Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?'" (Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.) This says a lot about Mr. King and his character in having an act for helping others for the better. Martin was a social activist, who led the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the mid 1950s till his assassination in 1968. There is a reason that every third Monday in January we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Martin Luther King Jr. is was one of the hardest workers and most dedicated person in Americas history, and he played an important role in making America what it is today.

Marin helped many African Americans fight for their civil right, he enforced non violent protests. One of Martins most famously known was the "bus boycott." March 2, 1955 a fifteen year old Claudette Colvin was arrested for sitting in the white area of the bus. Claudette was arrested, when she was arrested. "Claudette was pregnant and law enforcement looked bad in the eyes of sympathetic whites."(Bus Boycott) Also more famously know the story of Rosa Parks. On December 1, 1995 forty-two year old Rosa took the bus home from work and all the seats in the back were already filled, this is wear African American seats were reserved. There was one seat left in the front, Rosa sat there but along came a white man and Rosa would not move. The police were called and arrested Rosa. The next day Rosa was charged with a $10 guilty fee, and a $4 court fee. The night Parks was arrested E.D. Nixon and Martin were planning a boycott. This led to a 368 day boycott. All African Americans walked to and from work for 382 days, and eventually the law was
