As a mayor begins or continues their term of office, their overall purpose is as leader of the council and a number of roles which are both legislative and functional. The mayor not only takes precedence at all municipal proceedings within the municipality but must also take the chair at all meetings of the council at which he or she is present. The mayor’s role extends well beyond officiating at council meetings or other municipal proceedings and includes providing leadership, promoting positive relationships, and modelling good governance.

Furthermore, as a Mayor what they display across their social media platform and overall representation matters immensely. Mayor Carey Davis is very well represented on all social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Carey Davis does display a sufficient amount of updating posts such as city events and news on all his platforms. Conveying a very involved and connecting Mayor but on the San Bernardino City Website, “About the Mayor”, only 3 paragraphs about the Mayor are displayed and a single picture of himself. Even so, Carey Davis’s Staff section is very small with little biographies. In comparison, the Mayor of Riverside, Mr. Rusty Bailey, shows a more prominent biography, displays his family pictures and a picture of him involved in a city event. As well, on the Riversides Mayors Department website, the Mayor’s staffs have their individual pictures and biographies, included as a special section are their individual passions. …show more content…

Paradoxically , Colton City Mayor, Richard A. De la Rosa and Rialto City Mayor, Deborah Robertson show very little expression of self interest in their City Website biographies with no current social media platforms; similarly, Redlands City Mayor, Paul W. Foster show no appeal in having social media platforms and ways to keep their community updated and
