Whenever a mass shooting occurs, people ask if tighter gun-control measures could have prevented the slaughter. In my opinion, restricting gun sales to anyone found guilty of a violent crime would be the most effective. Enforcing background checks in gun sales could prevent any potential threat to our society. Another method would be strengthening sentences for illegal gun possession. The fear of punishment is something our criminal justice system implemented for a long time.

The warning signs must be unavoidable. Mass shooters plan out the whole massacre. Many of the have a history of criminal background. Threat assessment has been around for a while now. I feel like when someone’s on the web purchasing firearms and ammunition its up to local authorities to make their first move.
Victims are targeted for a specific reason that only makes sense to the perpetrator. The victims are familiar to the shooters. Some just want to inflict harm as much as possible on random victims. The location, time, and targets are chosen for a reason. People have to be more aware of the environment incase of any possible danger. Taking notes of where the nearest exit is can be very helpful. Mass murders underscores the security vulnerabilities of open-air attractions. Mass shooters like to recapture dominance or honor through violence.
Schools have been a poplar location for mass shootings. The number of security has increased in the past century. Public and Private schools installed more cameras around the area. Students must go through metal detectors every day before going to class. Schools are conducting a high number of active shooter drills throughout the year.
