Before joining the Lucky Ladies Social Club I did not have a social life, my life consisted of going to work, school and church. Being a single mother of a thirteen year old daughter, I decided I needed to venture out and make some time for myself and that’s when I discovered the Lucky Ladies Social Club. However, before joining I decided to research other clubs in my surrounding area for example the Ladies Choice Social Club and the Lady Street Soldiers Social Club. These clubs offered the same benefits of sisterhood and also went on a lot of out of town trips but they were not organized and did not focus on volunteer work. The Lucky Ladies provided me with a chance to give back to my community; they were diverse, and unified. In September 2007, I decided to join the Lucky Ladies Social Club which is a non profit organization. One of the biggest drawbacks of joining this club is that some members do not welcome new members as freely as others. The reason I say this is because, when I was a new member I had a lot of problems with two of the members Lady Too Tall and Lady Cascade they did not speak to me acknowledge me, nor did they make me feel welcomed, which was kind of weird because of the sisterhood bond that was expressed to all new members upon joining the club. Although, I was a new member when I joined the Lucky Ladies Social Club I knew Lady Sunrise and Lady Too Short before joining the club, so I felt a little comfortable being in my new surroundings. Another problem was that some members of the Lucky Ladies Social Club did not have dedication. Being a part of a nonprofit organization we are required to volunteer and raise money for the community and various organizations. I felt that some members procrastinate a... ... middle of paper ... ...treet in downtown Memphis. Another reason why I decided to join the club because of the patches we wear on our vests, and what they represent. To most people it is just a vest with patches on it. But to me earning my patches demonstrates the level of commitment, honesty, integrity, respect, and understanding I have for the sisterhood. Being in the Lucky Ladies Social Club we are constantly reminded of conducting ourselves in an orderly manner. Because if one member causes a problem that creates public awareness, the general public does not distinct between social clubs, those actions reflect on all the social clubs. In conclusion, my decision to join the Lucky Ladies Social Club has been very rewarding. I have made a lot of life long friendships, learned responsibility, and have more self esteem. If I had to make this decision again I would with not hesitation.
Clubs were a great way for me to expand my interests outside of athletics. I was involved in Key Club and FCA freshman year and I enjoyed meeting new people and making a difference in our community. I was inducted a member of NHS junior year and this was a great way to make service a priority.
This club is not only fun, but it's like going to a meeting with some of
Women of Delta, especially the ladies of the Alpha Tau Chapter, excel excessively in everything they accomplish and partake in from what I have seen on Southern Universities campus and in the community. Their outstanding work ethics, academics success, social friendliness, dominating attitudes, and constant need to help others is just a few explanations why I would be honored to be a lovely member of ...
In conclusion, Kappa Delta is the best sorority on our campus. We are proud of our history and our commitment to helping others. Our philanthropies mean everything to us. We try our best to help better serve them and their cause. We try our best to uphold our values that will benefit us throughout our lives. Being confident is the best feeling in the world. When I joined Kappa Delta, I was a shy and awkward teenage girl. Now that I have been in the sorority for some time I have become a strong, independent, and self-assured woman. These ladies have supported me through all my tough and hard times. No matter what happens in life I know that they will be there for me. Kappa Delta will always be home for me!
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...
The founders paved the way for future sorority members to take into heed and have an example of what to go by. The Women’s Suffrage is one of the many struggles the founders had to face. To face a problem within your community of this magnitude shows not only Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated strength, but how diligent the founders were. The founders of this sorority believed in a cause and stressed the importance of overcoming the barrier that was set before them. There are sorority members who continue to surpass and help solve the struggles within our community, such as getting our young people to vote and making sure African Americans are aware of their HIV status. These contributions say more about the women of this sorority than any other. This sorority is very diligent regarding the various events that they host. Time, quality, and effort are the traits I notice in the events that I have attended. The positive actions that the members of this sorority continue to produce, does not go unnoticed. The time and conscientiousness that these Delta women put in gives me great knowledge on how I should portray myself at all times as a future Delta woman. I aspire to be a member of a sorority that is fully committed in the sisterhood, community service, as well as being diligent leader in the sorority as well as outside the sorority. I aspire to be a member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
More than eight million copies sold is a great figure for any music album. However, for a CD labeled with World Music genre, that number means an unprecedented success. The album, named Buena Vista Social Club, has changed the attitude of the world to Cuban music forever. Nonetheless, Buena Vista has been criticized for being a commercial product, and for causing negative effects to Cuban society. Let us discover the story behind this phenomenon from Cuba, and more importantly, explore the music inside this brilliant CD.
organizations, my service did not stop there. I was also involved in several other clubs and
In the past, I have volunteered for our bands fundraiser every Christmas, which we host at our high school. It is a unique moment in time, to see the joy of children's faces as they walk into the school that morning for Breakfast with Santa. Being able to put on a performance for those children that morning brings joy to my heart and keeps me coming back each year. Another event is the Special Olympics held in Houghton Lake. Students from our school every year go and help setup and run the Special Olympics. Helping out and getting to talk to participants is an honor and has created new relationships with people. I want to be able to give even more back to my wonderful community through the National Honor Society by volunteering and helping as much as I can. Meeting new people, and helping them in ways that can change their life can have a permanent effect on one's self, and NHS opens that
If I am chosen as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I will work hard to uphold the reputation and exceed the standards that those before me have set. I believe becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. means joining a group of highly educated women that together I believe are capable of facilitating the type of change that is imperative in today’s society. It is my hope that I will be accepted as a member and be afforded the opportunity to take part in that change. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my request to join your
Every sorority proudly represents an organization, for which their goal is to raise money for. My sorority’s national philanthropy is “Sigma Serves Children” which is carried out through the Robbie Page Memorial for the research of Polio. My sorority chapter sold root beer floats and we made seven hundred dollars for our organization.
With the help of the Me To We team at Queen Street Public School, I volunteered at a local food bank. The experience was quite educational and fascinating. We encouraged staff and students to donate non-perishable food items for the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. This was definitely a highlight of my grade five year because I felt very humble and warm-hearted by doing a simple act of kindness. In addition, I was chosen to participate in the "Intergenerational" program. This was created so that grade five students can learn more from the elders of the Burton Manor senior home. We had the privilege to learn about their history and interact with them through several educational and fun activities. If accepted, I will indeed join several clubs and teams to contribute my time and talents to make the school an exciting learning

The term ‘sorority woman’ always comes with negative stigmas that all sororities do is drink or that sororities are just paying for their friends, but being a part of Alpha Sigma Tau has changed my life. As a freshman, I was self-conscious and unsure of myself, so when I went out for recruitment on a whim, the whole time I thought for sure that no sorority would want me. But, when I got my bid to Alpha Sigma Tau, I knew I found my home and my sisters. However, I did not know how much this organization would shape every aspect of my life. I have gained bonds with my sisters that will last forever and the support this sorority has for me, and each other, helps build my confidence every day. As I am finishing out my senior year- three and a half
Roadside assistance is either of these main benefits you can enjoy when you join one of these clubs. With this coverage, you don 't have to worry about being stranded on the side of the road if you run out of gas, if your battery dies or if you need a tow. The peace of mind that having this protection offers is enough reason to join one of these clubs, but there are many other benefits, too.
