The weather was really crazy and the waves were going back in fourth really hard, the storm was so strong it could have ripped the ship into half but that didn't happen but they say that all the people on the ship fell off to there doom and maybe some found land and never found a way back. On that day the weather was very dark and there was lighting going to air the thunder was really strong and some say that the thunder hit the ship and the crew members all died but this is a hard theory because there was no thunder marks on the ship when it sailed at land and the people checked the
Edward Smith is to blame because when they hit the iceberg they still went on while the ship had a hole in it filling with water. Once they knew that they were filling with water they closed all doors under the ship so it wouldn't sink as fast. They watched the as they went by the iceberg after they had hit it and
There are mysteries which man can only guess at, which may only ever truly be solved in part; the SS Edmund Fitzgerald’s sinking is one of them. At the time it was launched in 1958, the 729-foot long, 75-foot wide freighter was the largest ship to ply the Great Lakes. Although, on November 9, 1975 the ship embarked upon what would become its final voyage. She was carrying 26,000 tons of iron ore pellets and bound for Detroit, and though the day was bright, in her path laid great turbulence. On November 10, at 1:00am, the first signs of trouble appeared, and prevailed into the afternoon. As the waves built, luck was neither with the ship nor the crew. At 7:10 PM, Captain McSorley delivered what was to be his final message "We are holding our own." Ten minutes later, the Fitzgerald could neither be raised by radio, nor detected on radar, and no distress signal was received. With that, the ship and crew of 29 men sank to the bottom of Lake Superior. Several expeditions have been mounted to the wreck and have been the subject of some controversy. There are many theories for how the Fitzgerald found itself hundreds of feet below the water; however none of them have been proven indefinitely. One possible cause of this disaster includes the ship crossing the Superior Shoal, with water as shallow as 22 feet. Additionally, the ship may have suffered a stress fracture and broke apart on the surface. Another possibility is that the ship succumbed to the forces of the Three Sisters, a Lake Superior phenomenon, consisting of massive waves. These current theories are merely conjectures, and since each holds the possibility of being true, it cannot yet be determined which one actually is.
The picture of the crewmen; Michael Moran, Dale Murphy, Alfred Pierre, Robert Shatford, david Sullivan and Frenky Billy Tyne Jr. on the Boat shows the viewer how they had to dress everyday to work and what they would have been wearing when the boat capsized and sank but the bodies were never found. This picture shows the imagery of how life as a fishermen would look like on the open seas. This also gives insight to how the ranking of the crewmen worked captian telling the fishermen what to do depending on the
The Titanic claimed to be the ship of its time; one that would never sink. However, what the Titanic claimed to be was not the case because on April 15, 1912 the Titanic hit an iceberg, broke in half, and sunk to the bottom of the ocean. There has been debate ever since that fateful day as to how this happened to the Titanic. Some conspiracy theorist believe the ship never even sank -- regardless of the ships remains at the bottom of the ocean. Other conspiracy theorists believe the Titanic was actually switched with the RMS Olympic because of an insurance scam. Ever since that day, many scientists, engineers, and physicists have tried to analyze the problems of the Titanic; the reasons why it sank.
Instead of getting any help from others, the author arranges the crews went ashore by themselves. However, destructive waves made the crews have no choice but to jump off the boat. "Called the captain." Furthermore, it 's hard to imagine that a person would give the chance of surviving to others, but the captain did. "but the captain waved him away and sent him to the correspondent." (Page 214) the captain knew at that time, the correspondent needed the help more than he did. The author described the captain with the high-quality psychological strength which cannot be crushed by any destructive strength and based on the book, his psychological strength did lead the crew members out from the open sea.
One of the spectators noticed a pale pink glow in the lower center of the ship. Everyone began to become intense because they had a feeling that the glow was not suppose to be there. A few seconds later that section of the airship exploded! All the onlookers, of course, backed away rapidly, but were still close as the entire Hindenburg airship, and mostly all of its passengers caught fire.
This film was set in 1970, where the mission launched. What happened in the film was that something went wrong on the ship. These days, I think that people are much more careful and precautions. But since it was in the time period it was in, I don’t think everyone checked and was as careful as we are now. Most of the characters did not look too wealthy. They had television sets that were very small and average sized houses for that time. The characters in the film also dressed differently than we do n...
The enormous sunken ship. Lying down deep in the mists of the dark blue ocean. The Titanic. The wreck-sinking ship has caused great talk as well as remembrance. While some believe and feel the great ship should be explored and well looked through others believe the wreck should be undisturbed. It is imperative that the Titanic be explored because it will give people a chance to see such artifacts, helps give explanations of what happened to the Titanic, and provides information of the people that passed away on this ship wreck.
When the Titanic hit the iceberg it started to fill up with tons of water in the compartments which started to tilt the ship on one side of it. People wonder who or what was responsible for the Titanic disaster. Part of it was the iceberg warnings.
Mary is the next character that is introduced to the reader, and she is a very large part of the story. One day while Mary is at the beach a body washes up on the shore with many cabbages, kettles, and barrels of whiskey. She drags the body to the shore where she lies in the man's arms until he dies. This man was believed to have been from an "other world" and this had a big effect on Mary. She falls in love with this sailor, even though he is dead, and it casts a sort of spell on her. Mary is known to the rest of the village as "away" which means she is enchanted by this other world, the world of the sea. She felt as though her spirit were not in her humanly body anymore, and did not even consider herself Mary anymore. The spirits of the lake had given her a new name, Moira, and that is what she preferred to call herself. The villagers had no hope for, except for Father Quinn.
If someone in your family died on the Titanic you would want to know where the blame lies. After researching this subject I have formed an opinion about what caused all of those deaths. This paper gives the reason for my opinion.
instructions to the crew to start to lower the lifeboat and to put children and women in first. The first few lifeboats were only half filled! And although it has been reported that Smith tried to call back some of the lifeboats to save more people, the crew didn’t listen and kept rowing away from the boat, worried the mass of floating people would pull them under if they went back.
The Titanic has been imortilized by the Hollywood movie by the same name. In that popular film the two lovers, Rose and Jack face the devastating sinking of the ship which results in the death of Jack, left moviegoers heartbroken. The story of the Titanic is indeed tragic but much more nonfictional. The captain of this ship was Edward. J Smith, while the owner was John Pierpont Morgan. The ship’s tragic turn happened on its first sailing, on April 11 as it was traveling from Southampton, England to Cherbourg, France, and Queenstown, Ireland to the destination of New York. The large ship had 2,200 passengers on the ship which later lead to the death of 1500 people. The causes of the ship’s tragic ending is because it had a collision with an
The Titanic was struck by an iceberg. It was being warned by another boat, but the crew was asleep and had turned off the radio which was a bad idea. The two people who were able to warn them were at the top of the boat keeping a watch. They were too close to the ice and causing the boat to skid across the iceberg.
The Titanic was a massive ship that every man dreamed of the ‘unsinkable’ ship left people devastated, killed or injured. The Titanic ended tragically. “On April 10, 1912, the RMS Titanic set sail from Southampton, England, carrying 2,207 passengers en route to New York. Unfortunately, the ship never made it to its final destination” (Titanic
