In a movie where good and evil are divided by a very thin line, the Dark Knight rises up to fight against injustice and corruption in Gotham City. An action sequel to the original Batman Begins, this installment is a lot darker filled with more explosion, twists, and suspense. For the first time, a comic has been integrated into the issues of the real world. With the help of District Attorney Harvey Dent and Lieutenant Gordon, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining mob members and clean the streets of Gotham for good. Their success is only short-lived when they encounter the Joker, a mysterious mastermind who is out to prove that nobility cannot hold in a world of anarchy.
From the beginning, Batman continues with his war on crime. With the assistance of Lieutenant Gordon and newly elected District Attorney Harvey Dent, they begin locking up the remaining criminal organizations that infect the city streets. This alliance proves to be unstoppable until they find themselves victim to a reign of anarchy released by a mysterious and devious mastermind known as the Joker. His psychological games begin wreaking havoc in Gotham. As Batman fails to stop the Joker, he begins to see himself turn into the villain. While all of this chaos is happening in Gotham, a love triangle develops between Bruce Wayne, Dent Harvey, and Rachael Dawes. Batman must confront himself and everything he believes in if he wants to defeat the Joker once and for all.
Once again, Christopher Nolan comes back with a talented cast and even better storyline. Nolan goes beyond the comic in this film and reaches out to a more philosophical meaning. There is a feeling of tension throughout the film’s 152 minutes of genius. The intense violence is one of the mos...

...efendant points a gun at him, he quickly grabs the gun and point it back at the defendant’s face. Quickly, the security guards drag him out and Dent exclaims to the judge, “But your honor, I’m not done.” His sense of humor wins everyone in the courtroom over and eventually the whole city.
The themes and issues that The Dark Knight brings up are obviously for a more mature viewer. Many children and young teens that watch this movie will like it only for the explosion and violence. However, the deeper meaning and acting are what truly makes this movie one that you cannot miss. The psychological twist and turns will keep the viewers on edge. Like many of Nolan’s work such as Inception, it is difficult to find any flaws with the film. From the beginning, one can predict that its going to be a wild ride. A almost perfect 4.5 out of 5 is what the film deserves.
“A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.” Behind all the action in The Dark Knight Rises is an important portrayal of crime and deviance in society. The superficial analysis of the plot makes The Dark Knight Rises seem like a simple hero and villain story and nothing more. However, the film expresses concepts of justice and provides an important depiction of strain theory and the labeling theory.
But I do know one thing, Batman was there for us when we needed him the most. He separated us from our darkest nightmares every night. He guarded our houses and protected our families, our friends, and our children. Batman stood up for what he believed, he always had us, the people of Gotham in his best interest. What more could we have asked Batman to do? I could stand up here and say "I never knew the man," but that might not be the truth. During my life, I have known many men, many men who are full of strength, courage, and virtue. Any of these men could have been the Batman and I would have never been aware. However good men still walk among us today, even without Batman. These good men and women are my hope, my consolation for
The purpose of this paper is to provide the reader with an insight into the Super Hero Series Batman. This crime fighter originally appeared in Detective Comics issue #27 in 1939. It later became a comic book series, a TV series and a movie series. The character Batman is second only to Superman as a Super Hero. Amazingly Batman has no super powers, but he does have a lot of neat crime fighting gadgets. In this paper, we will explore the creation of Batman, his supporting cast of characters both good and bad and the gadgets he used.
The third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy starts eight years after The Dark Knight ends, while Batman is still struggling with the defeat he suffered at the hands of the Joker. Early on in The Dark Knight Rises, it is made clear that Bruce Wayne, the hero whom is better known as Batman, has hung up his cape and turned into a recluse. At a social event at the Wayne mansion, Gotham’s mayor, city commissioner, police chief, and other high profile officials are all seen remembering the anniversary of the death of the false hero Harvey Dent. As they pay tribute to Dent, they discuss how much Gotham’s crime problem has improved. They mention Gotham’s crime rates are at a record low, that the Batman is still being hunted for Dent’s murder, and that the Batman and Bruce Wayne have not been spotted in public for months. However, they see the Batman’s absence as a good thing. They all attribute the success of Gotham’s police force to the wave of action Dent’s death
The antithesis of Batman - The Joker, a terrorist and deranged killer. He is madness incarnate. However there is a profound simplicity, a calm at times within The Jokers brutal character “Why so serious?” (Joker The Dark Knight). The character treads a fine line between insanity and great brilliance. It is this menacing attitude that makes him such a prolific villain, he wants nothing but to be “an agent of chaos” (Joker The Dark Knight). He stands for anarchy and madness, the creation of a changing society post 9/11, a terrorist threatening to voice out and defy the government going against the dominant system. He sets about knocking out the system from the ground up, one by one creating fear and anarchy “the only sensible way to live in this world is without rules”...
That is a reason why he is fighting against Batman. This is seen when he said “I don’t want to kill you.” to Batman. Because Batman is a hero everyone thinks that Joker is bad. But that is wrong. Even though he kills people he is doing it for justice but Batman thinks that joker is killing innocent people which creates confusion between him and Batman. This shows that Joker is a true vigilante because even though there is a big barrier in front of him, he will never stop trying to fix Gotham City.‘Joker kills people, that is why Batman is fighting against him.’ This statement is wrong because there is secrets behind him and he always thinks that Gotham city should be fixed.
Batman (Christian Bale) is hoping to hand on his crime fighting duties to D.A Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) yet when Batman’s cards are on the table the twisted mastermind who goes by the name of the joker (Heath Ledger), forces the masked vigilante to go against everything he ever stood for.
Batman and police commissioner James Gordon try to rid the Gotham of organized crime while combating the rise of the menacing and terrorizing psychopath villain, the Joker. (uci.edu) It’s important to take notice of the other clowns featured throughout the movie as well as their roles in the heist. This is crucial and singles the Joker out as the odd man.
...s film is tense enough that you are on edge from the production company logo to the ending credits. Having been horribly desensitized to fictional violence over the years, it is refreshing to see a movie that is not afraid to invoke the natural emotion during a horror film to its most extreme. This also leads to the knowledge that not everything will come out rosy for some, if not all, of our core group.
Why so serious? If I were to ask you that question six months ago, you wouldn’t understand the phrase. Now that The Dark Knight has been made though, most people will understand what I am talking about. Ever since The Dark Knight was created, the joker has been thrust back into the public eye. Most people only know the joker from the performances of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight and Jack Nicholson in the 1989 film Batman. Most people forget that the Joker has been a villain since 1940 in Batman #1 (spring edition). The Joker has been reinvented every decade since his first appearance. He started off as a homicidal maniac, then a criminal that was just a harmless nuisance to becoming a mass murdering, schizophrenic clown that we know today. He has been named number one on the Wizard’s list for one hundred all-time villains. In this speech I will tell you how the joker was created, the criminal career of the joker, and trademark characteristics of the joker.
Christopher Nolan, the british-american director of the critically acclaimed “Momento” and the most recent “Batman” movies has a fearless mentality for the complicated plots and epic themes which his films bestow. And one of his most epic new thrillers and astonishing new story is his 2010, “Inception.” Over ten years, Nolan had contemplated the idea of a movie around the dream world where action scenes could be manipulated and redoubled continuously. And that time of sitting on the idea led Nolan to dig much deeper into the idea that though before, diving into the realm of dreams within dreams and tiered action within each dream level as they go deeper into the subconscious. In Christopher Nolan’s “Inception,” the main character Cobb remarks, “The mind creates and perceives our world. It does it so well, we don’t realize that we’re doing it.” To tell a story about a man washed up on the shore of his own subconscious, Nolan captivates audiences by propelling them along his non-traditional narratives full of complex themes and intricate story lines. He blurs the lines of reality and dream through parallel editing, set design and architecture. As a result the audience believes whole heartedly the repeated notion that “downward is the only way forward.”
Inception remains one of the most complex and deeply engaging narratives of this century. By defying traditional filmmaking, Nolan crafts a stunning cinema masterpiece that plays with the human subconscious. Equally, he provides audiences with the question of whether their reality is true, or perhaps the world they know is a dream. Paralleling the film’s ambiguous ending, the line between reality and the dream world is blurred due to the exceptional strategies Nolan and his team utilize. Mise-en-scéne elements of setting, brilliant cinematography, and profound editing techniques institute the film’s prevailing narrative form and motifs. Many film directors manipulate the concept of fantasy versus reality, but instead of providing a mundane exposition, fantasy becomes the new reality in Inception.
Batman Begins has an incredible amount of struggles that not only Bruce Wayne must face but all of Gotham must face. The first of many of these was Thomas and Martha Wayne's sudden death at the beginning. This left both the people of Gotham and Bruce Wayne to struggle along without them “Their deaths galvanized the city into saving itself and Gotham has limped on ever since.” (Batman Begins, Ras Al Ghul, Scene 31) This also created much anger and rage in Bruce Wayne that he released as Batman. There is also the struggle with the crime rate in Gotham and keeping alive the cities slowly falling government. These things differ from the Dark Knight where the struggles are with mainly the Joker and his actions. Many more unexpected and out of control struggles occur in The Dark Knight. The Joker (mastermind terrorist) creates many series of problems and difficulties for Batman, Gordon, Dent, and all of Gotham in general. Another big problem, quite different from the first one is the capturing of Joker. Unlike the first film, the struggles of The Dark Knight are much more external while the first one was fixing what was on Gotham’s internal problems. An example was after Rachel’s death it changed Harvey into an evil person therefore changing the whole ending of the movie, and a lot of the next one. Another big difference between the two films is The Dark Knight has a lot more violence and explosions,
Best known for his unique and non-linear style and to many people as the best director of the past decade, Christopher Jonathan James Nolan or just simply Christopher Nolan, is one of the most talented and influential film directors and screenwriters of our time. He, like most directors have never studied film and is a self-taught filmmaker. In this essay I am going to write about his early life and how he got into filmmaking. His early career and his rise to fame with Batman movies, his personal life and the influences he have had on the film industry which makes him one of the best directors of all time and my personal favorite.
...n (Director) mistakenly seems to believe can carry the whole film. On the strength "based on a true story", he has rejected attention-grabbing characters, an imaginative plot, and unforgettable villains.
