Advertising companies have found ways to implement their ads into schools. These advertising companies convince schools to input their logos onto their sports equipments, around their school campus, and even during events in return for the company’s support with money. Although these schools are receiving money from the advertising companies, they do not realise that they are earning less than the company. Allowing corporate sponsorship in an academic environment can be degrading towards the school, leaving them with a negative image, the company will ultimately be earning more money, students will be corruptive into greediness and the school along with the students will be seen as unprofessional.

Unhealthy choices varying in how it is promoted can bring about negative feedback from others, surrounding the school. The lifestyle in which McDonald's is given can be seen as childish, giving schools who are sponsoring them backlash from criticizers; since the school is seen as a serious learning environment. Also, parents may not think that it is in their children's best interest to be sponsoring such an unhealthy restaurant. Most schools try to promote a healthy environment, causing challenges to arise if they promote/ sponsor a fast food company. Besides that McDonalds is known to be a nationwide popular restaurant who probably has other people sponsoring them, which may indeed lead to unwanted attention that will hurt the schools image for what it stands for by the Champions of Character and Champions of Scholarship. However sponsoring McDonalds can be beneficial considering their efforts in educational programs it has to build character and responsibility. Not only that, but McDonalds does give scholarships to struggling students in need of …show more content…
Nevertheless there comes to a certain extent where a gift or prize stops symbolizing as an inspiration, but instead embodies the idea that in order to have an interest in taking up a challenging position there must be a reward. Back in the year of 2014, the orchestra class of Hector Godinez Fundamental High School received a generous donation from the Taco-Bell Foundation for Teens, along with a performance from Young the Giant. Never more than a gracious offer from Taco Bell, there was no big reward, but just a sense of hope and encouraging students to be artistic and follow their dreams. There could be no actual corruption, but most of the times sponsor corporations do enable the idea that kids, accordingly students in schools will have a physical reward waiting for them after accomplishing an academic achievement. The Santa Unified School district is responsible for holding their annual Chevrolet raffle, where a student who has had perfect attendance a whole semester (or year not sure double check here) has the chance of winning a free Chevrolet car. Students can want to continue their perfect attendance not because they truly care for waking up super early in the morning and then going off for six hours of learning but the idea of a free brand new car is quite intriguing. Children all over the United States recognize
This analysis paper will analyze one advertisement picture that was produced by the mega food chain known as McDonalds. The ad is exuberantly promoting three cheeseburgers that the fast food chain is attempting to sell. The three cheeseburgers on the advertisement are the more popular attractions of the fast food chain including the “Angus Deluxe Third pounder”, the “Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese”, and the most famous one of all, “The Big Mac”. These three cheeseburgers have been the baseline for the McDonalds fast food chain ever since the restaurant opened. The burgers are also known world wide, making this advertisement is just a way to get the public to come and buy there food.
The Letter from Birmingham Jail was written by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in April of 1963. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of several civil rights activists who were arrested in Birmingham Alabama, after protesting against racial injustices in Alabama. Dr. King wrote this letter in response to a statement titled A Call for Unity, which was published on Good Friday by eight of his fellow clergymen from Alabama. Dr. King uses his letter to eloquently refute the article. In the letter dr. king uses many vivid logos, ethos, and pathos to get his point across. Dr. King writes things in his letter that if any other person even dared to write the people would consider them crazy.
For the first rhetoric article, I chose the McPick 2 McDonalds commercial. This commercial displays pathos with a catchy jingle playing throughout the ad, and how they repeat, “Let me get a McPick 2.” It displays ethos because McDonalds is a well known fast food chain that many people like, so people are normally going to believe what they say. It shows logos by explaining how the deal works, and how the food is delicious, or juicy, which makes you want to go eat some of the food. I think this commercial is very effective because they put a catchy jingle in your mind about juicy food. This makes you want to go eat at McDonalds.
Pollan’s article provides a solid base to the conversation, defining what to do in order to eat healthy. Holding this concept of eating healthy, Joe Pinsker in “Why So Many Rich Kids Come to Enjoy the Taste of Healthier Foods” enters into the conversation and questions the connection of difference in families’ income and how healthy children eat (129-132). He argues that how much families earn largely affect how healthy children eat — income is one of the most important factors preventing people from eating healthy (129-132). In his article, Pinsker utilizes a study done by Caitlin Daniel to illustrate that level of income does affect children’s diet (130). In Daniel’s research, among 75 Boston-area parents, those rich families value children’s healthy diet more than food wasted when children refused to accept those healthier but
Analyzing the codes used in the University of Arizonas Natural Science On-line Class Attendance Policy, a genre emerges disparaging the traditional view that knowledge is sharpened through the exchange of ideas. To make the class more appealing to non-traditional students the University has designed an attendance policy which does not eliminate traditional forms of interaction, but instead devalues them subversively thus discounting their necessity. Connotations within the policy divert the unsuspecting student into a particular learning mode. This mode, unappreciative of the insights a typical class would normally culture, does not encourage the student to be "present" mentally, an imperative aspect of becoming educated in a cyber class. Therefore by establishing the existence of these de-prioritizing codes, and the extent to which they must inevitably shape the interpretation of the text, we can clarify the level of interaction the policy genuinely intends. We see then the probability of students relating to the individualistic tone of the policy and discounting the requirements to attend to and with others.
In a quote by John Mill, “Does fining a criminal show want of respect for property, or imprisoning him, for personal freedom? Just as unreasonable is it to think that to take the life of a man who has taken that of another is to show want of regard for human life. We show, on the contrary, most emphatically our regard for it, by the adoption of a rule that he who violates that right in another forfeits it for himself, and that while no other crime that he can commit deprives him of his right to live, this shall.” Everyone’s life is precious, but at what price? Is it okay to let a murderer to do as they please? Reader, please take a moment and reflect on this issue. The issue will always be a conflict of beliefs and moral standards. The topic
In a persuasive essay, rhetorical appeals are a very important tool to influence the audience toward the author’s perspective. The three rhetorical appeals, which were first developed by Aristotle, are pathos, logos, and ethos. Pathos appeals to the emotions of the audience, logos appeals to the facts or evidence and ethos exhibits the credibility of the writer.
The movie trailer “Rio 2”, shows a great deal of pathos, ethos, and logos. These rhetorical appeals are hidden throughout the movie trailer; however, they can be recognized if paying attention to the details and montage of the video. I am attracted to this type of movies due to the positive life messages and the innocent, but funny personifications from the characters; therefore, the following rhetorical analysis will give a brief explanation of the scenes, point out the characteristics of persuasive appeals and how people can be easily persuaded by using this technique, and my own interpretation of the message presented in the trailer.
Jonathan Kozol revealed the early period’s situation of education in American schools in his article Savage Inequalities. It seems like during that period, the inequality existed everywhere and no one had the ability to change it; however, Kozol tried his best to turn around this situation and keep track of all he saw. In the article, he used rhetorical strategies effectively to describe what he saw in that situation, such as pathos, logos and ethos.
Marketers are often accused of marketing to children to gain higher profits. Young children are targeted because they usually do not know right from wrong. Many people have criticized McDonald’s for advertising the Happy Meal towards young children for higher profits. Some people consider it unethical because the Happy Meal is so unhealthy. However, McDonald’s has taken many initiatives to show that it is a corporation that does not manipulate children for profit and that they care for children. The Ronald McDonald House Charities organization was created by McDonalds in 1974 to help children in need. The organization believes that helping one child will go a long way, and they express their commitment in their vision statement, “We believe when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community and, ultimately, the world” (Ronald McDonald House Charity). McDonald’s also provides donations for many other children’s charities and has taken steps to improve the Happy Meals by providing healthier options. McDonalds works hard towards making children all ove...
First, corporate sponsorship can be good for schools because it provides them with materials or equipment that they need. Some schools don't have the money to buy brand new sports uniforms or equipment. With corporate sponsorships, they may pay for your necessities as long as you use their product. Another reason corporate sponsorships can benefit schools is kids can develop healthy eating habits from the advertising. For example, when I was in middle school my school had a “got milk” poster on the wall.
Furthermore, this advance advertising helps more individuals to resonate with McDonald 's as they actively promote their business and its offerings than other competitors. Additionally, McDonald 's has way more locations in which to purchase items such as their hamburgers. Therefore, more children tend to recognize it and want it more than places such as Burger King or Wendy 's. This is all mainly due to the reputable brand and its well known reputation. LIkewise, children constantly see McDonald signs and advertisements.
The first reason why I think we should sponsors for school is because they can provide the school with their product like Worland High School is sponsored by Pepsi we have vending machines I’m sure they come around and fill them up whenever they need it filled. Having sponsors makes you have motivation because somebody is paying for your equipment and the things you need like sports. Whenever you start off doing something u always want to get sponsored because that sponsor can help you out a lot it also helps with the business to. I think all schools should have at least one sponsor to help out not only with sports but if the school gets sponsored by technology businesses then they could help with the new computers new phone around the school. I think they should have Sponsors because it helps the school out by getting new equipment that the school can have for students.
Corporate sponsorships allow schools the ability to have better uniforms for sports, or if needed new desks. For example, my school has had the same desks since my parents have gone to school. We don’t have to have new ones but it would be nice. Which is valuable for the schools in debt. Lots of schools are in serious debt right now.
In addition, kids may stoop low to get the prize if offered money for fantastic grades. According to a study done by the University of Chicago, kids tend to find ways to get excellent grades, some of which aren’t acceptable, when money is offered. If students are truly cheating, they wouldn’t be learning anything and are just being paid for nothing. The money simply fuels such behavior, which will most certainly remain with them as adults. On the whole, students should not be paid for dishonest cheating and measures used for good
