Effects of Lowering Concussions in Football Mike Webster, legendary Pittsburgh Steeler was once asked if he has ever been in a car crash and his answer was “yea about 25,000 times or so”(Fainaru-Wada 3). This is just a glimpse of the life of football players that are messed up due to the constant and harsh hits and blows to the head. By the the way Mike Webster died at the age of 50 because of brain injuries and complications. I'm not saying football is a bad sport because of this in fact I love football more than a lot of things but it is a problem none the less. Lowering the number of concussions is important because it impacts the players mentally, socially, and physically.

90% of most concussions do not involve in loss of consciousness (aftertheinjury). Researchers tested the brains of all deceased NFL players for the disease known as CTE. They found it in 96% of them. My opinion about the fact is that the percentage is way to high and really needs to be addressed to the public. I think that it's just another example of how deadly concussions really are (aftertheinjury). The Boston Globe a famous newspaper did an article about how they are finding the same type of brain damage identified in 14 deceased pro football players has also been found in veterans who endured bomb blasts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Time magazine has also done an article about concussions and it says that depression studies are showing retired football players are showing a lot more signs of depression than the average human being. People argue the fact that there no proven evidence about how concussions don't affect you physically, mentally, and socially but it's just denying and not being able to accept that football is a dangerous and unpredictable
