Mohandas Gandhi and Mao Zedong were two great leaders who succeeded in many ways by their actions and decisions. Gandhi was an Indian leader and Mao a Chinese leader. However, their approach to success, peace, and ultimately, a revolution, was very different. Mao favored peace through violence, and Gandhi favored peace through non-cooperation and standing up for what is right. He also believed that these changes will be accomplished by “conscious suffering”, was the way he put it. However, despite their differences, these two leaders were similar too. They were both very charismatic leaders who successfully made it through their revolutions. Mao’s revolution led to change in class structure while Gandhi’s revolution involved India as a country, and he wanted people to realize that working together is a great way to gain independence. While Mao and Gandhi both believed that each of their countries have the need of independence, their views differed when it came to the use of violence, development towards the revolution, and their thoughts on a caste system. Gandhi and Mao Zedong had different ideas when it came to the use of violence. Mao believed that “Force is the midwife of every old society pregnant with a new one.” (reading packet, 12) What this means is that force is absolutely necessary and the outcome of force is violence. Mao is in total agreement with violence and sees the people opposing the movements he is favoring as “paper tigers”. As in, at first, these rebels might seem terrifying, but in reality, they are helpless and harmless. Mao actually blames the Hunan landlords and the higher, wealthier class for a bloody battle between the peasants and the landlords. They were both very creative with their ideas and had different motives and knew how to get what they believed in through to people all over their nations. Leaders today such as Barack Obama can learn a lot from these two influential leaders. From Mao they can certainly learn different strategies for war and such, as well as how to develop their country towards the better. From Gandhi, leaders can learn how to get what they want with peace and kindness, while simultaneously learning that independence is possible through peace, which even leaves a bright stain of Nationalism to go with it. Mao and Gandhi both had a lot to offer, and they both expressed themselves in different, but effective ways that changed China and India forever.

Mao Zedong will forever live on history as a revolutionary, not only in China but across the globe. There are very few communist nations today because of the many difficulties of having a homogenous population, which shares the same ideals. Mao was able to modernize and re-socialize his citizens in a short amount of time. He defined himself as the face of change in China. Mao’s vision of equality for all Chinese citizens has still not been achieved but it is well on its way. The only question lies in, does the end justify the means.
Between the years of 1939 and 1945 the world was sent spiralling in a mess of corruption, violence and uncertainty. Allied powers were faced with the unparalleled task of protecting the world from tyranny. In terms of political power, this weight was bestowed upon the shoulders of two memorable individuals. By and large Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt can be labelled as beacons of democracy and leaders of the free world in their time.
Chinese Revolution is about making the entire country into Communists and killing each and one the people who hates Mao Tse-Tung. Mao Tse-Tung is the leader of China at this time who believes in equality and everyone should have the same rights. The Red Guards is a military group in which includes a group of children that eliminates the Chinese population due to hatred for Mao. If any of these events happen to our generation, most youth are smart enough to know that Mao is a bad leader and killing innocent people by the case of bitterness for Mao is wrong. The Chinese youth got swept up in the Cultural Revolution by Mao because the youth were easy to persuade into doing something. To expand this idea further, the Chinese youth weren’t old enough, not on this specific age, to realize whether Mao’s actions were virtuous or inaccurate. On the other hand, they thought that working for Mao and joining the Red Guards will help their country out, but they never knew the truth behind Mao’s plans. The truth about the Cultural Revolution was to kill anybody that gets in the way of Mao’s plans and destroying all the old buildings so that it would be replaced with new buildings or reconstruct the old buildings to become brand new again. In addition, the Chinese youth had no idea that joining the Red Guards will give a highly chance of getting killed. In other words, the adults were smarter than the youth because joining the Red Guards means the opposite of helping the country out. Mao just made them think that joining will help their country, even though it was the other way around like someone apologizing to their neighbor in which manipulating their minds that they’re now cool, but they were still rude to them afterwards. To repeat this, t...

In 1949 China became a Communist nation the leader Mao Zedong had idea on how he wanted China to be runned. Mao Zedong liked the idea of having a big nation . Zedong wanted a big population because that meant he would how more young workers than old retired people in his nation. Zedong told all the couples to have lots of babies to make the population grow but once he had seen how fast it was growing he want to go back and never said what he said. After he already had a big population he had to think of how he was going to provide clothes and food for everyone . He came up with this policy to try to fix his problem.
Mao: Well first of all Stalin created the cult of personality, everyone loved him and admired him because in all the images he was depicted on he seemed powerful. When Stalin turned Russia into a superpower after winning World War II everyone admired him even more. When the second Sino-Japanese war happened It was me who created a massive guerilla warfare and defeated the Japanese. Because of my formidable and effective fighting force I was the savior of China and everyone loved me. Superman was loved by everyone in the Soviet Union because he kept everyone save while still implemented Communist ideals. We were all saviors and if you did not agree with our ideals we would send you to rectification camps. For example, when superman defeated super villains he put them in a rehabilitation program that
Gandhi and King both agreed that nonviolence is accomplished by revolutionizing the relationship between adversaries, and that its strength lies in their commitment to justice. However, Gandhi puts emphasis on a need for personal suffering in the practice of nonviolence, a stance that is somewhat less aggressive than
Mao saw the situation in the international communist movement as the struggle between Marxism-Leninism and revisionism, and also saw that China had to make a choice between the two.
The spread of Communism and its ideals significantly increased during the final stages of the Chinese Civil War which intensified after the Second World War and resulted in a victory to the Communists in October 1949. At this time, the majority of the provinces in China were led by either the GMD or the CCP. However, the civilians in the GMD-ruled cities were suffering rapid inflation, strikes, violence and riots which led to a collapse of public order. Adding to this instability, corruption was rife within the Nationalist party’s leadership.... ... middle of paper ...
The rebellion Mao claims to have manifested might have distanced Mao physically from his family but, traditional Chinese values were deeply ingrained, shaping his political and personal persona. His father's harshness with dealing with opposition, his cunning, his demand for reverence from subordinates, and his ambition were to be seen in how Mao demanded harmony, order, and reverence as a ruthless dictator. Yet, Mao, was also the kindly father figure for the people of China, as manifested in characteristic qualities of Mao's mother: kindness, benevolence, and patriarchal indulgence.
...o wanted to regain power, launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in 1966, saying its goal was to establish an equal, socialist society, but in fact he wanted to undermine, and even eliminate Liu Shaoqi by giving him the title “capitalist-roader”; though this real intention of the Revolution remained a secret to most of the countrymen in China, for he cannot make his hunger for power too obvious. After Mao’s successful, complete elimination of Liu, he began to transform the government and society so that everyone in the country saw him as the best person on Earth. Even after the transformation, Mao still did not want anyone to prevent him from ruling the country as a single supreme figure, so he eventually undermined his so-called successor Lin Biao as well. After all these years of struggle, Mao became extremely ill and past away in September 9, 1976.
Eventually, in 1949, after a grueling civil war, the Communists took the leadership of China, starting the new era of “the People’s Republic of China”. Mao led the PRC with ambition, and made many sacrifices, both himself and as a nation. Although Mao’s ambition and sacrifices did lead to the better China that is known today, there are many that question the necessity of the harsh choices he made during his rule over the PRC. One can even question the morality of the decisions made by Mao, both direct and indirect for his nation. During the “Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution” of China, countless Chinese bourgeoisie were persecuted with almost no logical reason. His powerful and stern leadership turned into an iron fist. Mao in the long run did improve China, but many of his actions were unnecessary and actually hindered the progress of his
