As a special education teacher I also do not agree with the entire manifestation determination process. I deal with many students who struggle with ADHD which make these type of meetings more difficult each and every time. No matter the behavior, they always tend to fall under the category of impulsive or acting without regards to consequences. I understand and support the purpose of manifestation meetings for actions that truly do correlate to behavior for lower functioning students, but are we preparing our special education students for real life? What happens when they do not have an IEP later in life and break the law? There will be no manifestation meeting at that point. Great point,
