When someone speaks of Marilyn Monroe most people think she was nothing other than a woman who slept her way to the top. Of course she had her faults, but there are a variety of traits to describe her rather than just her sexual appeal. Marilyn was an iconic model, singer and actress who passed away too soon from unknown causes. She became a popular, enthusiastic actress and her films produced over 200 million dollars. Although, many people seen her as scandalous, she was more than that, she faced many troubling situations before her rise to the top only to be defeated by a sudden death. She was always on movie sets and had several on and off relationships which led to high stress levels. Her Doctor decided to prescribe barbiturates (sleeping pills). She then had a bad habit of mixing alcohol with her sleeping pills which caused a different effect on her. She threatened her life on two different occasions, one time she attempted to throw herself out of her bedroom window, and the other was when she supposedly over dosed on her sleeping pills. On August 5, 1962 Marilyn was found dead under suspicious circumstances, which led to several conspiracy theories to surface. It was normal for Monroe to take sleeping pills, but not normal to have them sitting by her bed empty with many other different types of medication. Taking too many sleeping can depress someone's breathing while that person is trying to sleeping making if difficult to breath. An article released by Columbia College stated, “With the high levels of barbiturates in her system as a clear cause of death, the presence of the coordinating medication bottles in her room, as well as the absence of any clear signs of foul play on the body, pointed to the conclusion of suicide” (Mallia). They know what she died from and no one was in her room with her when she died. She was found in her bed with all of the different medications and bottles next to her bed indicated that someone else was not who killed her.
