Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban is the owner of many multi-million dollar companies, has a net worth of over 1.3 billion dollars, is a star on a popular tv show known as Shark Tank for 7 seasons, and has a large role in many charities(Barker,2001).

Mark Cuban had many failures,successes and important things happen to him up to this day. Three of the most influential events in his life were BroadCast.com(Mark cuban outsmarts overdraft fees with dave.com,2017), when Cuban bought the Dallas Mavericks, and what is the most influential event in Cuban’s life, being on Shark Tank(Flanagan,2017). Cubans first major start up was BroadCast.com(Mark cuban outsmarts overdraft fees with dave.com,2017). He owned this company for a total of 6 years until he sold

it to Yahoo for a grand total of 5.6 billion dollars(Mark cuban outsmarts overdraft fees with dave.com,2017). His second event that happened to Cuban was when he bought the Dallas Mavericks. After Cuban bought the Mavs, he helped them turn around their losing streak(Barker,2001). The next big event in Cuban’s life was when he went on Shark Tank as a guest star during their second season(Flanagan,2017). He was originally just going to be on the show for one season to raise the show rating but, he quickly became a fan favorite. Since, he has been an actor on the show for 7 seasons with no signs of stopping soon. His being on Shark Tank has helped many people achieve their dreams of being a successful entrepreneur(Flanagan,2017). He has helped them by being their sponsor, in turn, they gave him a part of their company, also known as equity.

Cubans many sussess have been new in many ways, his first company, BroadCast.com, was one of the first websites that could play a person live audio from a sports game. Later on whilst Cuban still owned the company, he added live video feed(Mark cuban outsmarts overdraft fees with dave.com,2017). This was the first time that a person could watch and listen to a sport game live without going to said game. His second largest event that most sports fans know him as,the owner of the Dallas Mavs(Barker,2001). The Mavs went from not even getting to the playoffs for twelve straight years to winning 5 out of the past 6 championships after Cuban bought them(Barker,2001). To be able to turn a team around like Cuban did, he had to spend a lot of money out of pocket. He spent many millions of dollars on premium Hotels, plane rides, and food. The thing about his ability to turn the team around that amazed people the most was that he had never been in the sports industry before. His third and most well known thing that Cuban has done, being one of the main Sharks on a show called Shark Tank(Flanagan,2017). Shark Tank, for those who do not know, is a popular Television Show the focuses on small business owners presenting their business to the Sharks, large entrepreneurs with many multi-million dollar companies. When they present their companies to the Sharks, the Sharks decide if they think the company will be something people would enjoy and become the Presenters sponsors. If the Sharks accept the person’s offer, they will give people the money that they need to start up their company, in turn, they will give the Sharks a part of their company company. Cuban was originally going to be a guest star for one season, season 2, but fans quickly fell in love with him on the show and he decided to stay.

With Cubans, many startups, successes, fails, and dreams, he has changed the way many people view certain things.

Take an example, his first major company, BroadCast.com, he started it with only his childhood knowledge of entrepreneurship and some friends who could work a computer(Mark cuban outsmarts overdraft fees with dave.com.,2017). His little garage company with 3 friends turned into what some would say the turning point of his life. When others saw how he had made it with a small garage company, they wanted to try as well. When Cuban bought the Dallas Mavericks, he changed the way people viewed basketball(Barker,2001). The small fan base that actually said they supported the Mavs went from 0 to 100(Barker,2001). The players themselves gained so much confidence when they started to be treated well by their manger they were able to win more championships in 6 years than they had in the past 20. When Cuban went on Shark Tank, he opened up people’s eyes even more(Flanagan,2017). They realized that that was their chance to make something out of their dying company. That show could turn their company that was barely making any profit at all to being multi-million dollar companies that others envied. Cuban helped so many people in starting their dreams that he could complete his own dream, helping others with his knowledge and skill in

entrepreneurship.
