Magic Johnson Started out his life having a tough childhood. He had to balance many things such as, Basketball and providing for his family. “Such were Saturday morning of Magic Johnson’s youth, occasions when he was dragged from his quiet slumber, his world of basketball dreams, and thrust into a reality where hard work was the only staple of survival.” (Johnson, p. xix.) No costume change is needed, only a different approach and attitude.” Magic could play where ever you needed him to on the court, and he would play it better than anyone else on the court. “Johnson, of course, starts and plays most of his 37 minutes a game at his natural point-guard spot. But in these post-Kareem transition days, Johnson will also play as many as 15 or 20 minutes a game at small forward and big forward, the latter mainly on defense. There also have been rare times, whenever Coach Pat Riley wants a quick lineup or is beset by foul trouble, that Johnson has played center.” Johnson would outplay you if you were an inch shorter than him or a foot taller than his magic would find a way to dominate
Michael Jordan, in his prime, was thought of as one of the greatest basketball champions of all time. A shooting guard, standing at six-six, Jordan was able to out play anyone in his position. He started his career at the University of North Carolina, where he helped his team win a national championship. He then was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 1984-85 season. While playing for the Bulls, Jordan received many awards such as, MVP, five championships, Olympic gold medals, slam dunk contests, and many more defensive and offensive awards. Jordan simply dominated the nineties and left the game as a NBA Finals winner in 1998.
In a year were so many great athletes are no longer with us, Payne Stewart, Wilt Chamberlain, Joe DiMaggio, Walter Payton, the man we thought would have passed away first is still among us, Magic Johnson. Rick Reilly does a remarkable job on this praising article on Magic. Reilly talks about how fit magic is. "He can bench 325 pounds. Weighing 245, he's about 20 pounds heavier than he was in his prime, but now he's ripped." He is still playing basketball in different celebrity appearances, and plays quite well in them although he is way older than everyone there. What really impressed me the most about Magic is influence as a black businessman. Reilly showed me, as well as America, a different side of Magic that is not seen on Sports Center. "He owns five Starbucks and has plans to open 10 more, nearly all of them in black neighborhoods, including one in Crenshaw and one in Harlem." Magic is willing to put money into the ghettos when other white investors are not. He owns many different businesses, from a TV company to a bank. What is truly amazing is he hires all black people to build and work his businesses. "Magic feels like many black athletes forget where they came from, I try not to." When I read this I was really stunned. He made a fortune taking risks that many other people won't try. He is living his life to the fullest and using his HIV experience to educate great number of people.

When he was a child his father “left for the gas station to get cigarettes” and has yet to return, before his father left he had abused him. His mother was a stay at home mom, she was barely able to provide for them. But when he entered college that all changed because of his dominance in the sport of basketball and he was such a big guy people were scared to bully him. In high school his report card grades dropped because he was bullied so much but even after they plummeted he was still a straight D student. But in college he was a straight A student with honors, all three times he went to college he got honors.
Jackson overcame poverty by working hard, excelling at multiple sports, and staying out of trouble. Jackson worked extremely hard to get to his current position in life. He practiced non stop, it seemed. In high school, college, and throughout the pros, Jackson worked to get better at baseball, football, and track. He was able to work hard and become a star at all three.
The NBA is well known for the number of amazing professional athletes it has had over the years. Some of the most gifted and talented individuals come through the NBA and one of the better-known superstars is none other than Kobe Bryant. For years people have wondered what makes Bryant so successful. The main contributors that lead to Kobe Bryant’s success is his hard work and dedication, his mindset, his natural ability’s and talent, and the people that have helped him throughout his life. Kobe Bryant was very successful in the NBA because of the amount of hard work he has put in, the people in his life, his relentless determination and his god given natural abilities.
He wasn’t just the best at basketball, but also very good at baseball. Michael had ended up returning back to the game of basketball because it didn’t feel right playing baseball. Obviously that was the right choice to do, because he had went on to do bigger and better things like make it into the Hall of Fame. Now who wouldn’t want to do that? Anyways, Michael was listed as one of the greatest players in all time NBA history, and I think by everything I’ve told you in this essay is some pretty good proof of why he is known as a so called legend. If you had watched one of his games in his prime time, you would know why he is now known as the G.O.A.T. Even though he had a hard life with his dad dying and other worries, he has done some great things. It doesn’t matter what happened in your life, because you can still accomplish many things, but it is up to you to choose how hard you will work. So, what will you
No dream is ever for granted and Johnson realized and he chased after his for a very long time. Ever since his childhood, Johnson felt he had a purpose in his life, he was always relentless in anything he did, he had a fighting spirit in him and he started trying his luck at boxing after a famous boxer came to his town and told Johnson he had a lot of promise. Johnson took it to heart and that lead him to his first boxing match.. With his tall and muscular body he became well known in the white world as well as the blacks at a very quick pace . Over a few years Johnsons relentlessness in the ring eventually won him the African Heavy Weight Championship, which was the highest rank an African American could achieve. He believed that he was able to win the World Heavy Weight Championship which was then held by Jim Jefferies. Every challenge Johnson threw was met with closed doors. “African-Americans were considered unworthy to co...
Jordan helped revolutionize the game of basketball, the marketing brand of the NBA, and became one of the most recognizible humans on the face of the Earth. Through the Civil Rights movement, America's involvement in the Cold War, and a period of transition in America, Michael Jordan entered the NBA at a time of cultivation. All the hard work that Jordan did through his life, and all the hard work society did to progress as a whole colloborated in the 1980's, and allowed Michael Jordan to become a revolutionary. Michael Jordan is an iconic symbol of not just basketball, but American change and progress and it's influence throughout the world.

Lyndon B. Johnson's, a man who was raised from humble beginnings was able to rise up in politics from a Representative, to a Senator, to Vice President, and finally becoming our nation’s 36th President. Starting off his presidency with tragedy due to John F. Kennedy’s assassination, he took the position of extending the legacy of JFK’s visions and making them his own during his time in office. Although Lyndon B. Johnson is not viewed as one of our greatest presidents due to his foreign policies and involvement in the Vietnam War, his achievements in domestic policies in my opinion has had the greatest developmental impact on politics in the US since 1945.
