I am doing my Science Project on the planet Mars.

Mars Surface is rocky, with canyons, volcanoes, dry lake beds, and it also has craters all over it. Mars also is mostly covered with dust that looks kinda like red dust that floats all the way around, on the edge. It also has winds and clouds and other things just like Earth.

During the winter Mars can get as low as -195 degrees fahrenheit { -125 degrees celsius}. On a summer day Mars can get as high as 70 degrees fahrenheit {20 degrees celsius}. At night Mars can get to about -100 degrees fahrenheit { -73 degrees celsius }.

The atmosphere of Mars is about 100 times thinner than Earth’s
atmosphere. Mars is somewhere around 95 percent carbon dioxide. Mars is 95.32 percent carbon dioxide and about 2.7 percent Nitrogen Slide 5, Size and Mass: Mars has a size of 2,106 mi {diameter = 6,787 km} . Mars is the second smallest planet out of all the planets. The Mass of Mars is 6.39 x 0.107 meters. Slide 6, Distance from the Sun: The distance from Mars to the sun is 141.6 million miles. Mars is the 4th planet from the sun. Witch makes Mars a warm planet since it is not very far away from the sun. The farthest planet away from the sun is Neptune. Slide 7, Orbital period: It takes 687 days for Mars to get around the sun. That is 322 more days than it takes for earth to travel around the sun and end up right back where Mars started. Slide 8, Moons: Mars has 2 moons, these moons are Phobos and Deimos. It takes Phobos and Deimos, 7 hours and 39 minutes to travel all the way around Mars. There has been 40 missions to Mars, in September 2014 , but only 18 of those missions were successful missions. Slide 9, 10 Facts about Mars: Mars got its name from the Roman god of the war. Mars is also often described as the “ Red Planet ” due to its red like appearance. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere composed primarily of Carbon Dioxide. There is also a candy bar named after planet Mars. Mars has some of the largest dust storms in our solar system. Some of Mars pieces of its surface have fallen onto planet Earth. Some scientist think that one day Mars will have a ring just like Saturn. Scientist say that there is some liquid water on Mars, but not a tons. Mars is home to the tallest Mountains in the solar systems. When you are on Mars and you are looking at the sun it looks half the size than when your on Earth.
Tracy K. Smith’s “Life on Mars” is a collection of poetry dealing mainly in the search for a sense of purpose and the nature of people. The books is something of an elegy as a whole with many poems pertaining to death and the author’s struggle with the loss of her father. The poems are at once poignant and gentle in tone and leave questions than can only be answered in multiple readings. The book is segmented in four parts that travel through different topics and types of poetry. The mood ranges from passionate accounts of Orwellian politics to soft recollections of a lovers embrace; throughout the book Smith brings in references to pop culture, science, and technology that incorporate seamlessly with her words.

H. G. Wells wrote in his book, "War of the Worlds", about Martian invasion toward earth. He mentioned, "No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinized and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as man with a microscope might scrutinize the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water."
Based on both Mars and Earth having had very similar geology, I feel that these two planets did in fact mirror each other as defined earlier. They both share having had a magnetic field, a thick rich life supporting atmosphere, volcanoes, plate tectonics, liquid water and share similar interiors. The planets orbits are within the habitable zone and also conditions post Mars forming would have allowed it to have been an early Earth. Have you ever looked up in the sky and wondered if there is life elsewhere in the universe? Have you ever looked at a photograph of Mars and wondered if there really was ever life on it? People have a wide variety of opinions regarding these questions and with good reason. As far back as the broadcast of H. G. Well's novel, "The War of the Worlds", the world has been fascinated with the possibilities of what Mars may hold. Over time, the majority of people have come to realize that there is no way that life can currently be on Mars. Those who are uncertain think there may be microscopic bacteria underground.

He had a rebreather mask on and looked quite sinister with that large top hat. But he was still puny compared to Terl at ten feet tall. Terl had to restrain his claws not to crush the Lord in one swipe of his paw. But the Lord held his bank account, his gold, and had offered something no one else could. Immortality. Terl certainly wanted to live forever and he knew that this Lord Rothschild was as old as some of the newer planets being formed in the galaxies around Psychlo. He had been there before even his own father and almost all of this new generation had known of the mysterious Lord Rothschild, financial treasurer of the Universes.
Mars, the beautiful red planet, is the most similar planet to earth. The terrain in general is very close to what we are used to on earth, minus the vegetation. Earth and Mars both contain polar ice caps. Mars also has water throughout the planet, but it is mostly subsoil.
Scientists continue on the journey to Mars as NASA plans to send people deeper into space than ever before. Therefore, they would like to send people to Mars and the surface of asteroids. Before that is accomplished, NASA will analyze an asteroid to learn about the risks that may pose to future humans. The most powerful rocket yet, is scheduled to launch in 2018. Information from this rocket will enhance NASA’s understanding of asteroids.

Mars is the next closest planet to the sun after Mercury, Venus, and Earth. It is believed that at one point, Mars may have been very Earth like. Great floods changed the surface and left similar features that we see on earth today, massive ancient flood plains and valleys cover the face of Mars. But now, the atmosphere of Mars is too thin, and too cold for water to last on the surface. What water there once was has receded to the ice caps at the north and South Pole. But the amount of ice is nowhere near to what it should be if all the water on the planet froze. Maybe the water all evaporated into the atmosphere, leaving behind the dry rocky surface we see now. But then why is the atmosphere of Mars so thin? Perhaps all the water soaked into the ground and remains disperses in the soil deep underground.
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun, and has received many names in history due to its characteristics and features. Mars was known by its red color due to the iron-rich minerals inside it, developing a red surface as we know today. The ancient Romans and Greeks named the planet after their god of war, due to the red surface, symbolizing blood. However, the Egyptians named it "the red one" and the Chinese named it "the fire star". Mars was first discovered in approximately 400BC by the Babylonians, and they named it "the star of death". Back in that time, Mars was visible by the eye, simply seen as a red "dot" in the sky, and some thought it was possibly a moving star. Mars has a very interesting geology that can tell anyone a lot about the planet. The red planet has a variety of surface features that give much information about its history. In Aphra Behn's “The Rover,” characters define relationships as a type of economy where value and use are key. This time period commodified love and sexuality, valuing financial success over meaningful relationships. The dowry system made rich women with a high status most desirable for marriage and their value was increased by their honor. Typical of seventeenth century literature, Behn plays with this ideology as “the language of love in Restoration comedies frequently draws on the language of commerce.”1 She expresses her beliefs on the “'interest,' 'credit,' and 'value'”2 associated with love and sexuality through the different prices placed on her characters. Where Behn differs from other seventeenth century writers is that she does not give in to the “world dominated by male writers working in specifically misogynistic forms.”3 She gives women the authority within this economy. Instead of having very little power in their relationships with men, Behn allows women to be dominant. They can create their own value and control the amount of access men have to them. Characters such as Moretta and Angellica Bianca are not forced into submission by their desire for marriage, they “ignore[s] patriarchal structure and exhibit[s] no remorse.”4 They force men into submission through their manipulation of the economy of love and sexuality. Aphra Behn's characterization of Moretta and Angellica Bianca using the language of commerce gives them authority that other woman did not have access to.
There are many similarities and differences between Saturn and Mars.We can use a difference to start with. The gravitational force on both planets is very different. To compare the forces, I will use the gravitational force on Earth as the example, since both of the factors are compared to Earth. Mars has a gravitational force that is .38 of Earth’s so If you were 100 pounds on Earth you would be 38 pounds on Mars, but on Saturn you would be 106.4 because it is 1.064… times Earth’s gravitational force, the difference lies in the numbers since the difference is very large. Another example of a difference between the two planets is the geological features. Though Saturn does have mountains, they are found in the inner core while Mars possesses
Venus and Mars' atmospheres have both been found to have traces of nitrogen. Though the nitrogen in each of the atmospheres varies from 2.7% to 3.5% the substance is nonetheless present. The theories of how nitrogen enters the atmosphere differ for the two planets. The generation of nitrogen on Mars is believed to be caused by outgassing from the planets local volcanoes. While the generation of nitrogen on Venus is believed to be from the lack of a magnetic field around the planet’s atmosphere.
