This paper will examine my personal answers to three questions presented by Indian Wesleyan University. motivation to continue my education and earn my Masters of Science in Nursing degree (MSN). My motivation for education in nursing spans through my personal dedication and effort to promote health and wellness to the public.
What is your motivation to earn the Masters of Science in Nursing Degree
It has always been a goal of mine to continue my education beyond my bachelors of science in nursing to earn a higher degree as a nurse practitioner. My motivation also derived from my childhood, clinical placements, experience of my preceptors and the knowledge of my advisors. Having the opportunity to be taught by faculty that encourages the students by showing support in post graduate studies and programs was beneficial motivator.
Early in my childhood I was faced with task that many adults could not undertake. I had thirteen years of personal experience with disabilities from my mother who has Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Giving medication, going to appointments and, listening to doctors who were specialists in internal medicine and rheumatology increased my knowledge and education at a very young age. This experience led me to look into the NP program because I found my curiosity and interest in helping my mother with her chronic illness, motivation to pursue a nursing degree.
In addition, Professors of Lakeview College of Nursing have motivated me to continue my education. They have expressed how important it is to continue to learn and provide the highest level of expertise in nursing. ...ty does not have to be a negative factor in their future. Showing at risk youth they can achieve and become anything they set your mind to with dedication and hard work.
I don’t want to see the current youth in low income areas to become another statistic. Taking control of your health is crucial in not becoming another number in the toll of STD’s, youth pregnancies and much more. Giving them the confidence and encouragement to care about their health and their education is personal mission of mine. Having my NP will allow me to work with the desired population at a higher level of skill and knowledge in order to promote change.
