To begin with, I would like to express some thoughts on our band’s (concert band) performance. Personally, I felt far more relaxed during this concert, partially because of the fact that there were less people in the audience and also because it was my second concert. Overall, I felt I had good performance, and that it was a lot easier to play this concert, as I was not as nervous as before. I felt that i played reasonably well during the duration of our concert, and I would probably give myself a grade of an B+/A- because, I felt that at times I was not listening to the rest of the band, and I was too worried about my own part. Also, I needed to have clearer articulation, and better dynamics in a few key places in our music. Moving on, I will talk about our ensemble’s most outstanding elements. As a whole, I thought our appearance was great, and that our band played reasonably well throughout the concert. I would say that our last two pieces were our best ones. I felt that compared to last concert, we had improved our quality of sound and our musicality. We had better dynamics, and we sounded more together. The least effective elements of our ensemble as whole, were probably the first two songs. Our biggest issues throughout our concert were that at times, we were too quiet, and also that when we had to jump up to play a higher note, we fell flat. Additionally, I felt that our musicality was not as apparent in the first two songs as it was in the last two. Our dynamics and articulation seemed a bit lacking, and certain instruments were overpowering others. Overall, our ensemble seemed to have improved greatly since our last concert. Furthermore, we played our four pieces well, but there is still things we could improve. Our fi... ... middle of paper ... ...band played. The concert was great, and I liked the Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra the best. As a whole, the all the groups in the concert played musically, and they all seemed prepared. Overall, I felt less nervous during this concert, compared to our previous one. Also, the entire concert could be shorter, as some pieces were very lengthy, and many people were tired, so they could not really hear and understand how good the groups played. A couple of recommendations our next concert, is maybe shortening the length of concert, or maybe changing when we have our intermission. We could have it right before the Wind Ensemble plays, because they usually have the longest set. This could help, because our audience would be fresher for the last band, and will be able to really enjoy the Wind Ensemble. All in all, our concert was a big success, and a great experience for me.
The concert that I attended last Friday was an interesting one where I got to have some new experiences and learn about classical music.
The rest of the trumpet section was also very lively; I felt they carried the main theme in almost every song which certainly kept me interested in the performance. The conductor kept the band on time, and to me they never missed a beat. One could tell they were certainly well rehearsed and truly knew how to use their instruments. A lot of music these days has become focused on generating the catchiest lyrics or chorus, so seeing this jazz ensemble was very refreshing. I was delightfully surprised to see such remarkable music talent at a performance of that size and caliper.
Furthermore, our band had two concerts this semester. During our March concert, I was far more relaxed than my first concert. I felt that I played a lot better, and improved many aspects of my playing. However, I felt that I still needed to focus more on my dynamics, and listening to the rest of the band. In that concert we played Metrix, Water is Wide, Cold Mountain Saga, and Jungle Dance. Overall, our band improved, as we had better dynamics and articulation. However, we still were not together at times, and we sometimes ...
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
I chose to do my concert critique on Eric Clapton-MTV unplugged full concert-HQ January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. Eric Clapton is my favorite rock n roll singer which has a mixture of genres. The concert was inside and on stage. The audience was seated up close to the stage which made the atmosphere comfortable; Eric and the band showed much warmth and connected with the crowd it wasn’t like the band was untouchable.
...ked throughout the concert. The pacing of the selections seemed appropriate. No piece sounded like the one before it. There was a great variety of songs played. There were songs played that were written by famous jazz composers and songs played that were written by some of the performers themselves. This added to the excitement of the show.
...xcited to have this experience. Part of the drama of the concert at first is felt when the musicians come in and sit down and begin tuning up their instruments. I would not be able to comment on the performance of the orchestra. During the performance, I seen the audience were moving with the music, but I felt like that everyone seems knows more music than what I learned throughout this semester. After I went home and did some of the research on these music I finally understand why these people like to attend the orchestra concerto, it was because that every piece of music has a history behind it. The Los Angeles audience seemed to me to be people who know music and who will listen to something new in a respectful way. All the same, when the more familiar sounds of the last piece were heard, I could feel a little sense of relaxation and fun coming into the room.
The band played together in such harmony and joy, and they exchanged looks as if they're talking to each other and understood by looks. As it turns out the guest go the nigh George Gazone was the professor who taught the band members music. Garzone Played the Saxophone like no other, he’s solos were magical it was fascinating watching him and the admiration his student have for him. The music sounded beautiful, yet seems the band are not well prepared for the evening. There was a lot of improvisation and as if every band member wanted to show off his skills which was really good. Improvisation is an element of jazz I was looking for, also, there were a lot of call and response between the band members different ones at each piece they played.
Every performance was presented with charm. The flashing, changing colors seem to go along with the performances. The director was humorous. The performers outfits were on point too. I liked the color coding of the vocalists, Jeremy, Jordan, and Rowan. Also, Julie wore a pretty suede dress and had a great voice. It was nice to see her come out for the 2nd time to sing. When Spencer kept playing his saxophone in some of the performances, it was just amazing. Some of my favorite performances were Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, Ain’t too Proud to Beg, In a Sentimental Mood, and more. It really made me feel like I was in New Orleans all over again. I absolutely love Otis Redding and The Temptations music, so I wasn’t new to these songs they played. I was sitting in the back (R-125) where I felt comfortable to bob my head to the music. If I ever come back to see another concert, I will make sure to get a seat in the back again. I adore Jordan that did sung the Temptations song. I thought it was exciting to see his enthusiasm while on stage keeping us engaged, but everyone did great in their own way. The song by Duke Ellington made me feel melancholy, the piece was soft. I just couldn’t believe how well everyone contributed and gave an outstanding
In conclusion, the concert was really interesting and I enjoyed myself. In my opinion the two pieces that I really like in this concert, are Sounden Horn and Polonaise from Engine Onegin, the shift between the melodic lines and the element of beauty is what made me like it. In the future I would recommend it to my friends and I will not mind to go with them at all. This kind of music is the best to me by far.
Over this semester, I attended two concerts. The first concert I went to was a performance done by the Swedish band Graveyard at the 9:30 club in DC. The second concert that I went to was at the George Mason Center for Performing Arts. This concert was a jazz competition between bands call The Battle of the Big Bands. Both concerts were performed very well and kept the audience, myself included, very entertained throughout the entire show. In this paper, I will be discussing each individual show in depth, and then continuing on to compare the two concerts.
During the concert the pianist, drummer and saxophonist did a great job, making the rhythm unforgettable. One of the songs that was performed was "Wrapped around your fingers" it contained a romantic melody. While the piano and saxophone then alternated the rhythm, as the passion of the song was motivating everyone to fall into the rhythm of it. The melody which was steady seemed to get faster like a heartbeat by the climax of the song. The sounds were increasingly getting louder until all instruments met at the top with a ban...
For my second concert, I attended a percussion ensemble. There was really no proper title to the concert. It was directed by Daniel Smithiger. The percussionists were SIUE students and a guest conductor/ performer, Professor Megan Arns, from the University of Missouri. Professor Arns has performed in many countries. She is a percussionist and educator. She also has experience with marching band. There was a total of eight songs performed during the concert I attended.
I meet the group at the band room, seeing so many students who have the same passion as I do. First things first, our director handed out the sheet music. I felt excited, hoping that I will receive trumpet one section music, keeping the trumpet one streak I had since middle school. As the director hands the music to the trumpets, my anticipation grew before I saw what the music I received was for.
This concert was very nice and enjoyable. The performance overall was very good and easy to listen to. All the pieces they played except for the second one I really did like. I had never been to a chamber music concert before this one, but I really enjoyed the setting and how close you could be to the musicians. The concert overall was very good and I would go back to another one like it
