The moment one hears of Asian culture, martial arts may be the first idea to come to
mind. In a general sense, many view martial arts as a sport that involves hurting one another. On

Buddhism, Daoism and Confucianism provide the basis for a majority of eastern religions.
The primary, and much older, contributor to the start of martial arts was the religion of
Buddhism. Branching out of Hinduism, Buddhism stresses the idea of meditation. Buddhist
meditation, though can be used in other branches, is most emphasized in the Chan (Zen)
Buddhist sect. According to legends, the founder of Zen Buddhism was an Indian monk named
Bohdidharma who traveled throughout China. He is also known as Da Mo in China, or Daruma
in Japanese culture (Irons). In his travels, he desired to reach enlightenment through intense
meditation. Zazen, or seated meditation, is a significant practice of the Zen Buddhist belief.
Legends state that, like Siddhartha Gautama, Bohdidharma took extensive amounts of time to
meditate. Within his nine years of meditation, he too suffered physical declines with the
weakening of his legs. It is very iconic to see Bohdidharma sitting down, as daruma dolls in
Japan are used to depict...

The study of Tai Chi Chuan is unique in the sense that it marks the historical event of many centuries of Taoist study known as Chi Kung ("excellence of Energy"). It was primarily dedicated to the physical health and spiritual growth. It was very much needed at the time (about 1,000 A.D.) for monks to defend themselves against bandits and warlords. So at that time came an unusual mixture of healing art/martial art which has been known as the internal practice of Tai Chi Chuan.
Before I get into the history of Taekwondo, I would like to define what it means. I
Martial arts encourage violence. It allows people the opportunity to pick on other people who don’t know the art. It gives the one who knows it an upper hand against everybody else. If the wrong people learn this art we could all be in trouble. They would go around terrorizing everything and body.
Japanese traditional fighting kenayskaya, karate, there are different origins of martial arts. Martial arts are the Japanese traditional fighting style. Martial arts originated as forms of self defense. Martial arts were long established before it became famous as a form of self defense. Martial arts should be established and practiced as self defense and not for any other reason. However, the majority of martial arts today are practicing to win tournaments and sporting events.

As the fighter's face drips with blood, he continues to push forward and engage his opponent. At this point in time, the fighter's body and mind are telling him to give up. Most people give in to this feeling because they do not know what their body can actually do. However, a true athlete knows how to keep on fighting and ignore what his body and mind are ordering. Although there is much bloodshed, mixed martial arts is not a barbaric death match, but a sport because there are many techniques and rules that a fighter must master and follow in order to ensure safety to himself and his opponent.

For those who do not know, I am a mixed martial arts fighter. Mixed martial arts fighting is “a sport allowing a wide range of fighting techniques that include striking, kicking, and grappling.” (www.merriam-webster.com) It is a compilation of forms of different martial arts. Two fighters will face each in the rings (known as the octagon due to its shape) for three to five five-minute rounds. I started taking martial arts classes when I was six years old. I wanted to be a mixed martial arts fighter all my life. I loved the thought of stepping into the octagon and pounding somebody senseless as a sport. My mother and father, at first, did not want me to take the Taekwondo classes because of this fact. It took a lot of begging to finally convince them to let me do it. They realized that it is very important for any child to learn some type of martial arts. It is essential to use for defense. Mixed martial arts are the thing that helped me cope with my rough childhood and mold me into who I am today. Over the past twenty years, the sport of MMA has revolutionized and has become very popular throughout the world. Despite this being said, other people very hesitant about accepting mixed martial arts. The sport of MMA is gradually becoming a safer sport. Even though it is considered a dangerous sport, other sports at proven to be more dangerous.
The early history of judo and that of its founder, Japanese polymath and educator Kano Jigoro (surname first in Japanese) (1860-1938), are inseparable. Kano was born into a well-to-do Japanese family. His grandfather was a self-made man, a sake brewer from Shiga prefecture in central Japan; however, Kano's father was not the eldest son and did not inherit the business, but instead became a Shinto priest and government official, with enough influence for his son to enter the second incoming class of Tokyo Imperial University.
