Time has been described as the scariest of resources, and if left unmanaged, can be the cause for nothing to be managed (Khan, Khan, Ahmad, & Naseer, 2015). Efficiently managing time can improve a person’s all around attributes; productivity, organizational skills, and awareness. Since joining the military, time management has never been an issue for me. The one thing I loved about the military the most was that I always knew what I would be doing every minute of the day. Though my girlfriend hates it, I have carried this mindset over into my civilian life as well.
In this week’s Read section, I found that I most familiarly operate like Part A (Identify obligated time). Like I said, I like to know what all I have to do in a day’s time as soon
For example, organizing my calendar where I have the time blocked out when I am in class, driving, the hours I will be studying, the time that I will spend getting Avery ready for bed and her school work done, etc. by having this all planned out in such detail maybe this will help me stay on track for efficient time management. Also, logging my time and keeping track of where I spend my time can also help me see where I can spend more time doing something more productive. (Chapman,2008) Setting priorities and learning to focus not only what is urgent and important but also activities that are important but might not be urgent, like Avery’s gymnastics or her 4H club meetings. Making a “to do list” would be helpful in helping me remember what needs to be done and what I would like to get done and finding time in my organized calendar to do so. (Chapman, 2008) Also, I should try to avoid multi- tasking, I am a mother which means I am a great multi tasker, I can cook dinner, do laundry, and give a bath all at the same time, although sometime the dinner gets a little burnt. But according to Chapman, multi-tasking is actually not a time saver but rather you lose time when you switch to different tasks. Trying to stick to one task at a time may be helpful in learning more effective time management skills. All of
Punctuality shows that you’re responsible, honest, and can follow directions. It’s not just an order that the army requires, but also is a very good trait that is certainly a reflection of a person’s character, it shows you have integrity and self discipline. Though some of us make mistakes, but it’s unacceptable and a lack of respect for others and their time. If you’re late it shows that you most certainly do not care what their NCO’s tell them. Time is often a precious gem that shouldn’t be wasted at any cost.
In the Marine Corps, there are many ways to achieve mission accomplishment. Two ways that stand the most for me are time management and accountability. I believe that in any type of career out there, time management and accountability are major keys but lately I have been failing to do that. These traits are something I have to try my best to work on so I am able to be successful in my career as a Marine.
Time management is a very important skill for all employees. Many employees find themselves frustrated with their workload and this often leads to stress as they try to catch up on tasks that they have not managed to complete.

On any given day, my time regardless of how planned it is by making lists can be thrown off track due to usually a sick child/pet. No matter how hard I try, I know my kids will get sick and they will expect me to take care of. Since I cannot usually control when that will happen, it’s important that I take advantage of what I can control, such looking ahead at assignments that will need my attention to plan adequate time to complete assignments a head of time, instead of waiting till the last minute. When I know what to expect I can make plans. Another

Everyone can be characterized more by one of the quadrants. The book encourages and gives us directions to become a person who can prioritize their activities. What do we know about time management? As adults we should know a lot about time management. We all strive to become the best that we can be. This alone should encourage us to learn about time management. Every aspect of our lives depends on it. If we try to plan, organize, and execute our ideas most of the time we can manage it well, but when we go the other route, and jump out there feet first, most of the time we do not do as well. This is not the case in every light, but usually it is the norm. Even as we sit in class trying to better ourselves by improving on our education, we learn that we must manage time to the best of our abilities. This is not done only for school, but for our families for those of us that have children and spouses. A lot of the time, we manage to get everything done and leave ourselves out in the cold when it comes to making time for ourselves. If it is not our job or school we are trying to meet someone else's needs.
Before learning about time management I did not have a way of keeping up with my daily activities and I greatly struggled with procrastination, two of the great setbacks to managing your time. I now manage my time with a planner and decreased my procrastination by breaking large tasks into smaller ones, which I learned in chapter two. I
Learn to manage your time wisely. Plan ahead! Time management can help you stay calm and focused regardless of the current situation you are in.
If other persons are also working for the plan there is a need of coordination. A workable time and activity plan must be built, step by step, to fit the needs of a particular organization. Conditions in no two organizations are the same. As such, time for interruptions and unexpected demands must be planned in advance. These demands are a part of the day’s activities. Although the details of time and activity plans will differ for each employee, the steps in making the plans are much the same. Carefully considered time plans can increase satisfaction and reduce indecision or worry in the application of time and other resources to reach goals. A general goal of time management is the conservation of time to match needs and wants. Time plans should therefore, reflect personal and organizational goals. Based on these goals, people decide on activities to be included in the day, week, month or year for which they are planning.
