Recommended: Impact of stereotypes on individuals and society

This class is my second class about genders and sexualities. I also have friends who have taken this class or other classes similar to it. During a discussion we all realized that social media and pop culture is ruined for us after taking these classes. Everything you listen, see, and read either upsets you or is very stereotypical. Additionally, I realize how many times I have said or done things which were totally uncalled for or politically incorrect. This music video, Maa tha Ladla, is one of those examples. This song came out in 2008 and I have enjoyed it since its depute. It has been one of my favorites. Every time I play it, I want to dance and uplifts my mood, until few weeks ago. I was cleaning my apartment and I played some old songs from my favorites. When this song started to play I was singing along as usual, but then I suddenly realized what the song was actually saying. The lyrics are homophobic and against same sex marriage. I have always supported same sex marriage and LGBT rights therefore my love for this song put me in a pickle. I am shocked how famous this song is in India. It is played at almost all parties and get-togethers. it is marketed to families. It is a Bollywood song from a feel-good romantic comedy.
