A couple years ago, before I created this site I released a book about my story. The premise of the book was that the tools to use to create better stories that can also be used by the rest of us to live better lives. In just a few weeks my books are sold out. It feels great and overwhelmed knowing that your story is supported and loved by many readers across the world. The idea to have a meaningful story is actually pretty simple. To live a great story, you should know that our lives should reflect the element of our story to make it great. So here's the tips:
•Every story has a character or characters. In God's design, we are the principal character of our story so put yourself as the only character in any story you will write. In other words, you are the storyteller and the principal character. However the story may be about something other than
To have a good story, there must be good characters. Characters help the reader relate to the plot and struggle of the story, as well as creating a picture of the scenes on each page. But what exactly makes a character? What defines their personalities and relatableness to the reader? The way a character thinks, acts, and views the world are influenced, much like in the real world, by the people and places around them.
Mary Pipher’s “Writing to Connect” focuses on persuading its reader through personal experience, expert testimonies, and figurative language that his writing can change the world. At the end of the text, Pipher hopes that her reader believes that one’s words have value and can impact others.
As people age they will often still recall a good childhood story. A well told, meaningful story can go a long way when attempting to argue a point or convey information. In the essays, ''The Myth of The Latin Women: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria" by Judith Ortiz Cofer, "Gains and Losses" by Richard Rodriquez, and "Piecing It All Together" by bell hooks, the authors connect to the reader and create a better audience through their writing. Through the portrayal of a story the authors help the reader understand their point of view, they transfer information to the reader with better ease, and keep the reader engaged the authors argue a point or convey information more efficiently.
The point of stories it to tell a tale and inflict certain emotions onto the reader. Tim O’Brien uses this in his novel The Things They Carried. These stories were fictional but true, regaling his experiences of war. In the last chapter he writes that stories have the ability to save people. He does not mean “save” in a biblical sense, but as if a person saved the progress on a game they have been playing.
A good story is one that isn't demanding, that proceeds from A to B, and above all doesn't remind us of the bad times, the cardboard patches we used to wear in our shoes, the failed farms, the way people you love just up and die. It tells us instead that hard work and perseverance can overcome all obstacles; it tells lie after lie, and the happy ending is the happiest lie of all. (85)
readers a dose of reality and human experience. People read literature and end up learning
“Its like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.” This quote is said by Patrick Rothfuss. In the book, True Notebooks, by Mark Salzman his students tell you many stories that people get to become apart of. Reading stories by other people makes their life more interesting. The power of storytelling is really important, because they have to catch your attention to make you want to hear more. Three stories from the book, True Notebooks, that suck out to me were: “The G Ride”, “Another Screw Up”, and a story without a title by Dale.
What elements are needed to create a good short story? As John Dufrense quoted "A good story has a visionary quality, a personal voice, a signature gesture(1969). The elements used should be used so strongly that it pulls you in; forcing you to connect to the people in the story. Not every story is written well enough to be capable of doing this. This also creates a connection with the reader; leaving some type of effect or impacting the reader along with the characters’ lives. Although there are many elements in writing but one of the greatest things of writing is the ability to make the reader empathize with the characters. This goes beyond than just a connection with the characters; when the reader is able to apprehend with the characters he or she is truly relating and reaching out to them. The author has accomplished something truly special when the reader has the ability to feel the agony that a character is feeling.
The importance of a story is to have a purpose and meaning, through this, people are able to engage and learn with what is being told to them, it has to have a connection to the past, bringing it to the present and to involve both the body and mind senses. Through storytelling the audience should gain an understanding and have a sense of emotion touched and come alive, they should also be able to explore the possibilities within their culture and feel a deep connection to country.
Now try “How and Why” (690). This short story forces the reader to question the meaning of life. Every story has the same ending, because every life has the same ending. Life is exciting because of the experiences that can lead each individual onto their own path in life. The how and the why are the inspirations, the feelings, and the interpretations that the reader goes through as they make their own way through version A.
The narratives is a necessary component. The narratives lead the audience to think about the event that the speaker talked about. Expression of values and goals is the main aim of narratives. (Hampton, 2004) stated that stories provide frames for understanding experiences, explaining and solving problems, and giving emphasis to moral value.
Story and Focus in Rhino: A Brief Criticism of Story Spine in Rhino. Nearly all great screenplays, novels, poems, well, just about all creative writings have a story spine, a main theme, a primary path. Authors do not wander too far from the main story. Similar to walking down a worn trail in the woods, you can take a few side trails, but even these offshoot trails must help you keep you moving toward your objective, supporting the story theme, the spine.
What makes books so meaningful to people? People can tell what the story is about by the theme of the story. The theme of a story is underlying meaning of the story, or the foundation of the story. Without a good foundation, then the story is not going to be very good or meaningful. It’s not only about that too.
Fiction has become quite popular and relevant in today’s society. Because of its widespread influence, it has become very powerful. From reading fiction, I get to experience adventures and ideas that I cannot experience in reality. Fiction makes me use my imagination, something that tends to get used less as one matures. It is important to have something that can inspire one’s imagination as then one can strengthen their creativity and innovation.
I believe that writing stories gives you more of an appreciation and understanding for a good book. All of the ideas that make a book come alive is from one author with an amazing imagination, who can captivate someone’s mind and tuck them into their world for a few hours. Every day in class I was allowed one hour to dedicate my time into a story, it is almost like entering your main character’s mind and acting as if it was you.
