“The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his” (Moore, 2011). This quote perfectly describes the book The Other Wes Moore. This book was a story about two people who have the same name and grew up in similar environments, but had very different lives. The author of the book, Mr. Moore, became successful and was given the opportunity to receive “one of the most prestigious academic awards for students in the world” (Moore, 2011). On the other side of the spectrum, the other Wes Moore “will spend every day until his death behind bars for an armed robbery that left a police officer and a father of five dead” (Moore, 2011). Literary villains are all around us. For instance, Voldemort from Harry Potter and Darth Vader from Star Wars. What makes a villain? They will go through anyone or damage anything to reach their goal. No matter how small or how tall they are, anyone can be a villain. One of the worst literary villains is Erik Fisher from Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor. He is a liar and a thief. Those traits are what makes the best villains. Throughout the book, Erik shows that he is a villain through his vile and offensive behavior, his need for power, and his insanity.
In The Other Wes Moore, the author and a neighbor have the same name, Wes Moore, and they both begin their lives in similar ways. However, as their lives progress, they begin to part. For example, both “lost” their fathers when they were young. Because of the way their mothers respond to this loss, the boys’ lives begin to separate. Both mothers have different responses to challenges in general, which eventually leads them to respond to their child’s actions in contrasting ways. Throughout this novel, readers learn that depending on how a mother decides to react to the negative actions of their child’s actions, the child can either lead a successful life or lead a life of failure.

Herbet D. Simans, Derek Van Rheenen, and Martin V. Covington focuses their argument on academic motivation of student athletes and what drives them to want to succeed in the classroom as well as on the court or field. Although Flynn also focuses on academic motivation of student athletes, he also discusses how colleges tend to spend more money on sports related necessities for the students instead of towards their education. Flynn’s argument displays how colleges are basically a business...
Over the past 4 months, I have had the opportunity to spend some time observing the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Joy Christian School, Coach Scott Brown. I also worked with a club team Coach, Oliver. It has been an eye-opening experience to see all of the different facets that go into coaching a high school team. Prior to this experience, I have always been a player. Stepping out of a players shoes and into a coach’s shoes has shown me many new aspects of the game. One of the most important things I have learned is that coaching is not a seasonal position. If you want to be successful, you must work hard all year long. Another observation that I made is that the low salary of $3,000 will not support a family. However, I would be more than willing to have a second job that fits around my schedule. I would love the opportunity to be a head basketball coach at a High School or College level.
It took a group effort to get almost everyone home safely. There were only about ten characters throughout the whole book and almost all of them were Round characters. There were few settingings but the settings given were very descriptive. The book had lots of action in it so there were several high points in the plot. The book Avalanche showed many examples of perseverance and the dangers of an avalanche through characterization, setting, and theme.

As the expectations of professional sports coaches get higher, the lack of true athleticism in young athletes means there is a problem in recruiting for these sports.. Throughout America, there are thousands of coaches that do private lessons with athletes. Despite the plethora of coaches, there is a severe lack of them that teach actual athleticism. This gap in the market provides an excellent opportunity to cause a disruption in the market, allowing a new niche to be taken advantage of. Since this market is largely untapped, most players go through their career, unaware of their lack of athleticism, keeping them from their full potential.
