Mark Cuban is an entrepreneur and a business man born on July 31, 1958, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Indiana University in 1981 with a degree in business. He started selling garbage bags by the age of 12 to purchase a pair of expensive shoes and personal desires. When he was young, he worked in different jobs to pay for his college tuition. Since then he has strived and succeeded in many of the businesses he is engaged on. As an example, when he purchased the basketball team, the Dallas Maverick in 2000, he transformed the team almost immediately and presented a new and more dynamic way of doing business. In others words, he has demonstrated charm and charisma during the Mavericks games and in other television programs he has appeared, which has, in turn, attracted more people to the games and therefore make more money. In addition, his personality and many experiences in his personal and professional life has transformed the game and the players, in a way that has let them to win more games per season and a championship. Mark portraits a type “A” personality which is shown in his competitiveness, hard drive, and focus for winning in every business he is engaged in.
For example, he is engaged in different businesses at the same time such as high definition TV market, reality TV series, and TV show Shark Tank among others. This model shows statistical data related to personalities traits that suggest five broad dimensions used to describe behaviors and personalities. Based on the behavior displayed by Mark, it is evident that he shows a more conscientiousness personality. People who are conscientiousness tend to be more efficient and productive, well-organized individuals, and hard working. Moreover, Mark is dependable and persistent in making ideas turn into
reality. Most sports fans feel connected and represented by a team every time that team plays. That is one of the reasons they called themselves fans, because they live and enjoy every second of a game. I believe Cuban has displayed a positive image with his eccentric behavior because his behavior is telling those who are watching that he is another fan. Also, he feels represented by the team like many fans feel. His behavior projects an engagement to the audience to come to the games and be part of something special. I think that his actions besides being an eccentric behavior are more like an advertisement strategy to attract everyone to the games. Mark’s disagreements with the NBA has brought a lot of negative publicity to the team and himself. On the other hand, he has turned those negative publicity into a positive situation by matching the amount fined into donations for different charities. He likes to help individuals less fortunate in life and tries to make a difference with donations. I would recommend Mark to keep helping people in need especially vulnerable ones, such as kids with preexisting conditions. On the contrary, I would recommend him to change some of his eccentric and sometimes irrational behavior, for a more formal and enjoyable attitude. Moreover, I would recommend him not to insult the players of the other teams since this behavior portrays a negative image of him. How people behave says a lot about the person and about their actions and beliefs, thus it is essential to demonstrate, besides joy and excitement, respect and compassion for others. Changing ourselves is the best alternative for resolving human relation problems since we cannot change the other person. We have to be mindful that the only thing we have control over is our own behavior, which means we need to have self-control and be wise to determine why other people behave the way they do. I would suggest Mark that in order to keep improving his businesses to use the Total Quality Management (TQM) approach in which all members of the organization participate in improving processes, products, services and the culture of the organization. The goal of improving areas of the organization in (TQM) should include a strong customer focused orientation, along with total employee involvement, integrated system, strategic and systematic approach, and through communications. I would like to work for Mark because he is a team player, has charisma and likes to create a productive and challenging, but at the same time, a fun environment to work. Moreover, he is passionate about the work he does and that passion is passed to all of the people around him. Last but not least, he is always creating or thinking of new ideas on how to improve the business and by me being part of his team I can learn and benefit for future personal career development. To conclude, I would recommend every student and young person to strive to achieve their dreams and regardless of what others said or think about them, be the best you can be through studying hard, working hard, having self-discipline, by doing research on careers and opportunities and by being persistent and never giving up. If thoughts of discourage appears remember how Mark Cuban and other successful entrepreneurs made it to the top by trying hard.

He has invested in many companies and is a part of the investors in the show “Shark Tank.” He owns Landmark Theatres and Magnolia Pictures along with business partners. A model developed for using factor analysis to try to determine the key traits in human personality. Although trait theories were well established by the 1960s, there was no consensus concerning the number or nature of the traits that make up personality. Since then, further research has confirmed a basic five factor model of personality or ‘Big Five’ (Tomas 2007). This five factor structure has been replicated by Norma (1963), Borgatta (1964) and Digman and Takemoto-Chock (1981) in list derived from Cattle’s 35 variables (Lawrence &Oliver 2000).

Being a huge basketball fan, I always saw Mark on television, passionately screaming on the sidelines at games of the NBA team he owns, the Dallas Mavericks. A person’s personality has been the subject of psychological scrutiny for many years. Psychologists have drawn up several theories in an attempt to accurately predict and determine one’s personality. Foremost amongst these, is the “Big Five Trait Theory” which stemmed from Raymond B. Cattell’s theory.
Trait Theories of Personality are described as the theories that endeavor to describe the characteristics that make up human personality in an effort to predict future behavior. Trait in itself is described as a consistent enduring way of thinking, feeling, or behaving. The Big Five Model is a model of personality traits that describes five basic trait dimensions: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. Openness is defined as the willingness to try new things and be open to new experiences. Conscientiousness is described as the care a person gives to organization and thoughtfulness of others and dependability. Extraversion is the dimension of personality referring to one’s need to be with other people. Agreeableness is conveyed as the emotional style of a person that may range from easygoing, friendly, and likeable to grumpy, crabby, and unpleasant. Finally, neuroticism is the degree of emotional instability or stability.
Personality trait is one’s characteristic pattern of thinking, feeling, and acting across situations and over time. One can self-evaluate these traits by taking the Big Five Inventory (BFI) personality test. The BFI personality test uses the factor analysis to sum up the personality traits and classifies them into five different categories i.e Big Five (openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism). In the following paper I will explore my personality using BFI test scores. Also, I will discuss my predictions of the percentile ranking of my personality test score with respect to other male Luther College students in comparison to my percentile ranking given by my score on the survey.
The five-factor model includes five broad domains or dimensions of personality that are used to describe human personality. The five factors are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. While these five traits should be sufficient on their own to describe all facets of a personality, there also should be no correlation between the main factors. The Five Factor Model is now perhaps the most widely use trait theory of personality and has achieved the closest thing to a consensus in personality research. The advantage of this theory is that there have been multiple research studies conducted on this theory. Results suggest that this theory is effective in describing and determining personality. However, this theory is very categorical and does not allow for much flexibility. It also looks at the person personality at that time and now how it developed.
The second major theory is called the trait or five-factor model. Often referred to as the "Big 5". The five personality traits described by the theory are extraversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness and neuroticism. Beneath each proposed global factor, a number of correlated and more specific primary factors are claimed. One strength of the trait perspectives is their ability to categorize observable behaviors. In other words, observing the behaviors of an individual over time and in varying circumstances provides evidence for the personality traits categorized in trait theories. The Five-Factor Model of Personality test gives the test subject a series of situational options. Using the subject’s responses, psychologist match the answers to the personality in which best relates. A highly accurate description of ones’ personality can be easily configured by using the Five-Factor Model of Personality by testing either high or low in the following areas; openness to experience, extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism.
