As the television show begins it flashes between two scenes, Detective Rollins being at an AA meeting and her coworkers at Detective Benson’s home celebrating her promotion. I did not know what to expect out of this episode because of how it began. I have always been a huge fan of crime television shows, but Law & Order is one of my favourites. My favourite character is Mariska Hargitay who plays Detective Benson. She always finds out the truth in every case and does not cut the criminals any slack. In this episode, Detective Rollins is being used by one of the members of her AA meeting group named Lena. Lena accused another member in the meeting of rape. Giving Rollins history Lena knew she would be sympathetic towards her accusations.
When she was falsely accused in her case, the FBI thought she was the one who started it all. The FBI didn’t look at all of the evidence that was found at the crime or what she had said. They falsely accused her of the crime because they thought she was the one that robbed the bank and did extortion. There were gaps in her statement, and she couldn’t think straight. She was saying random words because she was so terrified of what happened to her. The SLA brainwashed her, and she didn’t know anything after they were done with her. She didn’t even know what day it was, so she does not know what happened in her case.

The Power of an Author Authors have the ability justify the worst actions. Authors have a way of romanticizing certain situations in order to convey a specific message. A good author has power to influence the reader into believing whatever it is the author wants. When it comes to the story of Hannah Dustan, authors such as John Greenleaf Whittier have romanticized her captivity story along with the actions she took throughout her journey. Jeannette is a major character and protagonist. She is a round, dynamic character, and the memoir focuses on her development and maturity. Due to her forgiving nature, she is Rex Wall's favorite daughter. Despite her father's destructive nature, she chooses to be optimistic and positive. Through her early childhood she chooses to ignore her father's drunken episodes, and thinks of him as a loving father and an excellent teacher of the wild. As you grow older, this repetitive question becomes annoying because it forces you to confront and decide what exactly you want to do when you have been through adolescence. In literature, a dynamic character changes significantly as a result of events, conflicts, or other forces. In the play, The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Mary Warren, the young servant of the Proctor’s is a dynamic character. Throughout the play, Mary’s personality takes a turn for the better. At the beginning of the play, Mary is shy, timid girl who hides in the shadows of Abigail Williams and lets people walk all over her. As the play develops, Mary realizes that what Abigail is doing isn’t right and rebels against Abby. Instead of following Abby, she follows in the footsteps of John Proctor to bring justice to the girl’s accusing innocent people of witchcraft.
In the episode, the writers purposely used Zoe Ravis, the not so nice and very flirtatious character, as Jane to show that past behaviors shouldn’t make the rape situation any less significant. Zoe attends a party where she gets wasted and ends up being dropped off, alone, to a separate area of the party. Her rapists were two stars of the Degrassi’s basketball team and also her fellow classmates. The two men assaulted Zoe while she was intoxicated and filmed everything. Just like the Steubenville case, the video gets circulated around the entire school. During the rape scene, Zoe was shown as conscious yet you could still tell that she was very drunk. Not knowing her past one would think she seemed rebellious to certain victims after being a product of rape. Benson appears on set every day with an open mind and clear head of dead weight and focuses on fighting crime and keeping bad people off the streets. Her victims believe in her more as a person. Benson is not honored just because she a detective. Having life experiences can mean a lot to a rape victim who is afraid of her attacker. Or an alcoholic father that never really cared about nothing but drinking. All of these victims are supportive of detective Olivia because she understands and provides them with a security blanket of trust and satisfaction that Benson will always try her best to keep criminals off the
In the book Picking Cotton Jennifer Thompson was raped, in 1984, by an African American male that broke into her home. While being attacked Thompson made a conscious effort to remember her assailants facial features. If she was able to survive this horrific event she was determined to assist law enforcement to catch the man that was attacking her. Thompson was able to escape her assailant and report the event to law enforcement. She was put into contact with Detective Gauldin and over the course of several days tips started to come into the department, one of them was about Ronald Cotton.
