Martin Luther King Jr. was a big impact on the world, he stood up for what he believed in. When Martin was young, he and his family went through a lot of discrimination and threats of violence many times throughout the day. Martin did not like the way he and others were treated, he wanted to make a difference, so he became the leader of the Civil Rights Movement to stop segregation. Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero because he wanted equal rights for everyone.

gave his "I have a dream" speech during the March on Washington, for freedom and jobs, and to end racism in the United States. Martins goal of the speech was to influence the government to fully realize the racial equality, and to eliminate racism altogether. Blacks at the time could not use the same bathrooms as whites, or drinking fountains. While at the grocery store, if a black had a question about a product and went up to a white person, they would simply walk away. Blacks could not walk down the street without a white person giving them a dirty look. " I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". Martin cares for the life's of others, wants what will simply be best for them. He wants them to be seen as who they are, not because of the color of their skin. "So we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice". The speech that was given by Martin, he hoped it would reach out to people that the way they were being treated wasn't fair, he hoped they would understand how hard it was for blacks to step outside of their homes. They were sent to jail because they were protesting the treatment of blacks in Birmingham. The court told Martin that he was not allowed to hold protests. Birmingham was a hard place for blacks to live in at the time because of how segregated it was and many threats of violence blacks went through. "I am here because injustice is here". While Martin was in jail, he wrote a letter explaining why he broke the law. "Two days later, the Birmingham agreement is announced. The stores, restaurants, and schools will be desegregated; hiring of blacks implemented; and charges dropped against the protesters". Martin reached his goal, everyone to be equal. Throughout King’s life, he showed everyone how he believed equality should be acquired. With his peaceful protests and amazing speeches, he influenced people both during his time and after he passed. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of his time. He saw that segregation was wrong and decided to do something about it. He endured through hard times, all the while working to better the lives of others. With his help many people began to take a stand against the racial inequality and injustice against African Americans. He made many sacrifices for the people he was fighting for and never stopped until he was shot after a protest. MLK changed many people’s lives by standing up in front of thousands of people to share his “Dream” for America. In my opinion Dr.King has a very interesting background, like his family and never knew his name use to be Michael but now I do. Dr.King went through a lot of problems and struggles in his life. He also had a lot of accomplishments and contributions it was probably hard for him because he was leader of a lot things and a father and a husband. Dr. King was a minister and a civil rights activist who had one dream; he wanted everyone to be treated equally and to have equal rights. He advocated for civil disobedience, which included peaceful and nonviolent demonstrations, and in 1964, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his achievements. Without Martin Luther King’s efforts, a majority people would not have the opportunities that they have today.
Martin Luther King Jr changed the world and how we live as people. He told people what he believed in and people listened to everything he had to say.
