“All of me” by John Legend is the theme song for The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. In the year 2013, the record label GOOD - Colombia released the album Love in the Future. Legend sings, ““Cause all of me / Loves all of you / Love your curves and all your edges / All your perfect imperfections / Give your all to me / I'll give my all to you / You're my end and my beginning / Even when I lose I'm winning / 'Cause I give you all of me / And you give me all of you, oh” (John Legend). This song and the lyrics I chose epitomises what it means to be in love. The entire song points out that no matter what, he'll never see flaws with the girl that she loves - that is, her 'perfect imperfections' - as to him, he knows that he'll be in love with her no matter what. Ex. While Bieber talks about love on the 21st century, Shakespeare talked about love in the 16th and 17th century with his play R&J Ex. Not only does this song talk about love, but also Shakespeare's R&J. In John Legend’s song “All of Me” he sing about how someone who loves someone so much and just how they care for each other and their lyrics are in the song Love your curves and all your edges / All your perfect imperfections, if William Shakespeare were to right this song, these lines would look something like this, loveth thy curves and all thy edges / all thy p'rfecteth imp'rfections. Shakespeare also talks about the unconditional love that someone shows toward another person. A song that fits the theme of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare would have to be John Legends hit song “All of Me”

Love in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare examines the concepts of love in the tragic play
Romeo and Juliet is known as one of the greatest love stories, but it has its fair share of tragedy as well. The story riddles with themes throughout. Love is the first theme, and there is no greater love than the love Romeo and Juliet share. Shakespeare offers his audiences just as much hate as love in Romeo and Juliet. The families of both Romeo and Juliet involved themselves in centuries of feuding.
Of all musical genres country music is perhaps the one most influenced by a male presence. Country music is often associated with the classic cowboy strumming a guitar around a campfire or riding his horse with a guitar strapped to his back. Even the politics of country music is inclined towards a male-dominated, republican, conservative, pro-war stance (Spong 184). The stereotypical women of country music “behave properly” and passively follow the same values as men do. Therefore, in 2003 when the Dixie Chicks, a three member all female country music band, became the top selling female group of all time it was quite an accomplishment. Their success began in 1997 with an image that embraced their versatility. Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, who are sisters, played fiddle and banjo and provided background vocals to lead vocalist Natalie Maines, gifted with a strong, clear voice. Maines stood out from the others with her forceful stage presence. They wore feminine, bling infused, non-countrified outfits. They were pretty to look at and kind of goofy in demeanor (129). The kind of young women fans could imagine having a lot of fun with, but also the kind that young women could identify with through their music. Songs like “Goodbye Earl” described a strong woman who has had enough of her abusive husband and ends up killing him. However, the band delivered it in a style that was far from morose. It sent a clear message of girl power for many women (129). Many accolades followed from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association (CMA) which included Entertainer of the Year, Top Vocal Group, and album of the Year (Towner 293). During the first five years of their career they sold 28 million copies of the three records...
The love in the story is not only shown between Romeo and Juliet. It is also shown in the form of filial love between Romeo and Mercutio. Romeo ‘loved’ Mercutio as a friend so much that he would vow revenge on the person that brought upon his death. The friendship was everlasting and would always be treasured by Romeo, even after Mercutio’s death. Other love was shown between Juliet and the Nurse. Juliet grew up with the nurse by her side all the time. The nurse was more of a mother to Juliet than Lady Capulet ever was.
True love is one of the most genuine, not to mention precious feelings in the world. In Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, a pair of lovers denotes the strength of true love and it's ability to overcome nearly all obstacles. However, this kind of love is a rarity due to it's pureness but somehow many cheap imitations are still mistaken for real love. Romeo and Juliet's love is authentic and by no means an infatuation seeing as first of all, they both risk their lives to see each other and would rather die than be separated. Juliet also has an unusual level of loyalty towards her partner for her age which supports the idea of true love. In addition, throughout the play, Romeo's demeanour started to change and he began to mature in a considerably short period of time. Young love is a petty sentiment nonetheless when it develops into a fully-fledged unconditional love, both partners will begin to evolve and will do nearly anything for the other.
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous love tales, but what if the play is not actually a tale of love, but of total obsession and infatuation. Romeo has an immature concept of love and is rather obsessive. Romeo is not the only person in the play who is obsessed though. Many people throughout the play notice his immaturities about love. Very rarely was true love actually shown in the play. attention. Romeo childishly cries to his friend, Benvolio because Rosaline will not love him back and says " She hath forsworn to love, and in that vow/ Do I live dead that live to tell it now" (I i 219-220). Romeo is stating that he's ready to die for loving Rosaline. This is exactly the same attitude Romeo had towards Juliet a little later in the play. During Scene I, Act ii, Romeo's friend, Benvolio tries to get him to go to the Capulet's party to help him get over Rosaline and meet other women Romeo gets very angry and emotional when he suggests this. “Now Romeo is beloved and loves again, / Alike bewitched by the charm of looks” (II 5-6). The chorus expresses Romeo’s juvenile way...
Through this tragic play, Shakespeare illustrates that love requires people to sacrifice many precious things, which can include family, friends, even life. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet depicts the nuances of human experience of love. Romeo and Juliet’s story is the greatest declaration of romantic love.
...er-perch these walls; / For stony limits cannot hold love out, /And what love can so that dares love attempts” (II.II, 71-74). This is an echo of the biblical Songs of Songs (Shmoop Editorial Team). This can also be referred to as the Song of Solomon, a collection of love poems, which are in the Old Testament. Juliet is also mad that she has fallen in love with Romeo. Juliet says that her “only love sprung from my only hate! Too early unknown to late! Prodigious birth of lave it is to me, that I must love a loathed enemy” (I.V, 152-155). Juliet has never considered that she would date her enemy, but that makes love sound a lot like fate. Even these star-crossed lovers hint that despite their love for each other, tragic fate may intervene at the end.
The theme of love is highlighted effectively in Romeo and Juliet. At the play's beginning, Romeo describes his infatuation for Rosaline. His feelings are not returned and this means that he feels desolate: he shuts himself away from his friends and family. Shakespeare allows his audience to see that unrequited love can be painful. However when Romeo meets Juliet, all thoughts of Rosaline disappear. Romeo and Juliet's attraction for each other is immediate. The love they feel is passionate and based on a genuine understanding of each other's feelings. Romeo declares, "Did my heart love till no?" (Act 1, Scene 5) and Juliet realizes their love is special. Shakespeare encourages his audience to consider the qualities people need to fall in love and to remain in love.
The important conflict held by both the Capulets and the Montagues helps the reader to understand important message of the intensity of love and the consequences hate. In our era today, the story of Romeo and Juliet has not been forgotten. One of the ways that it lives on in our lives is through music. Halsey, an American music artist has recently released the music video for her new song, “Now or Never”. The music video is based of the Shakespeare’s play, “Romeo and Juliet”. It tells the story that is parallels to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. In the music video, it depicts a girl from the “bad” side in love with a boy from the “good” side. The difference from the play is that both Romeo and Juliet reveal to their closest friend that they are in love with a member of the opposing house. The big contrast between the original Shakespeare play and the Halsey music video is the surprising betrayal from Romeo’s friend that leads the unsuccessful attempted assassination of Juliet and the deaths of several members of Juliet’s house, including Juliet’s friend. However, both Romeo and Juliet live in this music video version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in comparison with the suicidal deaths of both Romeo and Juliet in Shakespeare’s version. The modern day outlook on this classical plays may evoke questions and a range of different
Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course.
Love, that single feeling which generates the funny sensations in people's stomach, giving them the warm pleasures in their body, causing them to feel joy, and to believe every aspect in their life is right. It causes them to receive an exhilarating, appealing feeling that makes them want to rejoice. Love can be a speeding of their heart, but it can also be nerve-racking. It makes their hearts begin to rapidly pump, making a rapid beat— “ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom”. Attempting to describe love is a rigorous task, but it is possible. However, the easiest detail to describe and understand about love is not so much the feeling of it, but the concept of what it is about. Many people may obtain different views and definitions regarding love, but
