Marco Rubio: GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio wants to overturn the 2015 Supreme Court decision about legalizing same-sex marriage. In an interview on NBC, candidate Rubio said that any future Supreme Court can change it,’ referring the same-sex verdict. Thus, Rubio identifies himself with traditional family values. He believes that family is fundamental for the stability of American society. Thus, one of is policy is to create a new $2,500 per child tax credit. The whole purpose of this policy is to provide an incentive to sustain strong traditional families. The best theoretical perspective for Marco Rubio is structural functionalism. We need families for the survival of the American society; they

In my opinion, Trump has traditional values. However, he has a mixed record. He supports the idea that the federal law “should protect people from discrimination based on sexual orientation” (HRC). Thus, like Rubio, the best theoretical perspective that appeals to Trump is structural functionalism.
Ben Carson: If Ben Carson would have been elected president, LGBT would of have suffer. Carson is against LGBT equality. He identifies himself with traditional values. For him, being LGBT is a choice. Thus, the best theoretical perspective for Carson is structural functionalism. Since he supports traditional values, women are expected to take care of house and men of the money. In the issue about abortion, he supports the pro-life side. This means that women do not have the right to decide what to do with their bodies.
John Kasich: John Kasich has opposed LGBT, as well. Even though he voted for “the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA),” he signed an executive order prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation. However, this is only for state employees. In addition, he voted “to ban funds for domestic partnership programs and opposed health coverage for domestic partners” (HRC). As we know about domestic problems, women are most likely to be affected. This means women have fewer resources for them to seek
Functionalism views society as the stability and assimilation of a range of forces that function within it. While society is a separate entity with a life of its own, there are individual elements contributing to that stability. Functionalism as a sociological theory emphasizes assimilation rather than the dissociation of society. Therefore, the society is seen as a whole that is compromised of parts which give one another their identity and their function. The part, whether that is education, such as a school, or sports, such as a football team, operates in relation to the other parts, and cannot be entirely understood in isolation from the other parts. All the parts are interrelated, and when there is a disturbance in any one of the parts, is when you can see the interdependence. But what is important about this theory is that “there will always be some reorganization and tendency to restore equilibrium” (Wallace and Wolf 17). Functionalist do not believe it’s crucial that the people involved in the society to be aware of this interconnectedness anymore than the brain and heart consciously realize that they work together as an organism.
He continues to support the main claim by showing his knowledge of married couples’ legal rights. He explains that homosexual couples that are not allowed to marry are denied tax breaks, group insurance, and pension programs (Stoddard, 1988, p. 551). These are important grounds,...
A family is a group of people consisting of the parents and their children who live together and they are blood related. The family is always perceived as the basic social units whether they are living together in the same compound or at far distance but are closely related especially by blood. Therefore, the family unit has had a great influence on the growth and the character traits possessed by the children as they grow up and how they perceive the society they live in. the family also shapes the children to be able to relate well with other people that are not part of their family and with a good relationship it impacts to the peace achieved in country. This paper addresses the reasons as to why the family is considered the most important agent of socialization. It’s evident that families have changed over time and they have adopted different ways of living. This paper also tackles on the causes of the dramatic changes to the American family and what the changes are. Different people with different race, gender and preferences make the family unit and this makes the difference in marriages. This will also be discussed in this paper.

Throughout history we have seen that family values have been one of the most important aspects of societies around the world. Although these values may be different from one another, we can see that it is a ma...
The woman was raised to be a great spouse, to play maternal acts, to be able to care for her spouse, to be devoted, to be proper, and to assist him with money and watch over her kids and care for the home through selling, retailing, and planting. The female was made to be industrious from her dad 's home so it would be beneficial in her spouse 's home (Oluwagbemi-Jacob 227). Women have several different roles throughout the house and on the land. The females had several more jobs than the male does. Oluwagbemi-Jacob stated “The females make the fire, do the cooking, and serve the meals etc… The females would sweep the kitchen and the rooms of the family houses…

The main gender roles that are described include the males job is to being the bread winner, which means he provides the financial support and the females’ job is to stay home to look after the kids and do the house work. The male is the dominant one in a family, if a female is not just married her father is dominant but when she gets married the dominance is transferred to her husband. When the father gives his daughter away at the wedding, which means he’s giving up control and dominance of his daughter to her husband. An example of the husbands having dominance is that the wife has to ask for approval to drink alcohol.
Families founded on the principles of equality, the inviolability of the rights and responsibilities of the individual, mutual respect, love, and tolerance are the cradle of democracy. Such families are the foundation for the well-being of individuals, societies, and nations.
Domestic violence is a serious issue that negatively impacts women in our society. “Domestic abuse is a violent confrontation between family or household members involving physical harm, sexual assault, or fear of physical harm” (Domestic Violence). Although domestic violence can impact men as well, this type of abuse seems to be more prevalent among women. This abuse destroys families and can even lead to death in some cases. Even though there has been improvement in spreading awareness about this social injustice, much more work must be done to put an end to domestic violence to protect families around the world.
(Popple, P., 2011) If a conservative likes to emphasize on tradition and stick to the way things have always been, then they are most likely going to be against same sex marriage in the first place. On the other hand, conservatives look at same sex and domestic partnerships as two completely different views. For one, same sex relations were never a part of society decades ago. They may have been around, but they were not recognized and therefore were not traditional.
Family brings a sense of emotional bonding, socialization and care. Family values include ideas like: respect for parental authority, stability in marriages, chastity before and outside marriage and care for the elderly.
Functionalists emphasise the harmonious nature of the nuclear family, believing it provides a more stable environment for the family and its individual members but also for society as a whole. It draws attention to the positive aspects of family life, fitting in with many people’s experience and expectation of the family as somewhere they are safe and cared for. Functionalists see the father taking an instrumental role, supporting the family by earning a wage with the mother taking the expressive role, caring, nurturing and taking main responsibility for the home and childcare. New Right agrees segregated conjugal roles are human nature and are reinforced by society’s norms and values.
According to Simons et al. (2004), “the family is considered to be the most significant social system in which all individual function” (p. 96). The family consists of many synergistic and intricate parts creating a unified working system. Within the family system, each individual plays an important role in its healthy or unhealthy development, needs, desire, and specific family type, and overall success. “From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (Ephesian 4:16). The family system is influenced by all elements ranging from spiritual, culture, traditions and genetic
"Family is not an important thing. It's everything.” This remarkable quote by Michel J. Fox should be the definition of family. Family is everything, they are our motivation, the ones that will love us when others don’t, and are the ones who stick to each other as gum when times get tough. Families have the most robust connections alive. These ties are so solid, and deeply intact that they can do everything and anything. These links allow a family to influence, shape, impact, and change one’s life. The intimacy within the family sphere, shape all who are inside it, this cannot be changed, and well anything that comes from within the family cannot be changed. The family itself can control and change our views on society, influence how we view the family unit, and yet most of all impact our everyday choices. The family’s capacity of guidance can make such an abundant shift that can only be felt, and barely visible unless seen through strained eyes, that makes this connection even more inexplicable than love.
