classified trees and grass.
Meter Ruler: - Suggest roughly the sizes of the trees branches and the measurements of its thickness.
Method ======
In a group of 5, we decided to find a clear spot were the Quadrat could be thrown, in order to analyse our leaves and plants. After we threw the Quadrat three times, we managed to identify the individual plants which consisted of smaller grass and more/less bugs. We then used the compass to direct us towards a tree in a certain area.
Once we had finished clarifying the types of grass, we then decided to analyse a small tree. We measured it (branch length) with the meter ruler and counted the number of leaves. (Results in table beneath). After counting the number of leaves, we began to witness many bugs, especially ladybirds on the leaves, so we took that information into thought.

In reference to a more sunny area and a shady area, plants always need light for photosynthesis, so they occur only where there is sufficient light in the darkness they become etiolated. Different species differ on the amount pf light they need. For example many daisies like bright sunlight, whereas many species of Orchids prefer shady places.
Evaluation ==========
Since the theory of LIGHT is correct in this experiment, the numbers of bugs still have a reason for appearing in certain areas of a garden and disappearing in certain places. This is because the areas with shade don't contain enough photosynthesis to keep a plant alive, which doesn't help a bug, when it needs to feeds on a plant. For example Bees get nectar and pollen from flowers (have a lot of sun rays) so the flowers need to be situated in the right area, where there is sun and need to be flowered regularly. This process is known as the
By reading one of Richard Wilbur’s poems, one can get extremely confused while trying to find the actual meaning of the poem. Someone could take the easy way out and not try to get deep down into the poem to find the real meaning, or one could investigate the poem and learn what Wilbur is trying to get across to the reader. In "Orchard Trees, January," one could pick up what Wilbur is trying to say if one takes the time to think about it. On some of his poems, though, it is nearly impossible to know what he is talking about. Only the interpretation from Wilbur himself could help one who is completely baffled by one of his poems. Authors often write their poems at the spur of the moment, and the mood that the poet is in reflects the meaning of the poem. Centenary College was lucky enough for Richard Wilbur to come to the school and explicate many of his poems. This helps in dissecting Wilbur’s poems.
To what extent do the belief systems in The King of Trees act as a means of enforcing societal norms?

Art serves the purpose of transmitting ideas about our lives and environment - forcing people to think about different aspects of our lives. Artist Andy Goldsworthy has a very specific style, creating mostly temporary art using nature as both his materials and his setting. His works range from gold leaf covered rocks to a photo of him throwing a string of kelp into the sky for it to contort into some seemingly random shape. This paper, however, will discuss Goldsworthy 's work “Sycamore Leaves Edging the Roots of a Sycamore Tree” which shows the base of a tree lined with a yellow gradient fading into the ground made from the leaves of the very tree it surrounds. Through this work,
Trees, some of them a few thousand years old, have majestically stood on the face of the earth and have silently witnessed the evolution of human civilization. These trees are the living alibis of our pasts, magnificent markers of history. With their unusual shapes, enchanting legends and historical significance, some of these trees have become more than just giant trunks. Listing below ten such trees whose wooden hearts have amazing stories to tell!
According to William Muir Auld’s book Christmas Traditions, the Christmas tree found its way into the hearts and homes of Christian people with their thoughts and sentiment. Auld writes, “On the night in which Christ was born, all the trees in the forest, despite snow and ice, bloomed and bore fruit” (Auld 138). This story was first told by a geographer of the tenth century named Georg Jacob. This story was as highly believed as the birth of Christ. Christmas trees can be dated back through writing, specifically songs and are associated with the Church, specifically to post-Reformation times. The trees, which decorate homes worldwide, are linked to a spiritual tradition practiced by a variety of religious groups. (The Fir Tree, page 241 in
In the Video "A Life in the Trees", narrated by David Attenborough many of the characteristics of primates that we have been talking about in class were highlighted. As we talked about in class, primates have two major specializations. Forward facing eyes and hands with opposable thumbs. The video mostly focused on Lemurs, monkeys, and apes. It was clear that, while each one of these groups of primates has those same two specializations, they all use them in slightly different ways, depending on where they evolved.
Paul Celan composed his feelings for his mother regarding both her life and her passing in his poem “Aspen Tree.” The entire work is a vessel for his emotions toward her early departure and comparisons of the life she lived with various objects in nature. However, one emblem in particular perfectly represents Celan’s idealization of his mother. It can be argued that Celan uses the dandelion to epitomize his mother’s life because it highlights his themes of transiency, the light of life within darkness, and the cheating nature of death. Comparison between the dandelion, other wonders in nature, and his mother’s life support this claim as well as contextual hints from the piece itself.
The Cherry Orchard describes the lives of a group of Russians, in the wake of the Liberation of the slaves. The action takes place over the course of five or six months, but the histories of the characters are so complex that in many ways, the play begins years earlier. The actor I choose to write on was Yermolai Alexseyevich (played by Erin Despanie) he is the other lead character in The Cherry Orchard. In my opinion his character was dramatic and effortless it caught my attention the moment he appeared in the scene. He is awaken to memories, in the beginning moments on-stage, he tells of a time if his ancestor exhausted him, “His father and grandfather were serfs who were drinkers on the cherry orchard estate all of their lives, and abuse him” but his short response was as well relates to Madame Ranevskaya's consecutive affection to him that managed to use the Liberation of the slavery to his full advantage and is now a wealthy landowner and a shrewd businessman.
Tariq Ali uniquely puts into perspective the horrific tragedies behind the Spanish reconquest in his work, Shadows of the Pomegranate Tree, by capturing the history in the perspective of a Muslim family who lived in a village just outside of recently conquered Granada. He does this in order to expose the cruelty and intolerance of the Archbishop Xemenes de Cineros. Ali also uncovers the faults in not only Christianity, but also in Islamic ideology by having many character’s from the family Banu Hudayl debating and questioning Islamic beliefs which may parallel with the author’s own beliefs, or lack thereof. (Tariq) One of Ali’s strongest focuses however, was to expose the lack of urgency many Muslims felt after the fall of Granada. Many Muslim’s
In the article, "Tree Doctors" it talks about the jobs of an arborists. The article is an Q&A about the qualities to be an arborists and information about their work. An arborists are tree trimmers that help maintain and protect trees or any plants. In order to be an arborists, you have to take a course in plant science, landscaping or any course that relates to taking plants. Arborists job is dangerous because they work at a high areas near power lines and use chainsaws which are hazardous. They are hired by companies that needs help keep trees and bushes to be maintained and gets paid $14 hourly wage. Tree doctors are important to keep our society/environment to be greener.
Trees are terrific. They cover the world and provide air and beauty for all to enjoy. Yes indeed trees are terrific. There are many uses for trees and their byproducts. Everywhere we look there are trees or some kind of shrub that always give us something to look at.
Trees are usually considered as bland, unusual objects that are usually taken for granted; however, I believe there is more to a tree that meets the eye. They supply oxygen and shade. During the holidays, trees are able to spread holiday cheer by wearing holiday decorations. Through providing, they are always beneficial to the needs of others. Rather than having striking beauty like a flower, trees have are grounded and possess a gentle beauty; they are adapted wildflowers to their environment. In fact, if I had to compare myself to an inanimate object, I would choose a tree. A tree has many characteristics in common with me. Characteristics like relying on our roots, strength and observation, and helping others and leaving behind a powerful legacy are a few of the traits we share. All of which I believe are admirable qualities to possess.
Trees are one of the most important parts of the biosphere. They provide oxygen, which is one of the largest producers of life. Humans live and strive off of oxygen every second of their lives. Not just humans need oxygen to survive and thrive on Earth, but animals, and other creatures on the planet do as well. Trees are a huge part of all life and if they were gone, there would consequently be no form of life. Not only do trees create all forms of life, but they create beautiful surroundings for an area and create a comfortable and shady environment for all surrounding life. Even though trees seem to be everywhere you look, the planet is losing billions upon billions of them a year. Anywhere from three billion to six billion trees are lost every year, ("How Many Trees Are Cut Down Every Year? Rainforest Action Network Blog. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Apr. 2014”). With this fact in thought, it shows that planting one tree can create a bigger difference than you realize.
