You bet. The Bible tells us that God is love. So we cannot know love without knowing God.
And how do we do that? Thankfully, God in His infinite love for us, left us a love letter that we call 'the Bible' - in order to enable us to get to know Him. God personally inspired every single word of the Bible into the minds and hearts of those who wrote them.
He inspired forty different men, on three different continents, to write sixty-six different books about the love of God, over a time span of 1500 years. They were written in three different languages, and yet it all comes together in a harmony never before seen in an undertaking of this magnitude.
Everything that you could possibly want to know about the love of God, is contained in the Bible.

The Bible also presents scientific facts hundreds and thousands of years before they were 'discovered' by man; e.g. that the sun orbits the galaxy, the fact that the earth is round, and that it hangs in empty space.
Finally, discoveries of multitudes of ancient manuscripts, some dating back over 2000 years, are identical to the modern-day Biblical text - showing that it has not been corrupted in its interpretation over time. Therefore, you can trust in what God has to say. He has never been proven to be wrong.
And God tells us that He never changes, and so neither does His love, because He is love...
However, if we look at the world around us, we could easily come to the conclusion that God's love is not in it. But that is only because of all the ways that man has tried to hide, deny, or distort God's love.
Historically, there were some priests who tried to keep the common folk from reading the Bible. They told them that it was too complicated, and that they could only understand it through the priests' interpretation. Of course, this was only so that the priests could attach more power to their office and to their religion, in order to garnish the obedience of the
In, “True and Living Word”, Gomes introduces the readers to a variety of topics and attempts to explain how the Bible relates to them. These topics are: The Bible and...The Good Life, Suffering, Joy, Evil, Temptation, Wealth, Science, and Mystery. The Good Life is a slightly more detailed repetition of Gomes’ main point. This section again explains how the Bible is a living text, as it withstands the test of time and applies to all those who read it, and how people are scared of admitting their Biblical illiteracy. Gomes makes a broad statement in this section that everyone feels drawn towards the Bible, subconsciously know it is holy, and want to read it but do not know how. He also states that the Bible is difficult to read and requires great analysis to truly understand it’s message. The other seven sections discuss how the Bible connects to each of them. These seven section are essentially a “crash course” on the Bible’s
The Bible is read and interpreted by many people all over the world. Regardless, no one knows the absolute truth behind scripture. Walter Brueggemann, professor of Old Testament, wrote “Biblical Authority” to help people understand what he describes as six different parts that make up the foundation to ones understanding of scripture. He defines these six features as being: inherency, interpretation, imagination, ideology, inspiration, and importance. As Brueggemann explains each individual part, it is easy to see that they are all interconnected because no one can practice one facet without involuntarily practicing at least one other part.
For thousands of years there have been many transcriptions and changes to the words of God, For example, just in the last thousand years there has been three different transcriptions, The New Testament, Homer, and also Sophocles. For a person not to look for their own interpretation of the lord’s book is
The Hebrew Bible, better known as the Old Testament, is a collection of tomes that form part of the Biblical canon. Many scholars around the world do not think that a single author wrote the books contained in the Hebrew Bible, but rather that it represents centuries of stories frequently compiled after the events they describe . The stories were created with visions for the future, in order to allow audiences insight into communities and beliefs that were common thought during their era. The stories responded to the issues and problems of their time, but also addressed contemporary climates. While the stories themselves may not be true, they convey truth without needing literal readings. For example, the creation stories in Genesis, portray God as creating the universe, and while this is considered as not ‘literally true’; the stories communicate theological truths about mankind’s relationship with God through the eyes of Hebrew writers .
If we are unable to love, and this what Wright is addressing, then one has no saving knowledge of God. As Christians, one needs to be reminded that God’s nature is kind, because there is no evil in God, and this what is being pointed out in the entire book of After you Believe: Why Christian Character
The Bible is our textbook life, and it also places a high value on doctrine. God wants us to know important things, and gave us the bible to help, and guide us. Unfortunately, many Christians know very little about the Bible and its Christian doctrine. We believers put our interest in other things, and know a lot about things that do not matter. In Romans 6: 1 introduces us to the major doctrines of the Christian faith.
There are hundreds upon thousands of ancient text that have been discovered, read, and debated among scholars and people of interest. Out of all these ancient texts, the Bible is considered the greatest collection of ancient writings that have truly influenced the world for generations. The Christian Bible consist of 66 or more books that are divided into two sections, the Old Testament and New Testament. The Old Testament consist of books that were written before the time of Jesus Christ. The New Testament consist of books written during and after the time of Jesus Christ. When it comes to the Bible, Christians often have their own views and interpretations on the Bible such as Christians debating about whether there is predestination,
A feeling that cannot be defined, an emotion that can only be expressed, and a word that is used in everyday life, is what we know as love. Throughout history, there have been many different opinions and interpretations of love. When a person is asked, “what is love?" many people find the answer more difficult to explain than they initially thought. The book Symposium describes love as, "the motivating force in all of us" (Page 11). The book also explains that Plato analyzes many kinds of love and one of those kinds of love may now be considered what one would call "Christian love." Christianity is a large influence on love today, particularly the fact that the Bible says God 's love is unconditional and he loves all creatures. This belief starts to somewhat conflict with Plato 's views because Plato links love to desire and God does
...nother. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13: 34-35).
The historical reliability of the Bible is the first matter that needs to be discussed. There are three criteria that the military historian C. Sanders lists as principles for documentary historical proof: the bibliographical test, internal evidence test, and the external evidence test (McDowell 43). The bibliographical test is the examination of text from the documents that have reached us. The reliability of the copies of the New Testament is tested by the number of manuscripts (MSS) and the time intervals between the time in which the piece of literature was written and our earliest copy. There are more than 5,300 Greek manuscripts of the New Testament and 10,000 Latin vulgate manuscripts, not to mention the other various translations.
He made and loveth all…” and that is that one should love and respect God and all things
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love.
Therefore, we cannot believe the Bible. Sometimes we are led to believe that true scientist are not Christians or do not believe in God. Yet, this is none but farther from the truth. As we know, the Bible is not a science book, but as of right now, there is no scientific evidence that can prove the Bible to be incorrect. When the Bible makes a statement relating to a scientific principle or fact, it is always accurate. Let us see some examples of how the Bible can coincide with science. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen. 1:1). The book of Genesis was written by Moses through the inspiration of God, or the Holy Spirit in about 1500 B.C. In 1820 A.D. Hubert Spencer presented the world with five scientific principles by which, “man may study the unknown.” These principles are time, force, energy, space, and matter (11). Yet, Moses, by inspiration through the Holy Spirit, gave us those scientific principles in the first chapter of Genesis. Let’s break Genesis 1:1 down to show those scientific principles. “In the beginning”---time; “God”—force; “created”—energy; “the heavens”—space; “and the earth”—matter (12). As you can see, all of the principles Spencer presented are in the very first verse of the
This was because He knew that love was the key to growing in their faith and living a life free from Sin.13 Love is only possible because God created it, He knew that humans needed love.14
Love is one of the most important elements in Christianity. Although there are many different definitions of the word love, people use the word to mean a strong desire or liking, romance, benevolence, giving, or even sexual intercourse. In Christianity, the word love includes serving the welfare of others. Such love is often called an agape love. Some people often recognize it as “Christian love.” Agape love, in the Greek language, means to act consciously and to choose to love someone without expecting anything in return from them, even though the result of the action may bring inconvenience, discomfort, or even death to the giver (Love Feast (Agape), n.d.). In other words, agape love is also a sacrificial love. This love is not an emotional or impetuous love but rather a more purposeful love. This kind of love is the kind Jesus referred to in Matthew 22:39, and it is the kind he wants us to apply to our daily life by loving others.
