The Unforgettable Malala Yousafzai
Imagine being at school like any other day when suddenly a gunshot is heard and a body falls to the ground. That was a sight seen by some of Malala Yousafzai’s classmates around the school one day. Young Malala at the age of 14 was demanding to the Taliban to go to school after the Taliban forced the closure of her school. When she did this she became an icon for 32 million girls worldwide (Blackwell). All people should respect Malala Yousafzai because she over came an assassination attempt and she tells people about it while she still embraces education worldwide.
Malala Yousafzai was the target for an assassination by Taliban terrorists. She was shot in the head nearly two years ago (Gazette). Malala

said in a blog “On my way from school to home I heard a man saying ‘I will kill you’” (Blackwell). She was shot on her way home from school as the quote explains. She was only 14 years old when the attempt on her life happened but since she recovered she has been an even stronger face for a women’s rights (Blackwell). By Malala sharing her story in her book, I am Malala: the Girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban, she has broadcasted a sign of courage and hope. A quote from her book “I told myself, Malala, you have already faced death. This is your second life. Don't be afraid — if you are afraid, you can't move forward.” (Yousafzai). Even after Malala faced death in the face she still preservers forward and tells her story to others. By doing so she shows courage to keep going even after a tragedy. Not only did Malala live through an assassination, she continues to tell anyone she can about her story to get everyone the rights of education. Her perseverance and courage are traits of a young girl that should have respect worldwide.
To add to Malala Yousafzai’s admirable traits such as courage, she is also a young education ambassador. Even though she got shot because she attended school, she still stands for all people being able to have a good education. One of Malala’s quotes about her outlooks on education is “Let us pick up our books and our pens, they are our most powerful weapons. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world” (Yousafzai). Through her hard times she still looks at life with a positive, respectable, and forgiving attitude. Rather than getting revenge she would want to get Taliban children to have educations (Blackwell). From the time of her incident, many organizations have been formed because of her. The UK is supporting a project in the Punjab that has sent one million children to school (Blackwell). “I don't want to be thought of as the ‘girl who was shot by the Taliban’ but the ‘girl who fought for education.’ This is the cause to which I want to devote my life.” is a quote from Malala’s book explaining how she wants to be known for how she fought for education (Yousafzai). Malala Yousafzai should be known because she stood up for education and she was a very respectable person.
Malala Yousafzai should be respected because she is a strong young woman that can still talk about the assassination attempt on her life to others to raise awareness about education. Malala believes that everyone should have the choice of education. Even through when she went through a difficult time when she was very young, she still stayed strong and was able to tell people about her story in hope that people would raise awareness of the education problem around the world. Malala is a very respectable and iconic person because she is strong and is very passionate about education.
