Martin Luther King Persuasive Speech

“Be a voice, not an echo.” Standing up for what you believe in is you defending others that are not able to or are scared to do it. You give them a purpose to also stand up and join. In history people were afraid to voice out what they believe in until that one brave person inspires them to. Katniss Everdeen rebelled against the Capitol, Martin Luther King Jr. was the voice of the Civil Rights Movement, and a whole variety of people stand up for LGBTQ rights.
Katniss Everdeen does not believe in the Capitol’s annual Hunger Games. She rebels against them numerous times. It is punishable to go to the other side of the fence, but Katniss risks it to hunt for food, since they face food shortages and mistreatments from the leader of the the government. The food shortages serve as a way to control the people in the districts, The Hunger Games are also a way to control the districts, to make them fear them and to not rebelled against them. Katniss volunteers as tribute when her sister is chosen, she would not allow her to join a game where people are to die. In the games, she sings to Rue when

she is dying and covers her in flowers. When she is done she raise up the three middle fingers of her left hand into the camera, Distict 11 starts to rebel against the peacekeepers. Towards the end of the games Katniss along with Peeta would rather die together than let the Capitol have a victor. Every single move that Katniss made inspired some districts to rebel against the Capitol’s exploitation.
Martin Luther King Jr.

is a well know activist in the Civil Rights Movement, he inspired millions in the past, present, and he will in the future. King practiced nonviolent protests that progressed the Civil Rights Movement. He inspired others to do the same. He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Albany Movement, Birmingham campaign, March on Washington, Selma voting rights movement and "Bloody Sunday", Chicago open housing movement, Opposition to the Vietnam War, and Poor People's Campaign. “I Have a Dream,” by King is an inspirational speech that helped the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King Jr. has won a variety of awards, and he has a holiday. If no one stood up for African Americans rights, there will still be a high rate of racism, and segregation. Furthermore, other countries would have not fought for their rights

either.
We have come a long way for LGBTQ Rights. Sure there is still people who don’t support it but this century, this generation are more open minded about it. Celebrities, Youtubers, and comedians have come out as either lesbian, gay, transgender, queer, bisexual, or genderfluid. When their fans who are afraid of coming out see them doing this they get inspired by it. It is terrifying to come out but nowadays it's a bit less scary when you know there are people out there that support you. When Congress passed the law where LGBTQ could get married it was an amazing moment. Even if it’s just a piece of paper, they felt that they were now accepted in society. When the Orlando shooting happened millions of people came to support the LGBTQ community.
We wouldn’t be where we are now if amazing people didn’t stand up for what they believed in. We stand up for those that cannot, we try to make our world a better place every single day. We start out small and slowly it becomes a huge phenomenon. Everywhere someone tries to stand up for what they believe in, in books, movies, tv shows, and in real life.
