Am I a bad feminist?
In every paperwork, there is always an intention, whether it is a hidden intention or a more direct intention. There are various of ways to lease the intention for the receiver, some authors tend to do it through the language, while others address the intention more directly. That is exactly what Margaret Atwood, who is an author with more than 40 books of poetry and essays, does in her paper opinion. She briefly gives her point of view, and thoughts of her being accused of being a so called “bad feminist” while explaining, some of the different reasons behind it.
Margaret Atwood states a lot of different points in the texts, some are very obvious, while others are trickier to understand. Margaret Atwood has been accused of being a bad feminist for raising her voice against all the different feminist standards. Roxane Gay describes the life of being a feminist, who is obligated to follow a bunch of different rules there happens to be when being a woman. In an article by Amanda Duberman, “Roxane Gay explains what it means to be a bad feminist” presented by HuffPost, the 29th of august 2014 https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/29/roxane-gay-bad-feminist_n_5737268.html Roxane Gay gives an interview on her views, of her being a bad feminist. “I think there are a lot of rules for women. We have a lot of expectations and a lot of rules for women. So we’re expected to march in a straight line and when we don’t, all hell breaks loose” (e.g. Page 1, 17-18) This quote can be put direct relation to the overall intention, and all the different statements Margaret Atwood states in her paper.
