Everyone has a role model or someone that they look up to who influences them. “No matter how many losses you take, get back up and face your fears over and over because after a while you’ll start to realize that they were never holding you back at all.” In this quote by Mark Fischbach, whom is more commonly known as Markiplier, a popular video game “let’s player” and commentator, he supports the theme of never giving up on yourself or your dreams because of temporary roadblocks. This quote is only one of many from popular YouTube funnyman that are immensely inspirational for his fans old and young alike. Myself being one of those fans. Markiplier has influenced me in many ways throughout the years that I’ve been subscribed to him, but my main focus for this essay will be most importantly that he taught me (and many others) to take chances, believe in myself, and to not ever give up no matter how hopeless a situation may seem. Markiplier, a combination of his first name (Mark) and the word …show more content…
“multiplier”, first caught my attention in early 2013. He sets himself apart from all the rest to the point where I could tell just by watching a few of his videos that he values his fans above all and he shows this in his frequent “Thank You” sessions where he vlogs just to tell his fans how much they mean to him and that he would never be where he is today without those that have been with him every step of the way and continue to be there to support him, his channel, and his channel’s content. A main focus of his when he makes his “Thank You” segments is always reiterating the idea that it is okay to take chances on things that you really want in life even when people tell you that you’re going to fail. Instead just use their negativity to fuel you to your goals even if it’s just to show them what you’re capable of in the end, but never let them convince you that they’re right. This is supported in another quote by Mark where he says, “People will tell you that you can’t, for as long as you are trying to do something, and they are wrong. But nothing could be more wrong than actually believing them.” Believing in yourself is a bit of an overused cliché of a concept, but even so I have to use it here. It may seem that believing in yourself is the main idea overall in Markiplier’s quotes and that’s because it is. This next one for example: “Whatever you do, be it small, big, have a goal and believe in yourself.” That is because this is so important to the change. Because by not believing in yourself then you give everyone else no reason to. It all starts with you, and Mark helped to teach me that. I apply it in many ways in my daily life. One example of this would be when I play Minecraft. Since I am a female player it is automatically assumed that I’m not very good. But I don’t let this get to me. The smug remarks thrown my way by the people (usually males) that think I can’t win a game to save my life are easily dismissed those days when I can clear an entire game of players. I guess that’s why I’m on the player list for Top Stats and also a girl at the same time. I am confident that this is due to the fact that despite the lack of support by my gaming peers I can still carry my own because I believe in myself and I know my own strengths and weaknesses. The third thing, but far from the last, that I’ve learned from Mark would be to never give up. Again my personal example applies here. It took me a long time to get to the position on the leaderboard that I have currently, and there have been many times that I wanted to give up and that I wanted to believe that they were right and a girl like me could never make it to a high rank, but I didn’t. I didn’t give up because I knew that would be going against everything my role model stood for. So, I didn’t give up. I kept playing and I took my wins as well as my losses, and now my stats are something I show pride in and I hope to continue improving my statistics on the server just too see how far I can go and if the possibility of being the very best is within reach. While my example may not have been the most seriously taken example I could’ve used I felt it relevant to use an example that correlates in Markiplier’s line of work and entertainment.
Video games are much more than just a way to pass time. It is an opportunity to experience new people and social environments, find out interests and skill sets, and to also, in an extreme case, find a career like Markiplier has done. In short I just wanted to say that I wouldn’t be where I am with my goals today if it weren’t for Markiplier’s ability to make his fans see his support of their dreams and the highlight of the most important things in reaching your goals of which include taking chances, believing in yourself, and never giving up. In the words of Mark, “never give up, no matter what may set you back, and know that at the end of the road, you’re going to have something that you can be proud of.” Don’t stop until you’re where you want to be, and even then just keep moving
forward.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”
At some point in life most people have allowed at least one challenge to defeat them, if not more. Then there are those people who view these challenges as simply that, a challenge. This was the theme throughout Kyle Maynard’s novel, No Excuses, I learned that it is how we go about conquering these challenges that defines us as people. Throughout his novel he notes things will not always come easily; therefore, it is up to us to dig deep and conquer our goals. By finding alternate routes and adjusting your mindset, we are able to achieve any goal we set our minds to. Because it is not the obstacle that holds us back but it is ourselves that keeps us from fulfilling our greatest
Analyzing that phrase you can assume that those individuals who have mastered in what they specify , whether its sports or academically related , have made many mistakes along the way. You should not be afraid of failure , as it helps one learn from past mistakes. Being able to recover from failure shows how dedicated

What inspired me the most from Mawi’s experience was if you work hard and don’t give up good thing’s will come and happen to you. You will always lose 81-10 if you don't push your turbo button. You won't get anywhere if you don't push that button you will always lose and never win. To just give up isn't the way to go you will have hard times in your life you just have to fight through it and push yourself.
It’s the triumphs as well as the defeats, that I will remember most about my life when I look back in thirty years. If I can look back and say, “I didn’t think I could ever accomplish this, but I gave it my all.” Pursuing the next challenge along with being a well-rounded, compassionate person will allow me to consider my life a success in thirty years. Nothing in my life emulates this attitude towards what I will consider a success, in terms of pushing my limits, in thirty years, than my current pursuit of collegiate level sports.
...n but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.” [Lee, 1960, p. 149]
Remember the days when life was easy and our biggest worry was what mum had packed us for lunch, or whether we would get up early enough to catch the morning cartoons? No? Or have those days been drowned out by the endless nagging of parents to study and get a good job…Now don’t get me wrong-I know education is important, but sometimes I feel we have too much pressure placed on us to live a ‘perfect life’ that when one mistake comes along, everyone, including ourselves, ends up upside down. Instead, as presented in the novel ‘Maestro’, by Peter Goldsworthy, we find the importance of not losing ourselves, but rather, taking these adversaries as opportunities. . I don’t know about you but I plan on living a life with no regrets-
Well, since I was a little boy, I have always loved video games. There was something about it that made me feel great. While I didn’t know what it was back then, I believe I have an answer now. It’s about the journey, the adventure of playing a video game. When you pick up a controller or log on to a PC game, you are entering a world of vast possibilities and endless adventures. I’ve had so much fun jumping into the world of a video game. The experience of doing so is unlike anything else. I also play video games for the connection that I get when playing with others. Whether it’s with friends or complete strangers, it can be a lot of fun to interact with others in a virtual world, competing or cooperating with them. It’s also about that first time experience playing a video game. It’s unlike anything else I have ever done in my life. Let’s take Destiny again for example. Destiny’s raids, the quests that I mentioned earlier, not only require a tremendous amount of teamwork and patience but also require a fair amount of skill, as these activities are some of the most difficult activities a player can attempt. Allow me to clarify even more. In Destiny’s raids, there is a boss battle at the end, a final showdown that will prove that our team can conquer anything. They also boast a ton of great loot to obtain at the end. So when our team has been attempting a boss encounter for hours to no avail, it
There are several negative stereotypes associated with video games and those who play them; some of these may often hold true. However, there are plenty of learning opportunities in video games. While the direct purpose of some games is to educate or train, other games that do not directly have this purpose can still become a learning experience for the player. As Ntiedo Etuk, president of the educational video game company Tabula Digital said, “The traditional view of video games has been that they are distractions from the task of learning” (Electronic Education Report 1). Video games are an effective tool for learning and retaining skills both inside and outside the classroom environment. The basic cycle of game play--the introduction to the game, game play, collaboration, improvement of these between each round, and evaluation at the end of the game (Klievink and Janssen 159)--are nearly parallel to the traditional classroom learning cycle of reading a textbook or listening to a lecture, taking a quiz, studying, focusing on items missed on the quiz, and taking a test or exam. Within this cycle, there are many opportunities to develop and perfect both educational, life, and occupational skills.
Presently, video games aren’t merely toys that negatively influence the youth. They have become an alternative means for people to learn and train for work. Games teach values and essential information, and motivate its players to achieve goals. Soldiers and doctors benefit from video games as well. The collaboration of game developers and educators helps improve the quality of educational games. At present, as technology progresses, one can truly see that video games have become an important factor in learning.
I have experienced some negative effects of games like a decrease in academics, but I still manage to get A’s and B’s in my classes because I learned how to prioritize days for me to study for exams instead of playing games. Academics argue that games can be beneficial in other domains of Personal Well-being besides mere enjoyment. Games should be studied for how and when they provide immediate psychological satisfactions. In addition, only moderate play supports Personal Well-Being. There is a typical example of excessive gaming is when the player claims that certain game has affected him by saying “this game fucked up a year of my life.” (Greet et.al.10). I have felt that I experienced video games addiction because I only played games day in day out during my junior year in high school, which a lot thing falls apart around me like my grades and my social life, but during summer I realized that had to find a balance of what’s important to me. Even though my experience with the negative effects of games I find that the positive effects still outweigh
This was the lesson I learnt from my father, an unceasing learner and a person who would never give up no matter how many and how difficult the obstacles may be. Having understood from him that success is a moving target, the years of my life with my family have inculcated in me a desire to achieve perfection.
Failure is something in life that everyone is afraid of. Failure is apart of everyone’s life at some point whether it’s in a sport, at school, or even just a part of daily life. Failure can be in taken in two ways, one; you can take the failure in as a challenge and push to strive better and never want to fail again, or two; take failure in bad and not want to try harder and just give up without after failing once. Some of the richest or even successful people in life have had failures. The famous basketball player Michael Jordan, when he was a sophomore he tried out for the varsity basketball team and didn’t make it. But if it wasn’t for that failure in his life he would of have never tried his hardest to end up becoming one of the best NBA players in history and have one of the most successful shoe brands. That’s just one of the many successful people who had failures in life.
