Recommended: Adverse effects of benzene

The type of cancer I decided to research was lung cancer because it was something that was interesting to me. It interests me because I know a lot of people that have smoked and have gotten this type of cancer. A few of the leading causes to lung cancer is smoking and environmental toxins.The types of smoking products that are used that can cause this type of cancer are ones you buy from the store or illegal drugs. There are different types of environmental toxins. If these types are ingested the result could be cancerous. These toxins include and not limited to; asbestos which is a type of insulation used in houses, carcinogens; toxins in cigarette smoke, and benzene; a toxin that is a natural part of crude oil and gasoline, etc.

Even with all evidence in the world today about tobacco causing cancer, Tobacco companies still remain the most profitable business in the world. Lung cancer is very common in both women and men. Women account for about 40 percent of the lung cancer cases in the world. Women who smoke are more than twice as likely to develop lung cancer as those of men who smoke (Tavor, 2005).
