The problem that laid in his way, was the social stigma at the time. In the early 90’s rap was dominated by the “gansta” rap scene. People like Tupac, Biggie and Dr. Dre ran the industry at that point and there was no room for Kanye and his pink polo. Kanye was seen as a producer first and foremost, since that’s what he was so good at and that’s all he had done up until that point. It wasn’t until the year 2000 that Kanye was brought onto Roc-A-Fella records with Jay-Z where his producing really started to shine. Helping produce Jay-Z’s 2001 album The Blueprint, the album was a huge success and lead to the revitalization of Jay-Z’s career. Kanye didn’t get a chance to make his own record until the following year (even though he had been working on it for almost 3 years now) when Roc-A-Fella finally gave him the go ahead. Kanye started his production of The College Dropout. It was also around this time that Kayne started a relationship with a girl named Alexis Phifer. Their relationship would be on and off again for the next few
He first surfaced in the rap game during the early '90s as a member of the rap group All In Together Now, a group from Staten Island, New York which also contained fellow Wu-Tang members such as GZA, or better nicknamed Genius for his creative lyrics, and Ol' Dirty Bastard. In 1987, after meeting the two future members of the group, RZA purchased a 4-track recorder and began working as a producer. Following his participation in All In Together Now, he signed to the famous rap label Tommy Boy under the name Prince Rakeem where he issued his first Extended Play Ooh We Love You Rakeem in 1991; a video was later released, and sent to popular music television stations. After his deal with Tommy Boy, RZA formed the Wu-Tang Clan together with fellow members Ol Dirty Bastard & GZA. In 1992, after RZA was on trial for attempted murder and later acquitted on the grounds of self defense, the group released an underground hit Protect Ya Neck which gained them attention from many record labels. They eventually were able to sign with Steve Rifkind’s Loud Records, where they were given a deal that gave the group members creative control and the freedom to negotiate solo projects with other

“You Was Right” by Lil Uzi Vert is fairly easy to understand lyrically. The essence of the song deals with unfaithfulness in a relationship as well as the aftermath. Lil Uzi Vert spends a large portion of the song admitting his mistakes to his presumed girlfriend in hopes of making things right between them. The song starts off with the hook, which rests upon the premise of how Lil Uzi Vert should have stayed loyal rather than taking another girl home with him. For example, he says, “You was right, I was wrong” (6) in an attempt to console his girlfriend and apologize. Following the hook, the first verse centers on Lil Uzi Vert’s riches due to his success as a rapper. He ties that in to his relationship by expressing how he wants to share his wealth with his girlfriend. At this stage in the song, Lil Uzi Vert is attempting to win his girlfriend back with his money and general success as a rapper. The hook then repeats itself to indicate that the argument between Lil Uzi Vert and his girlfriend is still continuing. The second verse signifies an escalation in their conflict, as he says, “You just locked the door, so I gotta text you” (42). His girlfriend is refusing to even listen

The Lais of Marie de France is a compilation of short stories that delineate situations where love is just. Love is presented as a complex emotion and is portrayed as positive, while at other times, it is portrayed as negative. The author varies on whether or not love is favorable as is expressed by the outcomes of the characters in the story, such as lovers dying or being banished from the city. To demonstrate, the author weaves stories that exhibit binaries of love. Two distinct types of love are described: selfish and selfless. Love is selfish when a person leaves their current partner for another due to covetous reasons. Contrarily, selfless love occurs when a lover leaves to be in a superior relationship. The stark contrast between the types of love can be analyzed to derive a universal truth about love.
He may just seem like another rapper to you but if you actually listen to his lyrics you can see he’s not like any rapper out there. His name is Kanye West and he was born in Chicago Illinois. He grew up in the “ghetto” and learned to appreciate life. He didn’t learn to really, truly appreciate life until October of 2002. Driving back to his hotel late one night after a recording session, the new-coming rap/hip-hop artist was involved in a devastating, near fatal car accident. The crash left him with a broken jaw in three places and an appreciation for life. Just weeks after being released from the hospital he recorded his first major hit, “Through the Wire,” with his mouth still wired shut. He records every song like its going to be his last song and that makes every song better than the last. He’s not only a rap artist but also a producer. He has been responsible for being behind songs like Jay-Z’s Izzo, Girls, Girls, Girls, The Takeover, and 03 Bonnie and Clyde.
The article, “Measurement of Romantic Love” written by Zick Rubin, expresses the initial research aimed at presenting and validating the social-psychological construct of romantic love. The author assumed that love should be measured independently from liking. In this research, the romantic love was also conceptualized to three elements: affiliative and depend need, an orientation of exclusiveness and absorption, and finally a predisposition to help.
Rihanna describes herself being at the studio fronting Jay-Z, the rap king. Jay-Z was living his golden age when he met Rihanna, more importantly heard Rihanna. He was at once convinced, being blown away by the young prodigy’s talent. Rihanna later shared her experience at the first audition with Jay-Z. In her description she was nothing but a mass of shaking nervousness. However, once she started singing, all the shaking halted and a voice was heard that changed the world in just a matter of time.
The Definition of Love Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definitions through the Internet, books, and articles, I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia is probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All of which can only be defined by one word and that is love.
