One difficulty many students face is procrastination. Most of the time, it occurs because students do not complete their homework ahead of time. There are many opportunities that a student does not need to attend parties and study at home. Although it is easier said than done, Malcolm X also explained that, “ One of the biggest troubles with colleges is there are too many distractions, too much panty-raiding, fraternities, and boola-boola”(Malcolm X 512). Malcolm X would have fallen into the same category as the student because of the many distractions that was stated. Despite these claims, students should at least remain focused on the task at hand. Malcolm X became the person he is today because, “I saw that the best thing I could do was get hold of a dictionary”(Malcolm X 503). It ultimately hinders a student’s performance during class and prevent them from learning new concepts. This only happens because friends and an interesting movie keeps them up at night. It is these distractions that ultimately impacts a student’s ability to learn. However, while all nighters are not necessarily a good idea. Malcolm X stayed up all night for a different reason. He would read for nights due to an interesting topic, but the night guards caused him problems. Malcolm X had a situation that, “ At one-hour intervals the night guards paced past every room”(Malcolm X 505). While in college, we do not have professors walking around these hours, we have to discipline ourselves as if that were the case. All nighters should have some form of productivity. If there is no productivity, then it would greatly impact the student’s grades. It is necessary to avoid distractions so that a good night sleep is likely to
happen. While these aforementioned points are definitely factors, students should not put the attention towards these actions. It is ultimately the student’s fault for his grades if he does not take actions toward his studies. Malcolm X put effort and dedication towards his passion. College is a path for passion and we also need the same drive. We need to be diligent towards our studies because it will benefit us in the future. Our passion for our major should keep us on track and avoid these distractions. Overall, students should have the same focus and attitude that Malcolm X expressed and it will ultimately lead us to our success in our future careers.
The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told by Alex Haley is about a man who changed the history of America. Malcolm (Little) X preached what he believed about racism, discrimination, and segregation. He went through many changes in his fight for equality. The three transformations that really changed the way Malcolm thought and preached where his transformation in prison, his transformation into the Islamic religion (following Elijah Muhammad), and the biggest transformation of all, his pilgrimage to Mecca. In all of Malcolm actions, teachings and transformations we learn different points of view and we get a good look at different aspects of events. Speeches are a method of persuading people to do something. For Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, their speeches were to bring equality for the people of color. However, their approaches are different. Consequently, the effects may be different. An example of their contrasting differences is a speech from each, King’s “I Have a Dream” and X’s “The Black Revolution”. Malcolm X should be everyone’s hero, someone people like myself should look up to as a human being. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either a racist or is extremely ignorant. Malcolm X wore his heart on his sleeve and whether right or wrong he was never afraid to say what was on his mind to anyone who cared to listen. I personally believe Malcolm X’s beliefs give me strength to do what's right and carry myself with dignity. I remember, as a kid, my parents had tons of books about Black History books. The first book I read was a Malcolm X biography. I realized Malcolm X was truly a powerful, significant, and essential work for all time.
No matter how someone may be living their life there are always obstacles to face. Somebody may face an obstacle they come across by and they have to figure out how to overcome that obstacle. Either having to do with work related or a school obstacle there are many possibilities but also opportunities to over come these series obstacles. These two men were faced with similar obstacles, Malcolm X and Frederick Douglass to whom everyone seems to know their history quite well, however little do people know how these men learned to be the brightest people in history. This paper will discuss the different stages of thought processes the former Nation of Islam minister, Malcolm X went through during his lifetime in terms of how he viewed white people, but more specifically “the white man” in America. The reason the focus is on White Americans is because these were the people outside of the Nation of Islam that shaped his life good or bad and put him on the path where he eventually transformed from Malcolm Little to Malcolm X who was one of the most polarizing and controversial figures during his lifetime and even nearly 50 years after his death the name Malcolm X causes certain people to shudder. Malcolm X became a well-known figure during the 50’s and 60’s during the civil rights movement which involved figures such as Martin Luther King Jr. This was a pivotal era in American history because for the first time that there was major push towards full rights for African Americans. When Malcolm X came on the scene he put fear into White people because they weren’t used to hearing the truth about race relations in America and many of them felt that things were just fine because they themselves were living life high on the hog while at the same time exploiting Blacks. Because this type of talk from a black person was new to them they misinterpreted his views as “hate speech” and accused him of trying to incite violence when he was simply trying wake his people up to properly deal with what was happening to them.
The history of the United States has in it much separation or segregation due to race. For a long time our country has seen racism as a large problem and this has caused ethnic groups to be looked down upon and forced into a lifestyle of difficulties and suppression. Due to this, races, particularly African-Americans, have been forced to deal with unequal opportunity and poverty, leading to less honorable ways of getting by and also organizations that support change. Malcolm X is one strong example of an African American man who became apart of a group acted against it, uniting people to promote the advancement of colored people and change. Malcolm's thoughts towards race and civil right in the previous years were displayed in a less way to the people and "by any means necessary" perspective. After his pilgrimage in 1964 his view of civil rights had quickly changed into a more complete view of civil rights, and the peoples views towards him. No one really knows what kind of impact Malcolm X would have had on history if he had not been assassinated. His beliefs and philosophy did gain him a place in history as one of the best-known Black Nationalist Leaders. Everyone seems to have known who Malcolm X was, and he ranks high with all other Black leaders. His ideas were radical and he was very out spoken. He was a major force in the development of black history. He fought not only for his people but also for all oppressed people everywhere. He was well spoken and he laid the groundwork for the black power movement of the late l960's.

Malcolm X or Malcolm Little and also known as “El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz”, was an African-American Muslim minister and a human rights activist. He had a hard child a young adult life. His admirers he was a courageous speaking for the rights of blacks, a man who accuses white America in the meanest terms for their crimes against black Americans; critics accused him of preaching racism and violence. “He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history along with martin luther king jr.” based on some of the things malcolm has done, Martin luther king jr. definitely had a different way of approaching issues. with both of their totally different way of getting their point across, discussion could be made on who was more effective in the civil rights movement as a whole. I've always lived in the era where news was harsh, fast, and never ending. The first major news story I can remember blaring from my mom's TV was about a high school near us. I had been home sick that day and missed being locked down with the rest of my elementary school buddies while two troubled high school kids ruined lives. I don’t know if the news coverage was the same in other states but I can remember by summer break still hearing about. It wasn't here or there. One public debate after the next on who was to blame, who wasn't and why it couldn't have been the kids faults. Even now they still bring it up and while I was not personally hurt by the actions of these kids I still have this pang. The News Media refuses to let the wounds heal.

College students have to balance work, family, and college activists and any delaying behavior from within can cause an unbalance. This behavior is called procrastinating and it can lead to problems in many areas of a student’s life. College students are the worst hit by this type of behavior because they have many different activities to focus on instead of studying. These activities can cause students to study when they have time which often is usually too short amount of time. There is a time and place to relax and enjoy life, but if students focus on playing around instead of getting their assignments done, college life will be stressful.
