This quote by Gregory David Roberts can often describe our lives and what may come upon us due to the consequences of our actions. This quote directly relates to Macbeth due to his nature and him being taken captive by the evil darkness within himself which then allows for total chaos amongst the play. Macbeth is not the only leader to get caught up in the power and become prideful for more, many world leaders have succumbed to the unfortunate destiny and darkness that Macbeth falls into. This quote shows the unfailing arrogance and push that even in a time of defeat, Macbeth will not give into the idea of surrendering, but will die as king just as he had wished. With the research presented, we can see the similarities and differences of how the downfall of Macbeth and these other world leaders began to suddenly creep in at the start. Their downfalls mainly consist of lack of sympathy as well as pure greed and pride. It comes from wanting to obtain all they can and once obtaining that power it is never enough and they will do everything in their power to keep trying to obtain perfection.
